My wife and I recently checked this place out on a Saturday night. It was very busy with a mix of a few families, young people, older couples, hipsters, and everyone in between . We sat at the bar and had exceptional service. Our bartender was extremely knowledgeable and let us sample of a few beers we were interested in. We settled on the Scent IPA which was amazing. We ordered the wings, which were perfectly done and delicious. They are not huge wings, but I like the smaller size, I feel like the birds weren't pumped with hormones. They were super crunchy and some of the best wings I've had. We also ordered the cheese plate, very good, but small portion for the price. It literally came with 4 crackers, almost insulting. We also ordered a side of fries which were pretty good. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and for the good service. read more

This place is solid. I've been here with friends and on dates. The noise level is just about right, although sometimes it can get a bit loud. Remember, it's a bar and it's supposed to be loud. The bartenders here are always great. They will surprise you with their knowledge of beer in general. Always attentive and always looking to accommodate. I've never had to flag down a bartender here. Btw, don't ever flag down a bartender anywhere. Good bartenders will always know what's going on at their bar and will always acknowledge new arrivals. One of the biggest reasons I really enjoy this place. On to the food. I've had pretty much everything on their menu, and I've yet to be dissatisfied. Always new dishes to try, which will always be recommended by the staff. The star of the show on my last visit was the Baby Squid. Superb! Tender, not chewy. Full of flavor and plentiful. It came with baby potatoes, which were outstanding. Crunchy and soft and delicious. Burgers are top notch and their wings are flavorful. Tip: Try a variety of appetizers and share an entree. This way you get to taste a few of their delicious plates. The beer, which is the main desean you should come here, is pretty darn good. They do a nice variety and they are always brewing new flavors to try. From Strong Ales to IPAs, these guys do right by their brewing. Porters and Stouts too. If you like lighter flavors, they can also accommodate. And I can't stress enough the fact that your bartenders here are knowledgeable about what they serve and can always give your little gems of knowledge regarding beer in general. Other things that I really enjoy about this place is their cleanliness. Bathrooms are always clean and the bar area is always clean, as well. They have dart boards and other board games that you can just grab and bring to your table. Btw, Old Irving is on Montrose Ave and it's conveniently located right off of the highway. Not off the Irving exit. It's Montrose. Yes I know, I can't stress that enough. Confusion. Come and enjoy the beer, and stay for the people and ambiance. Came here for their new vegan burger, and we absolutely loved it! Best version of the Impossible Burger I've had yet, and the fries were delicious. It's a really cool space, has great drinks, and the servers are nice. My boyfriend loved that they offered flights of their house-brewed beers. Local, unique microbrews with amazing tasting prices (usually $2 or $3 a taste pour). They have live music sometimes, the TVs are omnipresent but elevated enough that you could ignore them (or just sit at the bar!), and a great brick & steel tank vibe all around. Service is accurate and friendly, and they make their rosemary burger buns IN HOUSE! They also make bacon burger buns and more... waits haven't been too bad when I've gone, but if there's a big event, definitely get there early. Had dinner there with friends for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it! We had fried zucchini, cheese curds & soft pretzels for apps. All were top notch! Loved the dipping sauces. I had the fish & chips, awesome! Loved the garlic fries! Someone had the octopus, he said it was delicious but wish there was more. Old Irving = New Favorite Had a chance to pop in here on my way to O'Hare, I'm glad I made the effort. The space is warm, welcoming and comfortable with a chill vibe that accommodates all levels of beer enthusiasm. They have a great mix of culinary brews, intricate collab brews, solid foundational styles, and some traditional German helles/kolsch styles that give you a break from the hops arms race to appreciate some other flavors and notes. This is a place where doing a flight is worth it as you're going to be able to try 3-5 very distinct brews. Given the great experience on the taps the kitchen didn't have to be anything special, but it is actually exceptional. Had the spicy chicken sando and it was a big, tangy, delicious mess. The fries that came with could have fed the rest of the bar, and definitely had me beat before it looked like I'd even put a dent in them, but they were compulsively delicious nonetheless. Josh was quarterbacking the whole place while holding down the bar, and was a great host. Each of his recommendations was spot on and his knowledge of and appreciation for the beer on tap was infectious. Old Irving just became a destination for my next trip to Chicago. read more

