I had such an amazing dinner here. I ordered the Poultinè first. It is fries, covered in gravy and turkey, and then covered with cheese curds. I was hesitant at first, but figured "why not?" I was not disappointed at all. It was one of the best things I've eaten in a while. The I had the Fish and Chips, with the fish being Alaskan Halibut. Now, I'm from Boston, so I'm really finicky about my Fish and Chips. Absolutely outstanding plate! The fish was fried PERFECTLY!!! Crunchy on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside. For dessert, I got the Peanut Butter Pie. If there could be a "wet dream" for a dessert, this is it! Out freaking standing!!! I only wish I could give more than 5 stars. Stopped in from the hotel across the street and needed a light dinner. The Clam chowder and garlic bread were ordered. The chowder is as good as Moe's, or even a bit better. The garlic bread is a bit odd (grilled) but very tasty and using fresh garlic (a major plus for me) The chowder is ALL about flavor and tastes like a bit of bacon was used.. truly divine stuff which needed just a bit of fresh ground pepper to finish it. Portions are solid with the chowder at 12 oz in a bowl and 4 pieces of garlic bread in an order. 2 bowls and an order of garlic bread was $20. I left $25 with the tip. Well worth it Recommend 9/10 Wonderful stuff and good quick service despite the fact that a 10 top and an 8 top walked in right before I ordered. Thanks guys!! read more

This place was right across the street from the hotel we were staying at so we thought we'd give it a try. Clean and spacious inside. Great for large groups and they offer a full bar with beer in tap and keno. The employees there were very friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be working there. The food took a very long time although there were only 3 other families in the place. My husband said that the clams were really good. My son had the fish n chips and raves about it. I had the pulled pork pasta and was disappointed because the pulled pork was lukewarm atop my bowl of al dente noodles. Seemed like it was not microwaved for long enough? If you're in the area, I'd give this place a go. Just forego the pulled pork pasta. read more

In all the times we've been to Newport, today was our first visit to Off the Hook. It's right across from the hotel so thought we'd give it a try. Now we wish we hadn't! They have a pretty good variety on the menu. My Husband was excited to try the deviled eggs for starters and we both had the pulled pork sandwich meal. The eggs were bland, even with the bacon on top. You could tell they'd been in the fridge a few days and had absolutely no taste to them. Not worth even the $4 we paid for them! The ones I make at home taste much better. Glad they didn't cost more. I asked the waitress for mayo for my sandwich as it looked dry even with the slaw on it. Well... she never came back with it or napkins and silverware! There was another guy working his butt off checking on tables and running things out, so we finally asked him because my fries had gotten cold, so he kindly got my mayo for me after I had waited over ten minutes while watching the waitress ask how other guests were doing and take their orders. My Husband said she only seemed to care about anyone that was ordering alcohol. I think maybe he was right. She never asked to top off our drinks and only ever asked how we were doing after my Husband was done eating and I was nearly done! At that point I was so upset with her that I never acknowledged her. I mean why come back to a table and ask how things are after you never brought what they asked for and had already finished their meals?! The poor rating is for the bland pulled pork, nasty appetizer and lack of service from the waitress. The guy that was busting his butt and doing what a waiter is supposed to do was so kind and actually deserves at least 4 stars all by himself. Don't waste your time going ! Fish and chips are quite good, but, even though Oregon requires masks to be worn in indoor and outdoor public places, none of the staff in the restaurant, two servers and a cook, were masked up. I suppose it's also a reasonable inference that none were vaccinated. As of this date, the COVID-19 risk in Lincoln County, OR, is "extremely high." Woa! Hold up!! $15 for a dozen oysters this good?? So we took the wrong on ramp in an attempt to cross the bridge to get into town. We tried to make a U-turn, and noticed an open sign next to the chocolate factory, and said "ok sure why not." We come in, and you can still smell the freshly sawed wood from a recent remodel. The place is very brightly lit. None of that fancy dim-litted BS. The place is super clean, welcoming modern decor, and you can see the chef work his magic in the open kitchen at the bar. Anyways, they had a special with prime rib. My buddy had it, and he said for less than $20, it was awesome. I had a cup of chowder with shrimp, and it was amazing. Very good chowder! You must have it with the shrimp! We also had this crawfish etouffee thing, and that as AMAZING! Woa! Both came piping hot, so it felt really nice to have these especially on a chilly evening. THE DOZEN OYSTERS FOR $15, with salty flavor followed by soft and sweet flavor.. super fresh! Amazing!!!!!!!! I'm coming tomorrow. Oh and staff was very attentive and concise. hehe. If I could give them ZERO stars I WOULD! Our friends said they have only gotten food poisoning ONCE last year! We went to the bar to grab a couple of cocktails and attempted to order some food.... that is where our pleasant afternoon ended. The man at the bar which I was told was the manager....are you kidding me? I have NEVER been spoken to so gruffly and rudely in any establishment that I have EVER been to. Apparently listening to other customers this guy is a tool! After we walked away from the bar (because he would not come to our table to take our order) he said to one of the people at the bar "I hate those people (meaning our friends) and I will not turn their order in". Mind you we have NEVER a been to this restaurant. He had no idea that we knew MANY of their patrons and several that were there that day at the bar! MANY of the patrons of this restaurant have experienced the same incredibly rude behavior from this man. He should NOT be in the hospitality industry and certainly not a Manager as far as I am concerned. After my continued efforts to place a food order which he was "too busy to take" I finally got something placed. Almost an hour later we finally gave up and left without having any food. And his response was "thanks I am busy anyway". A day later someone we knew who was sitting at the bar Said the Manager told them he never turned in the order. So you decide if this is a restaurant you want to patronize. We will never return to this restaurant. This guy is apparently the brother of the owner so he is here for good. read more

