We went in for a really late breakfast and it was pretty solid! The service was just fine, they kept our drinks filled and were prompt getting our orders. Husband had an omelet, he didn't talk much while he ate and loved it. I had biscuits and gravy, not the best.. not the worst. The gravy could use a little improving. My eggs, over medium, were cooked perfectly. We'd go back, especially since there seems to not be a ton of options for early lunch/late breakfast (that might just be our perception since the other place we tried was closing when we walked up at 11am). What bumped this down to 3 stars was the hashbrowns. I've had frozen that had better texture! Likely fried on high heat so that they were crispy but not getting the centers cooked right (they were fairly thick cut). read more

Sausage - not links or patties, but rather pork sausage smashed flat on the griddle, I like that. Hash browns - highly recommended. The place looks interesting from the outside and inside it was also nice but looks like many other restaurants of this type we have been to. Service was very friendly and quick. The ONLY reason I'm not giving this a 1 star is because some of the people clearing the tables tried to help us. We enter the restaurant and not only were we not greeted, but right after the guys cleaning the tables says he will clear the nearest table off for us to sit down, some woman comes up to them (right in front of us) and tells them she needs that table...not even acknowledging us. When we ask since she is taking our table away then how much longer will it be before another opens up, she tells us 10 minutes. Why should we wait 10 minutes for a table when we are literally standing right in front of one? The guys clearing the tables just looked at us as if to say "sorry.". It wasn't their fault, but we won't be going there again. We left. read more

This place is awesome. I had the trout with mashed potatoes/gravy and green beans with Texas toast. The trout was cooked perfectly as the potatoes and beans. We got lucky that the Old Town Cafe was open. We arrived in town on May 5th with most restaurants not opening for the summer season until May 7th. We had burgers with homemade french fries. Outstanding food!!! Asked about their Chicken Fried Steak and of course it is homemade. We will be stopping in tomorrow morning for breakfast on our way into the park. read more

The food and service were great, so why a 1 star review? I am as certain as I can be that they served me a beef hamburger instead of a bison burger. I've had many a bison burger in my time, and this did not taste like one. I asked...they told me it was bison...so how far do you take it? After two bites my wife and I looked at each other and both said, "This is not bison." It was an excellent burger - and the fries were particularly outstanding - but it wasn't bison. And I paid four dollars extra (per burger x 3) for bison. read more

This place is great! We enjoyed several meals here during our stay in West Yellowstone. The pancakes with their house made Flapjack Drizzle syrup was awesome! We did buy a couple of the Drizzle to take home! Along with the pancakes, the eggs were cooked to perfection! We also tried the hot roast beef sandwich and bison burgers that was also tasty and yummy. For us, Old Town Cafe will be our restaurant whenever we visit West Yellowstone. David & I had lunch on 6-27-08. The portions were generous, fries have peel left on (which I love), mashed potatoes were from scratch, and I think so was the gravy. In fact, I think the green beans I had were fresh cooked too. Service was friendly and our waitress continued to "stay in touch" to meet our needs. (Very Nice!!!) Prices are reasonable for this area. Would love to try their "breakfast special" sometime soon. Will be in the area for two months so should have that chance. I would recommend this Cafe, at least they don't charge extra for onions and cheese on their Buffalo Burger as a nearby competitor does.
