I have eaten here many time and the food is consistently great. I recently had the N.Y. Strip Steak that claimed to be 14 ounces and I can tell you that it was at least 20 ounces and was the juiciest flavorful steak I've had anywhere. Worse sinning experience Ive had in a longtime. Pop was watered way down tasted Like crap. Ranch dressing brought back memories of eating Elmars clue as a kid and the Buffalo Meatloaf was gross and raw. After telling the waitress that I did not like the meat and felt that it was raw. She agreed to remove it from the Bill. Very fair I felt. Then minutes later the cook came out to debate the raw meat and insisted I didn't know what I was talking about. He stated hes cooked for 40+ years and that meat was cooked twice at 140 to which I replied, isn't meat suppose to be cooked around 165? I feel like this place is struggling to stay afloat. Went there on a Thursday night and was one of 3 tables in there. Food and drinks are WAY over priced for what you get. My mixed drink was very weak. I had the perch and my husband had the Walleye. Food was tasty but portions are small and only come with 2 small redskin potatoes and a small cup of coleslaw. It's a really nice small place with decent prices and pretty darn good food. Try the scallops or the whitefish. For a small plate I really liked the smoked salmon. I worked here for one day...back in my 20's... I knew they had good food, but somehow, I've never been back. When others call this place "a best kept secret" they aren't lying. I guess it's because of it's location that it doesn't immediately pop into your head. If you don't exit the freeway at the Orchards (business exit) you're gonna miss it....and I usually do.. But no more...my experience there last night was a really great one! I had the Lake Superior Parmesan encrusted white fish and it was VERY tasty! With it I had red skin potatoes, that although were completely bare, somehow seemed very creamy, they melted in my mouth. I was in amazement and wondered how I could re-create this wonderful thing on my own, I also had creamy coleslaw... VERY Very delicious dinner. I really wanted to try the flash fried scallops, but didn't see them on the menu, too bad I hadn't asked the waitress for the specials and I wished she would have offered them, because there they were, but hey, a reason to go back. The service was really excellent as well....everyone from the hostess to our waitress was really friendly, making you feel at home in this quaint, rustic little restaurant. This place is definitely a wonderful place to take a date too, it just has a wonderfully warm feel to it, and I noticed an outdoor patio as well! Prices were reasonable too!! Locally this is a go to. Atmosphere is rustic, comfortable and "homey" ESPECIALLY in the winter, its the PERFECT cozy, fairly romantic place. As a long time resident I have always found the waitstaff to be very friendly and accommodating. Prices are equitable or better to value. Food: The chef is quite accommodating. We tried Old Stone on a Saturday night and there were not many people there. I don't know why because the food was awesome! We love seafood so we were lucky because it makes up most of the menu. The portions were generous and well priced. The specials all sounded delicious so it was hard to pick just one. We will definitely be going back to try some more of their menu items. The appetizers also looked amazing, it might be nice to stop in for drinks and appetizers one night also. The only down side is the atmosphere because there were so few people there. Cozy, comfy, laid back. Couldn't believe the food that came out of the kitchen. Awesome bread sticks. We got the calamari and fish and chips. Both were awesome. Great wine list. I want to give the Old Stone more stars but we were disappointed on our last visit. It wasn't over crowded so I'm wondering what went wrong. The food was not as good as the first time we went last summer. The shrimp had a bleach taste and their signature pan fried walleye was too greasy, like it was cooked in oil that wasn't hot enough. Worst experience ever. If I could give the review zero stars instead of one, I would. I ordered a steak and asked that it be cooked medium rare and also explained that the potatoes should not have any butter on them, as I am allergic to dairy. The first steak came out medium. I sent the steak back. When the second steak came out, it was cooked great, but there was butter all over the potatoes. I once again sent the steak back. The cook came out to the table, I assumed to apologize, but no! He threw his hands up I the air and screamed that this has never happened to him! As if it is my fault that he has never screwed up twice on a meal! I got up from the table and asked the hostess to speak to a manager. She went into the back and told me that the managers are busy. I asked doing what? She said cooking. Come to find out the rude cook is one of the brothers who own the restaurant. Unbelievable! So not only did they mess up my food, they were rude about it and then no one wanted to talk to me about it. Interesting