This is a neighborhood staple I love, but unfortunately my experience last night was concerning. If you are sober and/or order non-alcoholic beverages from the menu, you need to double check before drinking. Last night I ordered a mocktail from the menu that I have ordered many times before, I pointed to the exact drink I wanted in the mocktail section, the server looked at where I was pointing and nodded to confirm he knew what I wanted. I was instead served an alcoholic cocktail, and did not know until I took a huge first sip and realized it was liquor. As someone who is almost 5 years sober from alcohol, this was a huge mistake to be made. When I spoke to the manager I was only offered an apology, but it did not seem like they understood the severity of the issue. While this is the first time this has happened at this restaurant, please be careful when you are served anything non-alcoholic. read more

I don't know what changed this place. Service did change for sure. We came here many times. For my birthday celebration,for anniversary one,on many occasions. We were there two months ago and we noticed our waitress wasn't there anymore nor was the other friendly staff we used to know,but everything was fine. Tonight though... Amazing. Delicious. No frills. I came here for my birthday dinner back in March and had the best meal; my family and I still talk about it. As we also reminisce the days before the lock down of a lifetime. We got 2 full lobsters and a steak and they were all cooked to perfection. Absolute hidden gem in Astoria. I love their happy hour special. Their classic margaritas and mojitos are really good. So far we tried their warm lobster roll it has the perfect amount of meat. My boyfriend and I went on a date this past Saturday here and honestly it was some of the best seafood I've had to date. We started with ordering the oysters ($30 for 12) It was my first time having them ever, and I will definitely be coming back for the $1 oyster mondays!! The crab legs were the star of the night. For $50 bucks you get a massive portion with the most delicious butter sauce to dip them in. Definitely worth it if you want to splurge. I ordered the fish and chips, which were perfectly done - nice crispness on the outside, and soft and flaky on the inside. Besides the food, the services was great. Met up with some friends here. It's been a while since we saw each other. Came here on a Tuesday evening. The place was not busy at all. Only 3 tables inside and outside with guests. Mostly vacant. The food was pretty good. We got the grilled oysters, fried calamari, fish tacos, octopus taco, catch of the day... And several drinks. I was not a huge fan of their grilled oysters, the calamari and fish tacos were great, also the catch of the day was good. I did not really like their octopus taco. It was Tuesday so their tacos were $5 each. The service there kind of sucked. Our server was not really friendly. We were simply there trying to catch up and laugh and enjoy ourselves. Our server basically had such an attitude. They were also screwing up our drink orders. There were two servers and neither were really helpful. I believe one said she was pretty new and didn't know the menu. The other just didn't know the menu. She didn't even realize that the tacos were $5 because it was Tuesday. The jerk chicken had good flavor and wasn't over cooked or dry at all which was good; I do wish it had a little more kick to it but tasty overall. The warm lobster roll was delicious! The clam chowder felt like it needed more cream as it was a little watery in the broth and not a lot of actual veggies or clams or bacon or anything in the soup, was mostly just like runny broth, so wouldn't recommend the soup, but the other dishes were good. Was happy to discover a happy hour oyster spot in my area to satisfy my cravings. Happy hour specials include $1 house oysters, the first two white and red wines on the menu for $7, and the first 4 beers for $5? I believe. The oysters were great, but the service was not. I've been here twice with different groups and happened to be served by the same server. She didn't seem friendly at all and provided very little eye contact and communication. We asked her a simple question about the drinks and she answered with an aggressive NO while she continued to stare at her notepad. This place received 3 stars from me really because the bartender was so apologetic to the fact that almost anything you ordered took at least 45 minutes and there was only one chef and it was Christmas Eve. But we came in and sat right at the bar got our drinks and ordered calamari. Good thing we didn't have anything to do because it took an eternity. I think we were starting to freak the people out who actually had food on their table because we were staring so much. For our entrées we both ordered a cup of clam chowder and salads. What a surprise. The restaurant has been there for 10 years and I just discovered it. Nice decorations with fresh plants. They have little bit of everything. The oysters are stunning, especially the Fanny Bay oysters. They were my favorite. So creamy and meaty. Really loved it. The Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Lump Crab Meat and Guacamole are delicious. The Oth Crab Boil is a must! Love the variety of seafood and