It was our first time at OIB and we will definitely be back! The reception crew were friendly and personable. We sat at the bar briefly to wait for a table which was ready sooner than they had told us. The service was excellent, everyone was helpful and efficient and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The food was very good and the beer was good too. We tried a beer flight to taste test and each selected a different one. Their wings are very good, crispy with tasty sauces. Recently ordered from OIB for a midweek takeout dinner. The whole experience from ordering over the phone to curbside pickup was wonderful. We had the mac & cheese (a little twist with the Cheez-It topping and we had enough to make a single leftover lunch portion the next day), a Nashville hot chicken sandwich (just the right amount of spicy), and an Impossible burger (at one point I forgot I wasn't eating meat, that's how well prepared it was). Old Irving has very quickly become one of my favorite breweries in all of Chicago. The beers are consistently excellent regardless of style. The Beezer series is already a classic and they do IPAs better than just about anybody else in the city, but don't sleep on their barrel aged program. Cranking out food that matches the quality of the beer is a tall order, but OIB's kitchen does it consistently. Some of the best bar food in the city, without question. Staff is always friendly and great with beer recommendations. They know their stuff not just when it comes to beer in general, but when it comes to which Old Irving beers would mesh well with your tastes. Very, very highly recommend swinging by the brewery for a first date, a night out with friends, or just a chill lunch. read more

The octopus special was amazing, the ipas were top notch, and their barrel aged Belgium quad was fantastic. This brewery is one of the best I have had the luck to enjoy. The tap room is spacious and very inviting. They have a large room off to the side for parties or banquets. It would be a great spot for a shindig! The food here is absolutely incredible! They are making all the bread for the burgers and everything else in house. Best part, the prices are great! The BLTA was DELICIOUS, salad that came with it was meh. The atmosphere is cool, and the service is on point. BFF felt so-so about her burger - wasn't blown away, and the fries definitely reminded us of Burger King fries. Avoid the fries and that side salad. Also, clearly if you're a craft beer fan this joint is for you. However if you're like us, and love a cider, you don't have too many options which is a shame, but I mean it IS a beer brewing restaurant, so I can't really complain there. SIDE NOTE: this place is hopin' on the weekend, expect to wait a wee-bit if you want a table, and there's A LOT of kids here. Went with some out of town guests on a Saturday at 6:30. The place was packed and people were waiting to get in. We expected that this would be a good sign. We were given a beeper and told it would be about 30 mins to sit. We ordered one round from the bar and casually waited. After 30 mins I strolled into the dining room to see if a table was available and there was one. We waited another 15 mins to get seated at that table. It was cleaned and set so it was just the front of house not doing their job. Once we sat, we ordered another round of drinks and apps. It took 15 more min to get the drinks and apps. We were very thirsty and hungry at this time. More delays on ordering. One of the ciders we ordered had turned, which has never happened to me before. I asked the waitress to send it back and ordered another kind. The main course was served and some of the food came out cold. Their special burger was not even warm when it arrived. We had already been there for 2 hours and decided to just get done and out of there. We would have mentioned this to the manager but we never once saw one. Overall for the wait, price and quality of the food, there are many better breweries to go to in Chicago. We will not be back. . read more

You'd never guess that there was a hip brewery out in the middle of Old Irving Park (neighborhood). The brewery situated near I-90, and the Montrose Blue Line stop. My friends and I had come out for Sunday Funday and we were not disappointed. I had their seasonal Stout (Dunes of the Cape) that had notes of dark chocolate, coconut, and some tropical fruit. It was delicious! The stout wasn't overly heavy or sweet, and it paired really well with my eggs benedict. One of my friends had the Country Fried Chicken, which looked AMAZING; giant extra crispy chicken steak on a bed of country potatoes and topped with a fried egg. I'm going to have to add that to my "To Try" list. While there we chatted up one of the master brewers, and he had told us that many of the vegetables they use are sustainable and grown by local farms. I wish I could remember which city farms they use. They also hired on a baker, and bake their bread in house. Other beers that I have tried is the Guten Tag - Kolsch, and the Rat Pack - Belgian Dubbel. The Guten Tag was crisp and refreshing. The Rat Pack was ok. read more

Came here for lunch today. Super nice staff, and me and my coworkers really enjoyed the food. I had the corned beef brisket sandwich and it was AMAZING. Homemade 1000 island is really tangy. Absolutely love this place!!! Their food and beer are amazing! We did a pickup order and I got the po boy cod sandwich and my husband got the cheeseburger. Both were very tasty. Loved the creole sauce on the cod sandwich. We also ordered a few beers, and some merchandise, and they forgot to put the merchandise in our pickup order. We called and they said they would throw in a free 4 pack of beer for the inconvenience. They also gave us an extra poster! Wonderful experience here! The beers were all awesome- I enjoyed all of them and I tried 7. The barrel aged quad and ginger lime gose were my favorite. The staff was great, very attentive and knowledgeable. The brewer Trevor was so kind to take time out of his schedule to talk to me. One of my new favorite hangouts! OIB delivers on good ambiance, food, service, and BEER. Great spot for a hang out with a group of friends or a date night. So many games to choose from. Service is friendly and helpful, and not looming over you to finish drinks or games. Def recommend beer flights if you're a picky beer drinker like me- there's something for everyone! I've been a couple times during different times of the day and there's always a diverse crowd, which I appreciate. The space is spacious and trendy and good for birthday celebrations! Parking can be tricky depending on the time you go but it's definitely worth circling a few times for. Can't wait to go back! read more
