This place always has a line, and for good reason. Even though everything is a little pricey because of the location, the portion sizes are pretty good! The place has a rustic feel, but not tons of seating. The cafe is connected to a casino, and the staff is so friendly. We waited about 40 minutes for our table, and the service was fairly quick! The staff is kind, all wearing masks and gloves. This is a perfect place for a burger and good fries, but if you're feeling expensive go with the 30 dollar bison sirloin. For families with little kids, it would be a bit expensive to have unfinished meals but for 5 starving adults, it was awesome! Also, the bathrooms are exceptionally clean. read more

I came here with my family after a day at Yellowstone. We were in the mood for steak and we were hoping Old Town would satisfy our craving. Unfortunately, everything was extremely sub-par. We ordered ribeyes and a top sirloin which were huge portions and came with BBQ beans, chicken and rice soup, and mashed potatoes. I ordered my ribeye medium rare but it was super dry, as if it had been reheated on a grill instead of being freshly grilled. My mom got the top sirloin and was basically unable to cut through it without expending all her strength. When we mentioned how dry her sirloin was to the waitress, she just said "well, it's not as good of a cut as the ribeye." Ok....? Just because it's not as good of a cut as the ribeye doesn't mean it should be inedible. Steaks also didn't pack much flavor so you were basically forced to eat them with steak sauce. The food was also very expensive. Don't come here, find someplace better. read more

The food was good. The service was horrible. We were there Thurs 8/4/22 and our waitress was horrible. We were pleasantly greeted by a blonde who also seated us. Then a young, nice guy brought us water. It took forever to get our order. Mind you there were on 3 other tables in the restaurant and they already had food. Our waitress finally comes to the table. No name. No name tag. We give her our order. She puts the order in and stands at the bar behind us eating. A bell rinds, she Brian's Gs my husbands food. We wait (he's not going start his meal until I receive mine). About 7 minutes later, another bell. She brings mine. I had pancakes. I wanted coffee. So, I had to call her from her eating and asking for it. I wanted a bowl for syrup (I'm a dipper). I had to ask another person... because again. She was standing at the bar eating. They have some special syrup the promote. I used it because it was all I saw. Another table came in and she walked by, I ask for butter and my husband ask for jelly for his toast. Apparently all other tables get a basket of both with their food. So, she pulled one from another table and left our bill. She went back to eating. I had to get her attention to get a coffee refill. This girl needs to get another job or be retrained. She has brown wavy hair. She never ask how is everything. Can I get you anything. She never came to the table unless we got her attention. Oh and they do have regular syrup. She took it to the other table when she took their pancakes out. She was just to busy eating to pay attention to us. We paid almost $37 for breakfast. We usually tip 25-30% for good service. This girl got a $5.00 tip which was $5.00 more than what she deserved. My tip to her should have been...eat before you go to work or in the kitchen. read more

This family owned cafe is a hidden secret in West Yellowstone. We just needed an evening meal at 8:30 pm on a Sunday. What a wonderful surprise! We ordered the fried chicken and it was fantastic. Stumbled upon the Old Town Cafe while leaving Yellowstone this morning and it was quite the find! Not sure if this is family owned but definitely a local feel and all of the staff was super friendly. My mom loved the apple cinnamon pancakes, especially with the flapjack drizzle! My sister has the vegetarian omelette and loved the pesto. My dad and I went with eggs with the Buffalo patty - definitely unique! We would all recommend. read more

Wow! Family owned and operated. They make nearly everything in house, including the breakfast sausage. The soup is incredible. Dessert seems to be apple or cheery pie with ice cream. Both varieties are delicious; get the huckleberry ice cream with your pie. Breakfast here will hold you over for a full day of Yellowstone National Park visiting. Then come back for dinner. We did that three days in a row. I'm not a big fan of freshwater fish; I love salt water fish. I had the trout here and they changed my mind about freshwater fish. I would order it again if I'm back here. Comes in fresh from Idaho and was great. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Nice sized filet; not a whole fish; which I prefer. Steaks (Buffalo or Angus, your choice) are excellent as well. I got hooked on the Outlaw Amber Ale (Bozeman MT brewery) which they have on tap. This is an outstanding family owned restaurant. It is still in the family and they are doing Founder, Grandpa, proud. Breakfast made up for us arriving too late for a meal last night. It was worth the wait! There were many delicious standard breakfasts but a few (buffalo scramble) atypical for those passing through. The bacon strips were huge and perfectly cooked; crispy but not-too-much. Breakfast was bacon, eggs, pancakes, and flavorful, heavenly hash browns. The menu stated the potatoes were from Idaho and they peeled, smashed, and mashed them. That may not be verbatim but it made me smile and it was true!! The staff was universally wonderful. They were friendly , fast, efficient, helpful, and kind. We have noted how typically delightful every (I am not exaggerating) restaurant experience has been because of the hard working and enthusiastic staffs. Especially here! At The Old Town Cafe, everyone wants to be here and it is heartening to see fully staffed establishments. Dare I say this is how is used to be - everywhere! We were going to eat across the street but there was a long wait and we are glad there was. Old town cafe was delicious home cooking! We got the trout, Buffalo burger, and chicken fried steak only request would be to have white gravy with chicken fried steak but the brow. Gravy was still good!! Chili was delicious!!! This place is AWESOME. They're killing it even with all the COVID restrictions. We had to wait to get a table. That's usually a good sign. They had several locals there. That's also a good sign. The host was delightfully happy. Our server was Colten and he did a great job too. We both had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and hash browns. The food arrived quickly, was hot, and delicious. We're only in West Yellowstone for 3 mornings. I'm having something that needs syrup tomorrow because Colten said his parents make the syrup and it's amazing. Great spot for lunch! Even with Covid restrictions our party of 7 were seated right away. Staff all wore masks. Menu was limited due to COVID, but plenty options for all tastes and cravings from our group. Soup of the day was Mexican Sweet Corn and was fresh and delicious. Between all of us we tried the burgers, french dip sandwich, fish and chips. All were hot and delicious and served up quick. Fries were a favorite among the group. Brock was our server, and was very friendly and attentive to our large party. He was interactive with food suggestions in a non-intrusive way. Came here on a Yellowstone trip expecting something special . Ordered their most expensive menu Item with high hopes that due to the price tag I wouldn't be disappointed. I was proven wrong. Buffalo steak for over $30 was at least 2oz gristle. I also had no flavor with the bison steak. Maybe they used pepper before grilling, but essentially came to me with NO flavor. Solid food for the price point. Quick service at the bar, expect a wait for prime times such as breakfast and dinner from Park visitors. Buffalo burger and eggs breakfast - nice. Had the delicious shredded sirloin with brown gravy dinner and the lodge fries. The fries are fresh cut and were cooked perfectly. The dinner also came with a salad.