Cajun butter sauce. It is perfect. Highly recommend. The best Jerk Chicken that I tasted lately. Excellent restaurant! I brought my date here recently, she wanted to have oysters and I had never had any, and didn't know where to get any quality oysters. My knowledge about oysters was the absolute bare minimum- potentially deadly, fabled aphrodisiac and a king killer. Easy choice. I tried oysters for the first time ever- at my dates insistence- and they are now one of my all time favorite foods! These oysters were excellent! Continuing from there, we got the arugula salad- excellent, though it was topped with a bit too much cheese for my taste. My date ordered a mojito and I got the DogFish lager, both were excellent. Main courses- I got the Philly cheesesteak, made with real steak and served on a focaccia (I might be mistaken, but it was definitely an artesanal bread!) bun and served with some really awesome fries and ketchup. I enjoyed my meal immensely. She got the whole lobster, served with a side salad, butter sauce and more fries. I tried some of the lobster with the butter sauce and I really liked it! Service was great and the waitress was very helpful and patient with me and my lack of knowledge with oysters. Restaurant had a decent ambience and the back patio was very nice. The total bill was a tad bit pricey but well worth the food and the service. My date and I were satisfied and were very happy afterwards. I have been craving raw oysters for the longest time and after months of these cravings, I finally decided to come here and give it a try since all the pictures looked so promising. Food was great- shrimp mofongo was a lot better than I expected since I'm not a big fan of plantains, mussels were good- just a littttleeee too salty, and oysters and clams hit the spot. We got two dozen of each during happy hour! My only issue was that they took FOREVER to serve our food. We placed an order for two dozen oysters and clams, clam chowder, mussels, and mofongo but had to wait about an hour just for the first dish to arrive and then probably another 30 minutes for everything else to arrive. We shared a half dozen raw oysters served over ice with black pepper mignonette & cocktail sauce and we also shared the Festival Mussels that came in curry broth w/ fresh herbs, juliene carrots & celery. After we were done with our oysters and mussels, I ordered the Broiled Whole Lobster. The lobster was served with rosemary potatoes, string beans and a side of this delicious butter sauce with a hint of lemon. Came here last night for my friend's birthday and had a great time. Outdoor seating on the sidewalk because of the pandemic with only a few tables so get there early. The backyard was full already. Your drink is ordered through two different windows depending on what you want ( ex. Margs to the left, but frozen margs on the right ). We got a mix of everything from charred Caesar salad, calamari, jerk chicken wings, cold lobster roll, steak sandwich, mussels, and the 1 pound crab legs. Unfortunately the oysters were sold out. I'm sad to be writing this update. After really amazing experiences, I had a really bad one a couple of weeks back for my friends birthday. She reserved a party of 18 or so. They were super accommodating to the point that they printed menus with her name of it. I also thought we got great service throughout the evening, until the very end when we received our bill. That is when mayhem occurred. Here are the issue that arose, and for these reasons I recommend that you do not use this restaurant for large parties: - I was unfortunately responsible for splitting the bill between all these people. I was so tainted by this experience that I will never do that again. I wrote down what each person had (we couldn't split the bill because there were children that had like a soda and bacon, while others had two drinks app and main course etc.). - The conclusion was the following: The server added more items than what our party actually had. I checked and re-checked the receipt and it was concluded that there were several additional drinks (three additional red punches, and two additional bellinis), and an additional kale salad that NO ONE HAD. - In the rush of things I ended up paying the difference. When I asked the server about the discrepancies she said she just plopped it on the table and knew it belonged to someone. Plain and simply: the server was disorganized and added more items on the tab than what we actually received. The bartender also allowed our table to get drinks at the bar without closing the tab, and therefore more drinks were added on our final bill than what our party actually ordered (they got three drinks at the bar, and the server added 7 instead of 3!!!). So this is enough for a really bad experience. But there's more: My husband took a picture of his steak sandwich and his friends steak sandwich. They each had two pieces of thinly sliced steak for their large sandwich (which was really just bread with some onions and peppers). I had the clam chowder and it literally had NO clam. To go down in quality in such a way is totally unacceptable. It will have to be a while before I go back to this place. If you want good fresh seafood and delicious clam chowder I recommend you go to London Lenny's on woodhaven. read more
