This Place is Great ! We were searching for an inexpensive place to dine after a few wine tastings and discovered this place thru Yelp. When we got there we were greeted by Jamie who had a great personality and seated us. The menu looked fantastic and so did the food that others were eating around us. It was very simple. You find what you want and go up to the counter and order. Sit back and relax while the severs bring you your meal. I can't say enough about the service. They were young people and so polite and on top of things. Our food was abundant, enough that we couldn't finish and the price was just right. Try the deserts if you have room. read more

My salmon was undercooked and my wifes three olive pasta was linguini with the tapanade on top. A decent tapanade, albeit, but not good on a pasta. The bread they served with the tapanade as a free appetizer was also sub-par. We came here for lunch because it had a 4.0 star rating. Unfortunately, it could not live up to this. First of all, the one star that I'll give is for the nice and friendly staff. But as far as food quality, we were not impressed. The latte we ordered was not a latte, but rather something with too much milk and too much water. I ordered an Americano, and just received a poor quality coffee that was extremely watery--not an Americano. The food was the most disappointing, though. I ordered the grilled salmon sandwich, and got two slices of bread next to each other, one with a small piece of salmon on it, and the other topped with a bunch of lettuce, a single tomato slice, and some pesto spread. It was not presented like a sandwich, and was very dry. We also ordered a roasted veggie wrap, and it was a poorly folded tortilla stuffed with, again, a lot of lettuce and NO roasted veggies. On top of this, the prices were outrageously high for the quality of food. Would not recommend this place, despite its surprisingly high ratings. read more

Child ordered a cheeseburger off their children's menu and received a pre-fabricated hamburger patty on two 4x4 pieces of focaccia. No cheese, no veggies, no moisture . . . It was terrible and he refused to eat it. The staff seemed very uninterested in addressing his concerns or the issue at all. That item should not be on their menu! read more

We have come here for years and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Recently we had a bad experience though. My mom ordered a salad and I got the French dip sandwich (very good!). About half way into the meal a bug crawled out of the salad. We told a worker sitting at one of the tables folding napkins (possibly the manager?). He was very rude about it. He said "well it comes from the fields and we wash it." That was it, no apology, no refund. The bug wasn't the problem it was his rude tone of voice and lack of apology that got us. read more

I was very underwhelmed by the quality of the food. Plus the service is quite weird if you are new to this restaurant. Note to restaurant owners don't change the way restaurants work it's awkward for customers. I could also hear the waitress arguing with the cook ( by far not a chef) while getting my own drink?!? We are here during a road trip on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable especially with two children in tow. I ordered the chicken Parmesan which was tasty if not a little over salted. My husband had the lasagna which he said was good but not outstanding. Kids has a pita pizza which my son would not eat (and he loves pizza). My daughter had a hamburger. She was turned off by the bun. Overall a decent place to stop off at. I thought it was pretty good, it is self service so don't expect to be waited on.The food was good, I had the pasta chicken marsala and a caesar salad as the side. They have patio seating, family friendly, lots of locals there which is always a good sign. Lots of choices to choose from, rice bowls, to pasta dishes, grilled salmon, ahi tuna salads. We came upon this restaurant by accident, but I'm very thankful we did. We were on our way to Cambria and it was 8pm at night and we hadn't eaten dinner. The Odyssey World Cafe was the only thing we could find that was still open, but they closed at 8.30pm. When we entered they did not make us feel unwelcome. My husband ordered the seared tuna stir fry and I ordered the beef dip sandwich. We both ordered soup. The soup was unbelievable and we wished we'd ordered a bowl. The other items were also delicious, except the seared tuna was a bit overdone. The food was so good, we returned a second time for dinner, during our stay, without disappointment. The Ribeye dinner and chicken marsala were both great, as was the soup. This will be our go-to place, whenever we visit Cambria. Only reason for not a 5 star rating: slightly overcooked tuna and the mixed greens salad was pretty mundane. read more

I came here on a lunch date last week and fell in love with the place. It seemed a little... underwhelming? at first. But I'm glad we stuck around because the staff and the food were both fabulous. We were greeted right away despite it being a seat yourself atmosphere. The employee was warm and pleasant, explained how the place worked etc and told us to make ourselves comfortable anywhere. We ended up switching tables after we ordered but the original table was still great, just a bit warm (it was outside in early August, so hot!). The food arrived fairly quickly and holy cow the serving size was pretty huge! I got a sandwich and fries and my plate arrived with a heaping mound of fries alongside my decent sized sandwich. Both the sandwich and the fries were fantastic. My lunch date ordered pasta and loved it as well. We both polished our plates and ended up stuffed to the brim. We still ordered a piece of cheesecake after though, and that was equally delicious. It's not an absurdly cheap place but for the serving size and quality of the food I would be willing to pay $15ish for a sandwich and fries again. Highly recommend! #worthit read more

I have been going to Odyssey for three years and NEVER been let down. I have referred numerous guests there and brought out of town visitors there to share the tastes. We stopped and asked a local for a place that serves healthy food and he recommended Odyssey Cafe. While my grilled salmon salad was really good, my friends didn't like their meals at all and the decor is kitsch. It is supposed to be Tuscan (I think) but it felt farm-like and somehow missed the mark for me. Again, if you like salmon salad though, go try this one. read more

