I love going to sushi places all over. Idk how this place has good reviews. Service is decent but food is unsatisfying and tables are very sticky even after being cleaned. My Hawaiian roll was not good (opposed to most reviews) the lemons slices were cut so thick i could not eat with my sushi, even after picking out the many seeds left in the lemon! Lovely! This place has a big parking lot right out front. Plenty of tables inside. The drinks came out right away. The waitress checked on us to see how our food was. Free edamame and hot tea. I had the Lion King and a tuna hand roll. Both were great. Sometimes tuna hand rolls are severely disappointing with only one or two small pieces of fish but this one was loaded. They did a good job. We had lunch at another business in this food/court mall--and decided to come back for dinner to try this business for the first time. Please note it is during Covid 19/Pandemic, so you could not eat inside the restaurant. And you need a mask to enter and order from the menu. ALL FOOD IS 'to go' only! We tried it Saturday night and I ordered the 2 item bento for dinner: Tempura and Sushi rolls for $15.00. Bento combo comes with rice, ginger, soy sauce packets, fresh lettuce salad dressed with a miso dressing, orange slice, 6 Tekka rolls and Tempura. My husband had Katsu and something else, but wasn't that all impressed We were very lucky this entire 'mall' area had metal tables/seating area BEHIND this restaurant. We HATE having to bring food home (it gets soggy and cold). And sitting in the car sucks trying to juggle multiple containters. The woman brought out our dinners to the rear 'patio' area in plastic bento throwaway containers. Food was hot ,pretty flavorful, & FRESH as well. My fresh, crisp and hot Tempura had 3 shrimp and didn't scrimp on veggies (at least 7 more items under the tempura). My fresh salmon roll was Tekka style with 6 tiny morsels of delicious-ness. Yummy and fresh. We were also given iced water in throwaway cups, which was really appreciated. They are NOT doing hot tea at this time. Portions are generous. Things are hot and FRESH. The menu is identical. Regardless, they have delicious "American" style rolls. As for nigiri, I've only had unagi and it was average. Pricing is just about what other places charge. Depending on the item, sometimes the price is lower or higher than normal. From the get go, service was friendly, attentive, and fast. I received complimentary edamame and gyoza, which was a perfect touch for the night. I can see why this would be a destination spot for lunch. This used to be one of my fav sushi restaurants but I can't get myself to order from here anymore, especially not after my last Doordash order. I ordered two rolls that were around $20 each and a Chirashi bowl that was around $26. Prices have gone way up and the size of their rolls have gone way down. The rolls were extremely tiny and each slice of fish in my chirashi bowl was extremely thin. I know all about giving out less quantity in an effort to save money but if your prices are going up and you're giving out even LESS, then that's just straight robbery. The first time I came here I ordered the Hawaiian roll with an order of tobiko sushi. First of all, the Hawaiian roll I loved! The roll itself was only ok but that lemon that tops it really makes the entire roll. You have the fish and avocado and then this popping burst of sour and sweet. The Lemon wedge is so thinly sliced and is topped with a sauce which adds a salty sweetness. Yum, I thoroughly enjoyed that roll. Now on the other hand, the tobiko sushi was hard and dry with a residual chemical taste that you usually get from cans. It tasted just like eating the little plastic beads you find in those shower gels. The second time I came, I ventured off and ordered the Yoda roll. I was charmed and curious about all their Star Wars themed menu items. The roll took a long time to finish. And when it came out I can see it's wet. The shape of the roll wasn't round but more of a horseshoe shape from the bottom edge being merely tucked in to stay put. The second I touched my chopstick into it, all the rice crumbled and fell off. It was also doused in two types of cream sauces and the filling is soft to begin with. It was a One note mushy texture from head to toe of this roll. I couldn't finish this roll and I've never not finished a roll before. They kept the doors open and it was so warm and muggy with my warmed sushi; I wasn't feeling well this time. Also, this place does not split checks. No more than twice I believe. So bring cash if you're going in a group. Otherwise they all get very anxious and stressed and upset if they have to divide payments. One of my friends didn't get her change when we split payment. So this place has been hit or miss. I would recommend that one roll. read more

Apparently, this place didn't used to be very good when it was known as Honba. It is now called Okayama Xpress....and I'm so glad I happened in on this idle Thursday! I just watched the chef craft what is simply the most incredible scallop nigiri I have ever had the pleasure of eating!! High quality ingredients, expertly prepared, and melt in the mouth delicious. I've had lunch here twice and I think I'm a fan! The food here is great and the portions are good. The pricing is about the same as sushi restaurants around San Jose. Just got the chirashi bowl today and I was super impressed. Most sushi restaurants usually fill the bowl with a bunch of rice and will put some sashimi on top. Here, there was actually a lot less rice and more sashimi than I expected! I don't like to eat a ton of rice with my sashimi so I really appreciated the lesser portion of rice. The sashimi was tasted fresh and buttery, super delicious. I I was surprised that the tuna was buttery since usually at other places it can be chewy and stringy. My only disappointment was that they include mackerel sashimi instead of shrimp. For 19.95, I think the chirashi bowl is a great deal. The only weird thing was I could not find the chirashi bowl on their menu, however when I asked the waiter she said that they do serve it. It's conveniently 5 minutes away from my work place and is definitely my new go to spot for when I'm craving sushi for lunch! read more

I think the miso soup would be a touch better if they had some green onions in there just to spruce up the flavor. I got the Tuna sashim, gyoza, and galbi. Such a good deal for these 3 items. The waitress was also quick to take my order, and the food actually came out pretty fast (puts the "Xpress" in Okayama Xpress, if you know what I mean) Food: I ordered the Hawaiian Roll for a fairly priced $12.95 pre-tax/tips. The roll tasted pretty standard; Not spectacular, but not bad either. The portion was plenty enough for me and had me stuffed by the time I was done. I have had good experiences here for lunch. There are lots of different vegetables in the special vegetarian roll, and the Inari is quite tasty. The service is also extremely fast, which is great when you are trying to get a quick bite at lunch. I will say that the artistry of the sushi is a little subpar here: the presentation of the rolls has been haphazard and the rolls tend to come apart in my chopsticks.
