We went for a late lunch and there was only a few people there. We had burgers and they were perfect! Tasty and flavorful. Our family has been coming here every year for as long as I can remember for breakfast!! They have the best thick French toast! Their hash browns and hot chocolate are always a must have when we go too! The staff are always welcoming and provide great service! We arrived today and was starving( I thought so) , so we stopped here to eat I ate the chicken special with dressing. (Yummy). My husband had the other special which was a porkchop with potatoes and carrots. We needed a home cooked meal after being off and on the road for awhile. You can't go wrong here. I'm giving this 4 stars because the food was good and the service was great! After a 4 hour power outage in the town, they were one of the only places to open back up (around 8:30pm-ish). They were slammed, but handled the pressure marvelously! My kids loved their food, which was a big plus! My husband enjoyed his chicken fried steak and I thought my hamburger steak was great!!! Food is very good. American home cooking style, prices are very reasonable. Service is polite and efficient. The trout is perfectly done and served with potatoes or fries. The beef and gravy will take you back to Sunday dinners at mom's house. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

My family visited this restaurant in July on our trip to Yellowstone. We were staying in town and on our last night saw the sign for biscuits and gravy. The next morning we got up and headed over. After walking in the door and waiting 10 minutes before we were acknowledged for seating, my sister-in-law asked if we could be seated in the side room, out of heavy foot traffic flow. Even though there were several other customers in that room already dining and tables available, we were told in a huffy tone that we would have to wait. We waited another 10 minutes before we asked the cashier about seating. Again we were told to wait! Never once did we feel like our business was needed or welcomed by this establishment. In fact, we watched with disgusted amusement as the young staff seemed only eager to find out what their tips were from the tables that were leaving. I can't tell you about the food...we were never seated and after that 20 minutes we decided to go down the street to a Pancake house where we were seated right away and actually smiled at as though our business was truly apprecaited! Rest assured, I will be recommending the pancake house to friends and family headed that way....as for Old Town Cafe....their management might want to be a little more selective on hiring staff with good people skills! read more

Not many choices of salad bar. They even ran out of some kind of veggies and it took them so long to refill. They offered specials, but when we asked them, they said there were sold out. And we ordered smashed potato as sides, but they gave us baked potato. Disappointed. read more

Can't give enough good complements. Great food and outstanding customer service. Staff was warm and friendly and went out of their way. Cozy family atmosphere and good old fashion family cooking. Arrived there for dinner and they were very busy. Asked to sit at a booth where a family had just finish dinner. As busy as they were they immediately cleaned the table and seated us and took our drink order. They had just run out of the draft beer I order and my glass was only 90% full so the waiter told us it was on the house. I ordered the Bison steak which was a lot cheaper than any other place in town. I had never eaten Bison steak and made the mistake of ordering it extra rare because I had been told by several locals that bison was dryer than beef and I like my steaks rare. I sent the steak back to have it cooked a little more. The waiter was very pleasant about it and apologized, which was my fault for actually telling them I wanted it raw. The steak came back perfectly cooked and was delicious as was the rest of our food. The cook and manager even contacted us to make sure the steak was cooked to my satisfaction. My wife contacted the cafe after getting home in Southen California and realizing she had left her scarf there. They mailed the scarf to our house within days at no mailing expense to us with a really nice letter from Jeanette Swanson. The cafe was one of the highlights of our trip to Yellowstone. If I could have less than one star for a rating I would put it, because a one star ratting is way to generous for this establishment. My experience was dreadful to the loud staff to finding a piece of a plastic bag that had gotten swallowed half way down my throat that I had to pull out because it made me gag. Then I find a piece of metal in my buffalo stake burger that chipped my tooth. So what I have to say is whatever you do don't go here you can find a better place to eat at then this. read more

This place is a nice place to have dinner and much better than the other place we at at while in WY. The Bison burger was excellent as was the open face turkey sandwich dinner. Everything tasted homemade and the atmosphere was casual and the place was very clean. It looks to be a good breakfast place as well! I would eat here again. read more

We had the club, salad bar, fish and chips. Salad bar was fresh and varied, Dutch apple pie was great!. Club had great bacon. Fries with club were okay, I added pepper and salt to them. READ BEFORE GOING!! I was appalled at the lack of sanitation. Let me start by the glass I was given to pour my water into, had dirty residue that has not been scrubbed between customers. As I looked at the cup closer I was disgusted to see flakes of food on the cup as well as a grimy texture from the food buildup. I couldn't believe it. Was it not only the cup that was pitiful so was the service and the food. HORRIBLE. My roommates and I headed in there after a long day at Yellowstone and all got chicken fingers. How could you screw up chicken fingers, we thought. Come to find out you can! I should have never wasted my time or money on this place I should have just gone down to McDonald's, the food will be much better. Also to note, 4/5 of us got sick from the food we ate.
