I've been here 3x, but this is my first post. Great service, food, and atmosphere. A lot of food and is a little pricey, but well worth it.

Well OK wow. This place is awesome! It's my first time here, so they gave me some free Aebelskivers (little round pancakes filled with blueberries). They are just totally awesome. The eggs Benedict were also incredible. Fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh squeeze lemon juice, oh my! The service was also excellent. Thank you, Sydney! Amateur Hour At The Old European Order: French Toast *edit Hot Cake Plate On glowing recommendation from a dear friend I decided to visit the Old European, after a good 7 years of not eating here we gave it a second chance. The Service: The kitchen couldn't keep up with the orders, I was told after I had placed a special order to substitute hot cakes for a german potato pancake that they "could not accommodate the special order due to the rush"; this meant it was made and there was no undoing that. We received our food with nearly a 1 hour wait, which included watching people sat 15 minutes after us receive their food first (at least someone was getting fed). Although our waitress offered some half hearted apologies for our plight there were no amendments nor a manager in site, we paid full price for half hearted food and service and left disgruntled. The Food: The german potato pancakes had chunks of uncooked potato, they were still doughy. The hot cakes were crisp brown on the outside and doughy on the inside Aebleskivers were actually the best thing they had, they were cooked correctly and fantastic. The French Toast was run of the mill, and the ham that came with it was served cold and i'm 99% sure was hormel's. Definitely not a place I would recommend. read more

We stopped here on our way back home from a weekend getaway and it was worth every minute we waited! It was a Sunday morning they were pretty busy but we got sat in about 20 minutes and our server was great! She was so helpful and attentive and all of the food was AMAZING! Old European so wants you to be a regular that when they find out you're a first timer they'll go out of their way to take care of you. Best meal and service during our 1,600 mile trip. Our waitperson Wynonna was patient and very helpful in guiding us to a wonderful meal. Rueben sandwich on fresh Russian dark rye was delicious and filling. Free samples of "stuffables" with syrup were tasty and filling. This restaurant is spotless and sets the standard for cleanliness. Beautifully decorated. The menu needs to be studied for all the interesting food items. We almost missed this place as we sped along interstate 90, but were able to back track from exit 7. SPENDY for a breakfast house-but you get a valuable meal. We usually bring out-of-towners down here for a traditional European approach to breakfast-Look up Scandinavian style breakfast for a refresher. I love the Hungarian breakfast goulash-its always nicely prepared and its a massive serving--goes quite well with the insanely spicy per-peri hot sauce for those that REALLY love some heat with your hash. We've tried the fresh omelettes, always nicely done. The ableskivers are amazing, we always upgrade to the stuffed version with the blackberry brandy dipping sauce-WOO HOO! That dipping sauce will get you buzzed with the intensity of the brandy flavor :)))) The euro-style coffee is delicious, I was caught off guard by its sweetness but was impressed with its design. Im not a huge fan of foo-foo coffee drinks but this once was nice. The spiced hot cider is seasonal I believe but worth the try if you've never had it. They always have the most tasty fresh squeezed OJ in town. read more

The food at OE is really really good. I think it's probably one of the better breakfast restaurants in Post Falls. The Ebelskivers are off the wall good and highly addicting. I could eat them all day long. Regardless of what you order, it's guaranteed to be good and tasty. They also serve fresh squeezed OJ and coffee but I've never ordered it. My only issue is that the quality of service varies greatly. Several times in a row did we have to wait extensively for a waitress or bypass her for a manager just to pay a bill. That's my only issue tho and the food makes up for it more times than not. I recommend a visit for sure. read more

Staying in Post Falls at my sister's house. Luckily Old European restaurant is close enough to walk to and double lucky that I looked on yelp and we decided to go there instead of somewhere else! The menus are so wonderful and tell you what you are getting along with a little story about it. On the table is a story book where you can see stories about the staff! My mother, husband and I have gone twice so far! Crepes - They were ok, but be aware they are thick (I usually like mine thin, but the waitress warned us). Pancakes - These were the best pancakes I've ever had, a little crispy with soft fluffy insides! Blueberry aebelskivers - It's like the pancakes except it's a little ball filled with tons of blueberries and happiness! German sausage - Waitress recommended and I'm so glad she did! So full of flavor! I'll have to look for it when we get home because it's so tasty! Austrian Coffee - Perfect after walking in the snow, not too much spices where it's overwhelming. Dutch Baby - The middle is like bread pudding and the whole thing was heavenly. It's huge and sweet and rich. It was a bit too much for me but I think it'd be a really good thing to share with the table next time. I wanted to make a point of how amazing the service was! The waitress both times were so welcoming and sweet! They answered our questions and seemed to be as enraptured with the place as we were! I used to LOVE this place esp there crepes. BUT as of recent the last three times we went they got our order wrong several times, just the waitress not listening I think as far as writing down the right preferences we wanted on that dish. They're friendly, but the place is rarely clean tables have sticky stuff left everywhere each time we had gone in. And just run down. So it's definitely going down hill which is sad because it was our fav spot. read more

Their policies and customer service is lacking. My wife and I live an hour away and we called and they only had a 15 minute wait, when we were 10 minutes away we asked them to put our names on the list and they told us FCFS and refused to put our name on the list. When we arrived, after driving an hour, their wait had jumped up to 25 minutes. Terrible policy. We wound up going somewhere else and they lost a customer for life. When my wife and I find a place we like we frequent it often. We will also be sure to tell our friends and family this place is not worth the drive. read more

We were on vacation in the area. A friend told my wife she had to try this place for breakfast. This is by far one of the top breakfast places I have ever been too. Food is phenomenal (and I save that word only for the best)! It truly was. Everything tasted homemade and fresh! The crepes are delicious but I recommend the Scandinavian plate. It gives you three different types of pancakes. A must get is the fresh bread and homemade raspberry jam. Definitely visit this place if you are near Spokane or Coeur d'Alene. read more

Post Falls, ID has a this string of breakfast joints, like 6 of them in a row and this was the one we chose. This place was clean, and kid friendly. Food was average. It wasn't that special, but because the price wasn't expensive for what you're getting, the value was average. If the price was more, I would give it 2 stars. Overall, not a bad place to try, but not worth the journey unless you live nearby. I wouldn't go back, because there is too many special places to eat in Coere d'Alene area. read more

Still full from my breakfast, I got the soup sampler (Ukrainian borscht, Portuguese sausage and bean, stew) and they gave me three of their blueberry (I'm not going to even attempt to spell the name) danishes on the house since it was my first visit. If you want an amazing and unique breakfast/lunch that is not Dennys then here you go. the majority of its cuisine is Austrian/German and it is to die for. I recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice or Austrian Coffee as your beverage, the goulash as your main breakfast course, and maybe even a mixed plate of their stuffed Abelskievers (plain, blueberry/huckleberry depending on the season, and sausage). This can be on the more expensive end for a breakfast choice but they have less expensive options as well. However, I am never disappointed with the quality, consistency, flavor, service, or even the price because you get what you pay for! Bring an empty stomach.. the portions are well sized! I know they have another one in Pullman, WA which is the same in all areas. It's all family owned business too. The menus have fun facts and information about how their recipes made it on the menu which is unique. Last but not least, as with most breakfast joints, plan ahead for Sunday and Saturday mornings both places are busy! (The Pullman one is slammed on game days and parent weekends so be prepared for a wait those days!). read more
