This place used to be so busy and decently fast at getting you your food. I don't know why it's slowed down so much. Maybe the new hours or just the pandemic but it's sad to see one one of my favorite places start to decline. Food is still worth it. Parking nearby is easy. So my wife and I finally made it back after 8 years since we first came across this place while traveling. We live in the PNW now so hopefully we'll make it back more often when visiting Eugene. Great waffles! I did the fruit party waffle and it was delicious! The fruit was nice and ripe, lots of whip cream, and that yummy waffle. My only disappointment was I had ordered coffee and had to wait for them to get some made. By the time that happened I had already finished my waffle and we headed out the door. There's no waffling on my rating here: Off the Waffle is awfully wonderful at making waffles! They specialize in making Belgian liege waffles. Not only do they make one of best waffles I've ever had, the toppings they offer are the Ummm... icing on the cake? --- the point is that theres something really good on top of something thats already really good on its own. On top of the *REAL* maple syrup, you can have your choice of savory (bacon, cheese, eggs, etc), sweet (Nutella, fruit, whipped cream etc) or something in between. I prefer the savory since it goes great with combination of the sweet of the waffles/syrup. I also recommend getting at least one side such as the fruit plate or the strawberries. I felt that one entree wasn't enough but two waffles would have been a bit too much. The acidity of the fruit really helps to balance out the meal. Lastly, we got there at around noon on a Saturday. It was crowded but It felt like it was beginning to die down. I have a feeling that it gets pretty crowded during brunch so either plan on getting there early right when it opens, or rolling in after 11. Total recommend if you're visiting Eugene read more

Slowest service ever. It took over an hour for us to get a waffle and the restaurant is not even busy- only a couple tables. There was no explanation and the staff didn't even come over to check in. They surround you by pictures of waffles and food and you sit here for an hour waiting for a waffle.. it's a torture chamber. I waited for 20 minutes for a simple waffle. Coffee is self served. Never enough help at the front cashier. He/she has to take orders and bus all dishes from a fairly large restaurant. How does this restaurant stay in business? Depends on new college students and tourists. Employee turnover is high. I only recently discovered Liége waffles, and I'm a huge fan. I love how crispy they are, with the little pearls of sugar in the batter. I've tried a couple places up in Seattle and been a little disappointed, but this place was great. The waffles were perfectly sweet and crispy on the outside, tender and chewy on the inside, and the number of topping options was great! Goat in the Headlights looked good, I got the Hey Bob, which was really good, and the apple on top was quite sweet, and I shared a Fruit Party with my family as a dessert. The waffles were pretty decently sized, and we were definitely really full after finishing all of them. The fruit party seemed a little overpriced, since they had pretty cheap fruits on there, but it was still good. They had some outdoor seating, but tables were limited. Perhaps what really colored my experience was that I had to purchase the standard condiment of syrup for my kids' waffles. I am not big on waffles personally, but this was GREAT! The waffle itself was delectable, and the toppings delicious. I ordered the Goat in the Headlights (goat cheese, eggs, basil, etc...) and it was absolutely incredible. I wouldn't change a single flavor or even feel the need to add bacon. My only qualm is that the sides are a little overpriced, like an 8 dollar fruit plate that's basically just an apple a pear and a banana, or 2 slices of bacon for 5 dollars. Visiting from out of town (Oct 2019). I love breakfast food and I love a good waffle. I got the basic waffle, with Nutella and bananas (because sometimes I just go basic when at new places ok). But let me tell you it did not disappoint. It was cooked just right with the right amount of Nutella, to where it's not overpowering and the right amount of banana slices, WOW. This is way better than your average waffle at IHOP or Waffle House (which yes those are really good but). It's like when you eat a good authentic taco, you're just like "dang that was really good and satisfying." I can't remember what my friends got but there food also looked so good. Everything was presented well. They serve water out of mason jars and everyone knows everything taste better that way ;) Everything is reasonably priced. You order right when you walk in which went fast. Clean establishment. Friendly workers. It's in their downtown area? (could be wrong bc not from there) they have cute shops around it. YUUUUMMMM! I can barely formulate any words after eating "The Overachiever". It is a Belgian waffle with banana and dark chocolate drizzle- and I added fresh whip. It was like heaven in my mouth. My eyes went wide and I think I literally gasped it was so good. I don't want to build it up or overhype this place but they really are delicious! My only warning is that it was very sweet, almost more like a dessert. I couldn't quite finish the whole thing. I also tried the bacon my husband ordered and it was some of the best cooked bacon I've ever had. Also the large glass of fresh squeezed OJ is well worth the $4.50 so go ahead and get it. I also really appreciated that the manager (I'm assuming that's who he was) stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect. And it was! Overall, it was tasty with a good amount of avocado and my over easy eggs were cooked just right. But, it was a bit lacking on the "goat" side of the equation with just small smear of goat cheese across the waffle cracks, maybe hitting 5-6 squares. The restaurant is set up as fast-casual. You order at the counter, get a number sign, have a seat, and your food is brought to you. I would expect the menu prices for a full service restaurant but not when I am also bussing my own table. I'd been curious about Off the Waffle for a while now, so I'm glad we finally tried it. And don't get me wrong, 3-stars is not bad. It's a solid "good" but nothing more. read more
