We ended up ordering a SUNRISE ON SECOND STREET (AKA: S.O.S.), a few TEMPURA HAND ROLLS, and SALMON and YELLOWTAIL SASHIMI. Over all, I know Sushi Studio has a lot of great reviews, but during my first visit here ever, nothing really stood out. Everything was pretty much average. The sushi was okay, nothing too great that would make me remember it. The service was good like every Japanese place (reason why I like eating Japanese, they are so nice). The environment was also okay. But at the same time, there was nothing bad or wrong with our experience there. Maybe it's because I've tried other sushi places before or maybe it's because I ordered the wrong dishes during my visit. I ended up giving Sushi Studio a 3/5 star rating. Since this restaurant changed owners, it's not as good. The service is pretty bad. Before, waiters were nicer and more attentive. Plus, they forgot to bring us one of the rolls we ordered, so we had to ask for it and wait even longer. Also, my iced tea was terrible. Worst iced tea I've ever had, tasted like water. Please don't support this establishment, my son is autistic and has a hard time staying quiet and controlling his emotions. The owner told me and my party to, "keep him quiet." I called him over to the table and tried to explain my sons situation and he told us we were driving customers away and to, "keep that stuff at home" whatever that means. Ordered a bento box with a spicy tuna roll, chicken teriyaki, chicken karaage, a cucumber salad, and steamed rice. Tasty, but the teriyaki was chewy (and cold) while the roll was mushy and not very spicy. The karaage, which was the main reason I placed the order, was not very flavorful at all. Was hoping for the gingery, slightly spicy, and super hot experience, but remembered I placed the order to go. Never got a notification that the order was ready, but I picked it up 15 minutes after I placed it so unless it was ready in 2 minutes there was no reason why it should have been cold. The three stars is giving them the benefit of the doubt, and considering the friendliness of the staff. Had I ordered a sit down meal at their restaurant, maybe it could have been better. I'd been wanting sushi so I jumped on yelp and found this joint. I knew I wanted a spicy salmon roll . Looking at the menu I found they offer a combo. I'm down for s combo. Combo= more food. I'd also been craving orange chicken. After one of the kids at work wouldn't stop stopping about their love for orange chicken. So orange chicken was also on my mind. Went here for the first time recently, we had thought about going once before, but turned around once we saw it was connected to a sketchy motel lol. The price was... Expensive considering the location and ambiance. The service was decent, nothing to write home about. We got three rolls, the volcano, the long Beach on 2nd St and another one I can't remember, and fried calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was the WORST calamari I've had in my life, they were giant pieces of what tasted like flesh covered in a cheap tempura. I couldn't get even one bite down, and I love calamari! Was WAY better before as Sushi Studio. After the change of ownership, The experience just wasn't the same, and I used to frequent here fairly regularly. Portions and quality went down and the prices went up. Honestly, to deal with the tiny parking lot, rude security, and homeless crackheads who rent rooms in the adjoining hotel, you have to provide a better experience and price point. Let me start off by saying this was one of our favorite sushi spots/restaurants. My husband and I have been going for years, even after management recently changed.This evening, we arrived at around 8pm, and was seated at a 4person table. We order food and drinks and by 8:40pm we had finished eating. I was still having the last of my drink at 8:45pm when the server comes by and asks us to leave. Why do you ask? Because a party is waiting for a table. Never mind that others at the restaurant have been lingering much longer than us(we had not been there a complete hour). Never mind that we were still consuming parts of our meal (even though we had paid already- we paid expeditiously as a courtesy to the server as we always do when we go out). Leaving the restaurant abruptly was very embarrassing and irritating to say the least. Imagine being engaged in a nice conversation while digesting your meal and drinking when the restaurant suddenly asks you to go... and for no reason other then they see a potential higher revenue opportunity. Well, they have lost a weekly regular customer. Probably not enough to hit their bottom line, and I am saddened as we really like the spot, but I'd rather have my self respect. read more

I came here because Awesome Sushi was closed. It definitely wasn't the freshest sushi I've ever had or the tastiest. I ordered the lobster roll. It's not the typical lobster roll that I'm used to. I give it a 2 out of 5. Then I had the shrimp tempura roll. Like I said, just wasn't really tasting all that fresh. I ate a few pieces of each and then ordered dessert. The fried banana dessert was really good. Probably the only thing I really enjoyed here. I did also get the spicy tuna on top of crispy rice. They put way too much spicy tuna on top. They also have a "special" 5-7pm menu w/ more deals on sushi and apps, just no beer specials. Minus one star for very limited parking and there's usually a wait. My favorite roll is the Carribean.