We decided to go to Odyssey for lunch, because we wanted to try a new place. There were seven of us and we all ordered something and sat down, after about 15 minutes everyone got their food except for me. After about 10 minutes they brought my fries which were cold, and then after everyone was almost done eating they finally brought my food(they messed up on my order and had to redo it) My dad asked if there was anything that they could do because I got my food so late. The waiter acted like he didn't know what we were talking about, and acted like giving me a refund for my food was such a burden, and a very strange request. So, my dad said, "Isn't there something that you could do for her since she got her food after everyone else was finished". He left us feeling very confused and awkward. My meal was $14 and he brought back a five dollar bill with a little receipt seeing partial refund. I would never go back!! read more

Serve yourself. Seat yourself. The food is decent and fairly priced. I like that this place is exactly what it is, smack in the middle of overpriced restaurants. The day before, I ate at place where I paid $15 for 3 scallops. My husband had the steak, I had pasta, and two friends split a salmon dish. All plates were vibrant and tasty-looking. Everyone remarked that the food tasted pretty good. You can bring your own bottle of wine for a $5 corkage fee, too. I would recommend this place and go back on my next visit. read more

HI, we stopped @ this place for lunch, sunday afternoon around 01-00 pm; I wanted to go to Robert's cuisine, but my wife wanted to go to 'Odyssey World Cafe' next door... this is an order-at- the counter place as noted by other reviewers; it was not that busy; after going over the 'menu' options, we I ordered a Turkey sandwich with avocado and a cup of lentil soup; my wife ordered the Rotisserie chicken and salad with a piece of bread; I specifically ordered sour dough bread for my turkey sandwich; we picked up purified water from the back of the restaurant in a plastic cup; we paid upfront for the meal; we were shocked at the price..!! it was almost $30-00..!! After about 10 mts our food arrived; my turkey sandwich was small, and it was not with sourdough bread as per my request; there was no avocado there either; after a few mts another young lady brought the avocado, cut up in a separate plate and she said she forgot to put it in the sandwich..!! the lentil soup was good but was served in a very small cup; my wife's lunch was unappetizing as well; the rotisserie chicken was very small and her salad was also small; both of us didn't like the bread that was served; overall, it was a very disappointing experience; I can not believe that so many people have rated this place with 5 stars..!! we were very dissatisfied with the food served both in terms of quality and quantity; It was very pricey for sure..!! this will be the last time for us @ this place; read more

Maybe it''s just because I'm from LA, but I wasn't impressed with this place. The food was decent; my burger was pretty good but the tortellini my friend got was pretty bad. The service was extremely friendly, and the other people dining there seemed to be enjoying themselves, but I don't know that I'd go back. The interior decorating was bit strange, and the "conversation starters" and "trivial pursuit" cards on all of the tables seemed awkward. My husband and I LOVE to go to the Odyssey Cafe on our date nights. It's a perfect place to grab a bite to eat before a movie or coffee after a movie. We love sitting on the back patio and playing the Trivial Pursuit cards they have on every table! The desserts there are fantastic, especially the triple chocolate cake! read more

Website looks very nice. The restaurant itself also appears to be very cozy with a nice atmosphere. The menu looks AMAZING. However, the food is on par with something you might get at a beach shack or Denny's and you will be paying at least double than what you would at either. As others have mentioned, the gyros will obviously catch your eye (especially if you live in the area, since there are almost no other other places that serve them) but you will also regret paying near $15 for what could easily pass as stale cat food. This is a fun little place, it's on the casual side, you go in and grab a menu, pick your own table, and then order at the counter. However, unlike a lot of "order-at-the-counter" type places, the fast-food style restaurant ends there. After you have ordered, you can sit down and relax, because they take it from there. The tapenade that they bring out with the fresh baked bread at the beginning is delicious, the salads and soups are always tasty, and the entrees are every bit as good as a regular "sit-down" restaurant, but with a lower cost since you do part of the work yourself at the beginning. They even have a cute little patio out back that seems like something you would see at some cute little cafe in Europe. So, for those of us without the means to travel, or spend $100 on a meal, it's perfect. Or, if you do normally like to go out and eat pricey meals, and you're looking for a little less swanky of an atmosphere with great food, this is the place! 10 years ago we stumbled upon Odyssey and do believe it's one of the many places that attracted us to Paso Robles - we bought a home here 1 year later. That first visit sitting in the private back patio, felt very much like being in Tuscany. It epitomized the overall "feel" of Paso. In the past decade, I calculated we've dined at Odyssey, oh about 80 times. Our visiting friends from OC INSIST we go there for lunch at least once during their stay with us. Our long-time favorites are the Toasted Turkey sandwich and Curry Chicken Salad. Lately, we've added the Lamb Burger to our line-up either for lunch or dinner. Odyssey is the perfect spot for a casual, local inexpensive dinner. Paso now has some logo restaurants on Hwy 101 (Chili's & Applebee's) which do offer a good value. But folks, they're not 'on the park' in Paso. Where else can you enjoy: a leisurely lunch or dinner in an un-rushed atmosphere, refill your beverage w/o having to flag down a server, NOT have to leave a tip which adds at least 15% to your meal tab & have choices that range from interesting sandwiches, Asian stir-fry, rotissiere chicken, great daily house-made soups + vegetarian choices???? Plus, the noise level always seems comfortable. After lunch you're w/i seconds of the park, wine tasting rooms, Powell's for Gelato, a terrific art studio or to take in a movie. As veteran diners we're pretty discerning and find Odyssey a reliable choice for a great meal whether you're a fortunate visitor or an even more fortunate Paso local. read more