that they have no front of the house manager. Anyway, I go back to the table and my third steak comes out. The other brother brings to to the table, pretty much throws it on the table and yells that he has plenty of meat in the back in case I am not happy with this one. Unbelievable again! I asked the sever that the steak be taken off of the bill, but guess what? That didn't happen! This place is ridiculous. Never going back. Food is mediocre and owners are sooooo rude. Food was ok.. Up Charged a salmon salad substituting chicken$3.00! Last time I purchased salmon it was $4.00 a lb more than chicken! Manager or whomever corrected bill back to the salmon price. Decent Service & atmosphere but way over priced.. My "well portioned out" veggies were luke warm, send back for a "re-heat. Breadsticks, which I don't eat, were swimming in butter so if you like that you'll enjoy these. We have enjoyed Old Grill for years. We have had variety of fish dishes plus great selections of wines. We have taken many friends there and enjoyed the food and the surroundings. Staff is pleasant and once in a while the chef owner will come out and say high. If you want refined delicious and great surroundings try it. We found this little gem a few years ago and it is our little hide away. This quaint, casual old rustic charm is a fantastic place to eat. Well, with a heavy heart I am writing this. This was always our favourite place that not only my husband and I would go to but my extended family as well, however our experience yesterday Friday March 1st was TERRIBLE. It started out wonderful till I sent back my Sea Bass ( which is one of my favourite fish) because it was very fishy tasting and on the tough side for Sea Bass. Let me just tell you I NEVER send anything back, but I thought this time I was not going to be able to put this one down, so the VERY KIND waitress asked how everything was and proceeded to let her know that is was not good it was VERY FISHY TASTING AND TOUGH!!!! She took it back for me and I order the Parmesan Encrusted Haddock instead....Well, We got a visit to our table from a not so happy chef as he proceeded to ask what was wrong and I said" I was sorry, but it was very fishy tasting" he yelled at me and said, "then how can I possibly please you that is my freshest fish we have here, how do you want me to please you", Shook his head and walked away. Unbelievable. Terrible attitude. Showed up with friends from out of town, 8 of us, and the Cook came out of the kitchen and yelled at us, stating they "can't handle 8 people" at 7:00 and proceeded to reiterate that fact in a loud obnoxious manner. Until, we had to tell him that we got it so he would stop. Then we left, and so did the other groups that were waiting. Food was ok but waitstaff totally unprofessional. I felt like I was at a house party as an uninvited guest. I tried to order one of three or four drink options all of which the barstaff was unable to make. I would recommend the bar spring for a bartender book with some recipes in it. I was then told by the owner that "we are not in the Caribbean and we dont make thous drinks" in a quite rude tone if not worse. But continued to off me a martini although we were not in New York either. Hands down the worst dining experience I have ever had and we eat out alot and usually enjoy it. My husband and I were thrown out of Old Stone by the owner. My husband had asked the waitress to have his steak cooked a little longer - he had ordered medium rare and the steak was served rare and cold. The owner came out of the kitchen raving: he told us to leave in a shower of expletives unlike anything I have ever heard. We should have known better than to go there because we've had problems before. Two times, we were served old shrimp (nothing in the world like a mouthful of ammonia) and once we were served a seriously overcooked steak. It's too bad because we have had excellent meals in the past. It's definitely off our list for good now! read more

We highly recommend this restaurant. One of the owners (Bill & Marty) are always there. The food is awesome and always consistent. They have a great wine list with great prices. The wait staff is nice and very good. You must also save room for one of their desserts, they are so yummy. Just one word of caution. I don't understand all those great reviews. Five of us were there for dinner last night. Yes the service was good, but that about all. Prices were high for the portions served, The selection was nothing special, everything was extra like a small side salad for 4.95. All the seafood is fried except the perch. I am sorry, but there is no way this restaurant deserves more than 2 stars. I had mussels which had absolutely no flavor, what happened to the white wine and the garlic???? it tasted like it had been simmering in chicken broth. Very disapointing dinner. This has become one of our favorite places to eat. Service, food and atmosphere are excellent. Love the duck tenders to start off the meal. The pork tenderloin is wonderful and we've tried other dishes as well and have never been disappointed. read more
