While the food is pretty good, the service is horrible. They used to have a very nice waitress there, who is blonde, and at that time there were some other nice waitresses and waiters. I've never heard of this place before moving here and when I came in I was instantly welcomed and seated. Now being the coffee snob I am I always expect the traditional drip coffee but no! They had a French press I mean they literally brought it to your table for you to press..... And it was superb. They have a traditional American breakfasts but they also have their own menu with many things that were delicious! They have these little sausage filled balls that rocked my world. Suuuuuuh good! We were very promptly greeted by who I think is the manager. She was so sweet and started the experience off right!! We sat down and had Amber as our server. She also was there instantly, and asked if we had been there before. We had not, so she mentioned the booklet on the table for restaurant history and told us some of their house specials, like fresh squeezed OJ, abelskievers, and Austrian coffee. We ordered the OJ (great taste, but needed to be colder), sausage abelskievers meal, and a potato pancake. All super good. I reeeeeeaaally liked the potato pancake. We were then taken to our booth. We were provided a taste of the sausage Aebelskivers since it was our first visit. They were savory and very yummy. I ordered the potato pancakes which were good but not very flavorful. My husband got the European breakfast. There was a lot on the plate, pretty basic breakfast but filling. We ordered the Russian rye toast. Made in house with homemade jam. Heavy but good flavor. Fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious! I ordered a delicious caramel coffee it was amazingly good. Our waitress was very attentive, restaurant is clean and provides large servings. Menu has a lot of options so I probably would try the crapes or get more of the Aebelskivers. It had great texture and the taste was delectable. Blueberries were on point. I recommend it! Strawberry Crepes we're okay. It was a little rubbery. I think they put too much eggs in the batter. By too much, I would say 1/4t for every cup of batter. Goulash was delicious. It's homemade food. Not greasy, not too salty. It's something you can make at home but you don't have to because you can eat it here. This dish, though, is huge! Good for 2-3 people. German sausage and eggs were also just fine. Eggs cooked he way we asked. Sausage was just a sausage. Will come back again for sure. It probably just have the goulash to share. Even though the food really was just okay overall - it's breakfast food, the service was great. Food-wise, I would rank this 3 stars but the service was amazing and can't really go unnoticed. We always have such a lovely experience at Old European. My main purpose for going is, of course, the ableskivers. It started as a tradition between some girlfriends of mine. Go to breakfast, eat ableskivers and girl talk. Now it is a regular place I go with my family. Other dishes we enjoy are the Traditional Goulash, Stuffed French Toast and the Crepes. If you go on a Sunday afternoon, you might have slower service because the place is an absolute mad house. At least the one in Post Falls is! I don't usually mind. So glad we stopped here for breakfast on the way through town! The service was phenomenal- Sydney took care of us at the bar and I can't say I've ever had better service. We got "the rolo" coffee drink, which was amazing. It has caramel in it (and other things I don't remember), but you can tell it's actual caramel and not just a pump of artificial flavoring.
