The food took about 7 minutes to come out as 4 other orders were ahead of mine, so I'd say fairly quick. The spam musubi was warm and delicious, with a nice teriyaki glaze on it for sweet and savory flavors. The chicken katsu was crispy and tender, with a sweet katsu sauce. I don't know what happened with this place, but the quality and portions got terrible recently. Used to come in often. For the Location on Santa Rosa Ave. next to Trader Joe's. The barbecue chicken flight was downright awful. Dried out, old, super salty. They served it pretty quick and it wasn't even that hot. No flavor. I was on a time crunch & starving but it just got worse the more i ate. Got like 50-75% of it down and just wanted to let the staff know. I did have good food here a few times like a month or 2 ago. But come to think of it my last visit wasn't great. Same story luke warm, salty, dried out smaller portion. It wasn't even that busy on Thursday 2pm 10/30/25 just me and like maybe one or two other persons in the place. The chef was busy flipping grilling food but the whole time im thinking they must have just dished me out some precooked stuff sitting around The cashier told the manager watching from a table. She had zero empathy. Even mentioned just like well sorry you ate most of it should have said something earlier. WTH i never asked for any of that. Food: 3/5 Chicken volcano and the grilled teriyaki chicken seemed really tough. Of the chicken and the beef, can only eat maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of it l, rest was inedible, and just fat etc. I went here one day before the news popped up on my phone about the arrest and phone recording in the vent in restrooms, I recognized the name and remember I was just there! Terrible experience. They made a mistake on my order which wouldn't be the end of the world, but instead of taking care of it properly, they decided to argue with me and raise their voice with me. Restaurant manager arrested for secretly recording a patron in the restroom. On Monday, December 23, 2024, officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) were dispatched to Ohana Hawaiian BBQ located at 2150 Santa Rosa Avenue to investigate a report of a recording device (cell phone) located in an air vent on the ceiling of the women's restroom. The female patron, who had made a habit of checking vents in public restrooms after seeing several videos on social media about hidden recording devices, examined the air vent upon entering the single-user restroom. She saw what appeared to be a cellular phone in the vent, with the camera lens facing the interior of the bathroom. The patron contacted SRPD and notified the manager of the restaurant then guarded the bathroom, not allowing anyone to enter until law enforcement arrived. Upon arriving at the restaurant, officers removed the vent cover and recovered the phone. They noted the cell phone was recording video and had been recording for approximately 46 minutes. Officers were ultimately able to determine the phone belonged to the restaurant manager, Daniel Nam, a 37-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. Detectives from the SRPD Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Team (DVSA) responded and assumed the investigation. Based on their preliminary investigation, they determined Nam used a concealed recording device to invade the privacy of at least one victim, in violation of 647(j)(3)(a) PC. Detectives seized Nam's cellular phone and laptop computer and will be reviewing the contents of each device to determine how long Nam had been secretly recording people and also to identify any additional victims. Additional charges may be filed against Nam as additional evidence is discovered and victims are identified. Nam was booked into Sonoma County Jail for one count of 647(j)(3)(a) PC. The officer booking Nam into jail requested a bail enhancement of $200,000, which was approved by a Superior Court Judge. At this time, DVSA detectives do not have an exact timeline for how long Nam had been recording patrons in the restaurant but believe it could have been occurring for several months. DVSA detectives continue to investigate Nam's actions and are asking members of the public who believe they may have been victimized by Nam or those with information related to this incident to call the SRPD DVSA tipline at 707-543-3595. read more

I was at Trader Joe's and decided to get some lunch to go at Ohana. I ordered the 2 item combo with Kalua pork and bbq beef. It came with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni. The Kalua pork was the better than the bbq beef. It had a smokiness and was super fall apart tender. The beef was too sweet. It needed some vinegar to balance out the flavor. Cabbage was perfect. This is 2 meals. I'll eat half for lunch and the other half for dinner. Next time, I'll try the musubi spam and seafood items. read more

I called to make sure everything was finalized few days before the date of event and Ohanna was happy to reverify and make sure my order was correct and delivery was the correct time. The food was delivered ontime and quickly, I cant stress how important that was for us. The food was coverd with aluminum lids and still hot. We were told that the foil over the shimp intentionally had holes poked into it so the breading would not get soggy. We removed it right away for a brief 30min in warming oven before dinner and they were sooo good and crunchy. This is the kind of service thats stands out. Perfect. Thank you. WOW the food was so delicious and what a hit it was on our buffet style line up, honestly I have not seen that many people get back in line at a party like this. When you see a sign on the door that says "hiring cooks" you should turn around and find a place that has a capable cook already working. This is the lesson I learned from this experience. I've been coming here for a couple decades and I usually love the chicken mitsubi and the BBQ pork. Well the chicken mitsubi I ordered was flat out sub par. The chicken was not cooked enough and the every bite had gristle and tendon. Then the amount of sauce they put in it was small drop that only flavored a single bite. At least this time I didn't get home and see they gave me spam instead of chicken which has happened a handful of times. Then the BBQ pork which usually has lots of delicious sautéed onions and good pieces of meat. You normally can eat every bite. Well this time 70% of the "meat" was the fat and parts that any other place would not use. Literal trash pieces were used and there was only one piece of meat that was 100% edible. I normally don't complain or bring my food back and this time I would have if I didn't have to go directly to work after I picked this up. It was $18.50 I tipped 2.50 I don't bring my disappointment from the previous experience with me so I won't hold a grudge and hold out on tipping but next time if there even is a next time I'm gonna ask to see it before I accept it. Guy at the counter was extra nice and almost overly friendly, especially for someone handing over a poorly made bag of food. Meat being as expensive as it is right now, this place does a great job of giving a LOT of food for the price point. Ribs, chicken katsu, fried fish, shredded beef, the works, they have it all, and a few niche things on the side like spam musubi (a favorite). Don't be afraid of the spam! It's delicious. I was disappointed once ordering "curry chicken katsu" thinking I was gonna get a clamshell of Japanese curry, but it's just a curry sauce. That didn't end up being a bad thing, because the curry katsu is probably my favorite thing on the menu. A nice, rich curry sauce and a heaping side helming of cabbage, rice AND macaroni salad should have you crawling out of that place full, without a doubt, and they also got some nice tropical fruit drinks up at the counter. One last note, VERY friendly staff. I haven't the slightest notion if it's genuine or not, but it's nice to get greeted politely anyway. My family and I love OHANA. We had them cater our wedding we love them so much. When our friends heard the menu they were even more excited for our nuptials. I used to work next door so I would get a BBQ chicken bowl with no rice and extra veggies all the time. Now that I am married with two teens we stop in for the family meal which is a great deal! Two meats, mac salad and rice. The first time we even had leftovers which is rare. 2nd time we ordered the short ribs which is less meat but more delicious, but really everything here is delicious. It has been years since I've had Hawaiian BBQ, I decided to order the seafood platter and a spam masubi. The platter was amazing, It came with white rice, cabbage, shrimp, macaroni salad, and fish. The macaroni salad was amazing, well seasoned and flavorful. The seafood platter came with great tartar sauce. I loved my seafood platter, it was a little heavy because it was all fried, but even then you can ask for the shrimp to be grilled instead of fried. The service was good, they were really quick, and I was impressed with how fast they could serve such a quality dish. The ambiance was average, this isn't upscale fine dining nor is it a run down location. It's great food, above average sized portions for the price, and it has the option to eat either inside, or outdoors, as well as take out.
