Both of the dishes were really good and it had both of us going "Oh, Mama!" I understood why they picked that very apt name for this little spot which is next to a Korean bookstore. P.S. For those of you hate the yellow pickled radish who poke it out with a chopstick. They use a in-house white radish that is milder but still provides the same pickled flavor I believe that is needed in a Gimbap. If you're looking for a way to satisfy the Korean rice cake/ chicken wing monster inside of you, Oh Mama Kitchen is the way to go! Oh Mama Kitchen serves probably the best wings my partner and I have ever had. The wings themselves looked tiny but packed SO much meat and flavor and the breading in the wings was crisp and so delicious. Basically the perfect chicken wing. The rice cakes were so close to being perfect but it was just lacking the variety of flavors, and it's as easy as adding a couple of hard boiled eggs and some cheese! The rice cakes were just one note of flavor but even though it was one note, it was still delicious and something I would eat every day of the week. I cannot say anything really bad about this place and I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys eating food. Tried the kimbap (double roll) and the spicy rice cake (small) and grabbed a tub of the shikhae (dessert beverage with rice). Kimbap and the spicy rice cake tasted clean like your mama would make, instead of msg infused to force it to taste good, so this is a healthier kind of food in my book. Shikhae is supposed to be a sweet dessert type of drink, but here it was just overwhelmingly sweet. Next time, I would just go for kimbap and maybe try some of the packaged banchans (sides), since there is a huge variety of them ready to take and eat. I've have the food twice from here and went to pick up some food for lunch today. Everything we picked up today was great. We love their gimbap and would recommend this place to all of our friends and family. The staff is very friendly and nice. This has always been my go to place for kimbap and spicy raw crab. I've been coming here through Out covid when it was open to support local Korean places like this. Food here has never disappointed me. Recently I came by to pick up some spicy raw crab. Went home immediately to eat it and it tasted sour to me and confirmed by my mom the next day that it was not a fresh batch and color was off as well. I ended up tossing away the crabs and I called the place to let them know that they're bad. At the first the girl on the phone apologized and said they'd credit me back but few days later received a long text explaining how chef who made it insisted they weren't bad so I would have had to bring the crabs back for a refund lol.... Okay this has to be the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had. The chicken is extremely crispy and flavorful. I got the mixed order, and both are sooo sooo good. The ladies are extremely courteous. You'll see then working hard, mixing and packaging foods. It's a tiny shop so I suggest you order ahead of time. After relaxing at a nearby Korean spa, I was craving some chicken wings and I was pretty excited to experience their light, crispy, and nicely battered fried chicken. I ordered the fried chicken wings which they fry as soon as you order. I was given some sweet rice punch (sikhye) which had a refreshing taste and a slight ginger heat while I was waiting for my order. After a short wait, I was blessed with some of the most bomb diggity wings I have ever had in my taste repertoire of fried chicken wings - I had half regular and half special garlic sauce which was very sweet, salty, and savory. Despite being very well battered and fried, the wings did not feel heavy at all and there was a nice crispy-ness that came with ear bite. One thing that came with the order was a cup of pickled radishes which were sweet, sour, salty, and crunchy which perfectly balanced out the fried chicken. I am a huge sucker for pickled stuff so I ate all of it and even drank some of the brine. The service was very good and the cashier was very friendly. When other customer had questions or wanted suggestions, I noticed that the cashier would help and try their best to match whatever the customer was craving. Also, their (owner?) gave me some kimbap on the house as well and they were very well made and had crunchy pickles. Interior is very humble especially with the lofi study beats playing in the backgroundZz. ODEN Everything was served fresh, but the best part was probably the oden. The soup was really flavorful, with onions umami bonito flakes, and nice helpings of oden. The store owner even did us a favor by splitting the large size oden into 3 cups. DDUKBOKKi Standard ddukboki and the spicy sauce is not too sweet like other Korean shop offerings. So sad I didn't know about this place earlier!!! Everything is so fresh and delicious. But what really makes it stand out from all other banchan places is their cleanliness. It's an open kitchen concept store so you can look into the kitchen. Well organized kitchen counters, white dish towel, sanitary packaging process, and cleanliness of the chefs affirmed the food is safe to eat. You can buy all sorts of banchans (side dishes) from mixed vegetable to raw crab marinated in soy sauce. You name it, they've got it! This place is already so awesome with its wide banchan collection but they serve comfort food as well! And the best part? You don't have to tip! I had the fried chicken, beet kimbop, pancake, and fishcake soup. Fried chicken had the perfect breading to meat ratio; I didn't have to take off any breading like I normally do! Beet kimbop was refreshing, pancake was packed with veggies, and fish cake soup was comforting. They put katsuobushi in their fish cake soup which adds more depth. After spending some time there we got a little hungry but wanting to avoid the high prices and mediocre food there, we searched far and wide for some Korean style snack food elsewhere. With that said, I'm not Korean and I'm not a connoisseur of this type of food by any means. My claim to expertise and knowledge of food extends to the Del Taco value menu and New Capital's dimsum dishes. But I still love this place, its cute decor and friendly staff.
