Pulled brisket was a huge letdown. The texture of the meat seemed like it was cooked in a crockpot, not a smoker.

I had been waiting to try Fresh Off the Boat for a while and finally stopped by for lunch. The…read morespace is roomy with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It is a very casual setup, so do not expect an elevated dining experience. We ordered the FOB shrimp and the Chicken Katsu plate. The shrimp arrived a bit too sour and noticeably greasy for my taste. The Chicken Katsu was average and lacked the flavor and crispness I was hoping for. The macaroni and cheese that came with it was also quite dry, which made the plate feel incomplete. Service is minimal since you order at the counter and pick up your food yourself. I went in with high expectations and left feeling disappointed, especially considering how popular the place seems to be. That said, I am still open to giving it another try. There are a few other dishes on the menu that look promising, and I hope they will deliver a better impression on my next visit.

I stopped into Fresh Off Da Boat to pick up lunch after some meetings in the area. Honestly, I'm so…read moresad it's been so long since my last visit, because this place serves up some amazing food. The menu changes depending on what they're making, but they have certain items that are pretty consistent. One of those is poke. I LOVE their poke here, they have their own seasoned poke mix with fresh fish, veggies and sauce and it is delicious. They offer it as nachos, a bowl, or loaded fries and while I'm tempted to try some of the other options the bowl is my go-to. The poke bowl is $15 and comes with rice with furikake as well as a good portion of poke. Like I mentioned, it's preseasoned and it delicious. The ingredients are fresh and I love their flavor combination. I would love if the bowl came with a scoop of mac salad, but with the portion at this price I'm happy to add it as a side. I ordered the spring rolls ($4) and it came with five pieces of crispy and flavorful fried spring rolls. Great value for the price. I also ordered the pork laulau ($14) and Musubi ($3) for my husband and the portions on these were also great. The musubi was hot and flavorful and they gave me some FOB sauce with the musubi that went surprising well together. The laulau plate had mac salad, rice, and the wrapped pork. The pork was fattier than some of the laulau I've had in Hawaii, but was flavorful and the whole plate was a perfect portion for the price. The team working here was very friendly and helped me get in and out with my to-go order pretty quickly. The food was packed with care and made it home and was still nice and hot after the drive. They use high quality to-go containers and line them with aluminum foil which is a nice touch. They also made sure the vents were open on the spring rolls so they'd stay crispy. They have plenty of seating inside, as well as some outdoor seating. This restaurant is a bit tucked away, but has plenty of parking. I will definitely be back, and I won't wait as long between visits, because the food is so good! Check out their instagram for specials.

Listen, I already loved Camp Cove for coffee and breakfast but I FINALLY stopped in for lunch and…read moretried their Cove Burger. I have seen others post about the burger and every time they share photos on social media I would tell myself I need to try it. Well, the day finally came, I stopped in for lunch with my dog and ordered their honeycomb cold brew and the Cove Burger with fries and then grabbed one of the small tables outside. This restaurant truly maximizes it's space with seating inside and a couple tables outside. It gets great natural lighting and the front counter is prominent when you first walk in making the whole flow of the place very thoughtful and smooth. The team is so friendly, from the owner Jon to the amazing team working in the kitchen and on drinks. They're all so nice to interact with and always have great suggestions and service. My normal order here is the flat white and I've been working my way through their menu. Everything is delicious, high quality and fresh. If you get a chance to try their fresh baked cookies- do it! The Anzac biscuit with a cup of coffee is a perfect pair! All the breakfast items are amazing and the bacon is THICK. Back to my latest visit: Jon brought out my burger and cold brew and it was BEAUTIFUL (photos included for proof). The patty was flavorful, the bun was unbelievably fluffy and soft, and it had the perfect ratio of cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion. The special sauce was the perfect touch- I didn't need any extra sauce with it, it was perfect as is. The fries are an optional add on and I decided to go for it so I could share some with my dog, and there was a very generous portion of crinkle cut fries. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The honeycomb cold brew was DELICIOUS. I typically get the flat white, but like to explore their specialty drinks. They're known for having amazing drink offerings. I've been told their matcha is top tier (though I'm not personally a fan of matcha) but their coffee always hits for me. This is one of my favorite cafes in the Sacramento area, especially when it comes to great drinks paired with a real meal.

So I stop by my bro Steven's place and ask him where's a good coffee spot around here?…read more A's game is on and this man throws me a fastball right down the middle and absolutely sends it over the fence with The Tree House Cafe didn't even hesitate. Just gave me the address and said "street parking bro... good luck." Pull up and this place looks like your childhood friend's house that grew up, got a little money, found peace and turned into a café . Super cozy, cool vibe and honestly just has personality to it. Walked in and instantly greeted by Elena and let me tell you... Elena wasn't taking orders she was basically an offensive coordinator drawing up plays for breakfast lol . I told her it was my first time and she goes "I got you." That's all I needed to hear. She hooked me up with the Berry Blossom Milk Tea, Ultra Violet iced coffee, blueberry muffin and the breakfast burrito with bacon and avocado. Now the drinks? Solid. That Ultra Violet coffee had lavender, caramel and honey all entering the chat at once like they were forming the Avengers . Somehow it worked. Then came the burrito... now listen... at first I'm sitting there like "alright everybody calm down it's just a breakfast burrito." WRONG. This thing came out throwing hands immediately eggs, potatoes, bacon, avocado all packed into this perfectly toasted tortilla. Then the salsa showed up like a surprise guest star and took the whole thing to another level. I almost looked around for somebody's grandma in the back yelling "make sure that boy leaves full!" Sat outside watching the A's game, drinking coffee, enjoying the breeze and honestly it was the perfect Sunday reset. Steve my brother... you absolutely crushed this recommendation

Water is in a dispenser inside and doesn't come with ice. You will need to let the front cashier know if you want ice. I feel like they should just put ice in the dispenser. Love the outside, great to have kids running around. The wait for our food took about 15 minutes I think, not too bad. I would return here, I really love the BLTA sandwich.

It's located in a government building and has cafeteria style seating. What's great about BB is that everything can be customized to accommodate various diets. The concept is all about customization, where you choose your bowl or spring rolls, type of protein or vegetables, and sauces. They even have Vietnamese coffee, teas, and fresh sugarcane squeezed right in front of you! Vietnamese Drip Coffee 4/5* Not as strong as I'd like but considering that they cater to the downtown working demographic, it's still pretty good. You can even customize it to be vegetarian friendly by subbing condensed milk with condensed coconut milk. Bánh Mì with Lemongrass Tri-tip 4/5* The bánh mì overall was satisfying and the ingredients worked well together. The bread had a light crisp on the outside, was fluffy inside, and ratios of the ingredients were balanced. I couldn't taste the lemongrass in the tri-tip, though, so it wasn't worth the extra $ for it. Spicy Wildrice Soup 5/5* I had a sample of their soup before at a pop-up event and knew I had to get the full portion. This soup has a slight kick if you don't eat very spicy like me. The flavors were explosive - intense, creamy, and perfectly salted. There's also fried onions on top for an added crunchy texture. Spring Rolls with Night Market Crispy Tofu 5/5* First off, these spring rolls are not your average roll. They are the size of the container itself and stuffed to the max. There's so many veggies that you feel light after eating this meal. I chose the crispy tofu as protein and it's the best! The tofu was actually crispy, wasn't oily or soggy, and had a ton of flavor from the seasonings. Dipped in peanut sauce, this was so delicious! During the weekday lunch rush, make sure to come early or order ahead online. There's always a long line. If you're only ordering drinks or grabbing a pastry though, it comes out quick.