This is the best restaurant on the coast. The food is delicious and the service great. Had to get take out for awhile but even that was wonderful. So glad we are now able to eat inside again. The clam chowder is heavenly and if you like bacon try their BLT or the Blackened Blue Cheese Bacon Burger! Sooooooo good. The fries are also so good, not sure how they are made but they are fantastic. There is a bar, but we always eat in the restaurant! 5 stars from us any day of the week! The restaurant is right by the aquarium and has good parking, the building and dining area are clean and newly updated with local art for sale. The acoustics were poor as it is loud and screeching babies were unrelenting causing even my child (7) to cover his ears. The main waitress was something out of a movie representing a surely local who despises, yet depends upon, tourists for her livelihood. Our waitress was kind and friendly, however. The service was ok, a bit slow. The food was ok. It's mostly fried diner food, even the 23 dollar rock fish was smothered in cream and bread crumbs but undercooked, so I could not pull it apart to eat. It certainly was not terrible, but the whole experience was simply ok and not at all worth $70 for two adults and a child. read more

I seriously hate to have to write this review. The place is newer and you can tell the staff really cares.... but here goes...The deviled eggs are definitely worth it... chowder is OK, semi thick. We have had worse, but have also had better. The pork Mac, unfortunately, tasted like a more like a tuna fish Mac (I'm from Texas, maybe I'm over picky) that I couldn't finish. My husband had the Cajun salmon special, which had WAY too much sauce on it. Again, the staff REALLY cares and are Outstanding, but unfortunately the food is not great. read more

This place was right across the street from our hotel. They have a bright, cheery, and clean dining area with multiple TVs displaying sports related content. We we're greeted and sat without a wait; it was 5:45 PM on a Wednesday evening. The menu selection was plentiful, although I was disappointed by their lack of gluten free options. Our group ordered the clam chowder with a side of garlic bread, fish and chips, a kids cheese burger and a roasted vegetable and quinoa salad with catch of day. The staff was ok, the food was ok, and the restaurant was close. The fish and chips and the burger were both a little over cooked and a little dry but the fries were amazing, the soup was good and the salad was fantastic! I was disappointed by the fact I couldn't have the poutine or a burger. Then I was served this awesome salad with arugula, quinoa, roasted vegetables, dried apricots (these little delights made the salad wonderful), and topped with grilled cod. We were staying at the nearby motel, and came in for dinner. The dinners were superb, had chicken fried chicken, and the jalapeno corn was recommended by our waiter and was wonderful, could have made a dinner of just this. My companion's burger was just as good. But then dessert...they have $5 desserts, and we got 2 to take back to our room for later. One cheesecake, and one coconut cream pie. When the waiter gave us our boxed desserts, he mentioned that the "coconut cream pie didn't look so good, as it was the first piece taken out of the pie." We joked that it would still taste good. Well, I should have looked at it. Went directly back to the room and placed it in the refrigerator. Went to eat it several hours later. It didn't even look like pie. It was on the bottom of the container and was the consistency of watery jello pudding. It wasn't even edible. Had to throw it out. Had it even looked a little bad as I was told, that would have been acceptable, but you couldn't even tell what it was. If he would have had to serve this at a table, I'm sure he wouldn't have, as it wasn't even recognizable as pie. No one would have accepted this. So a bad ending to what would have been a good meal. Come on, you should know not to serve a customer something like this, especially when you can cover it up in a to go container. read more
