Old Town Cafe has good food overall, the problem here is with Shannon. I have gone in here 3 different times now, way before the11:30 breakfast cutoff (10:30) and Shannon has told my party of between 3-10 that breakfast is no longer being served and they've switched to lunch. Each time I've told her that it's way before the cut off and and the website clearly says 11:30 and she very rudely recommends we go to Running Bear Pancake House down the street (which we have done each time). Running Bear has good food, but the wait is long due to everyone leaving Old Town and going over there. If going to West I recommend not wasting your time with Shannon and her by design schedule. read more

Catching up on reviews! When we first got to West Yellowstone this was our first restaurant we ate at. Brock was really nice. The whole staff is. They make you feel like your around family. We've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. Really like the pancakes and the specialty syrup the family makes. Make sure you buy a bottle to take home. We ate here more than anywhere else over the summer. Came in for hot chocolate on those colder days. Their hot chocolate is really good! Friendliest service you will get in town. Might be a but if a wait in the summer. While you wait they have shot machines off the dining room. They also have a bar and I highly suggest a huckleberry margarita. We travel to Yellowstone NP every 2-3 years & we like to return to restaurants that we enjoy. One of them was Old Town Cafe. They had delicious apple cinnamon pancakes. I noticed that it was no longer on their menu but we went anyway. It turns out it is now called "Old Town" & has new owners. I was initially disappointed but that changed very quickly. I ordered eggs, bacon, & country potatoes with a half order of sweet cream huckleberry pancakes. The eggs & bacon were perfectly cooked. The potatoes were tasty but a little undercooked. The pancakes were so good they did not need any syrup! I just spread some butter on them. These were better than the apple cinnamon pancakes I was craving. Whilst they do not serve breakfast items during lunch, it was glad to see that different times of day will have different menu options. I got the Philly cheese steak with green beans as side. Loved the green beans but the sandwich was underwhelmed. It was a very generic steak sandwich and lacked depth. My wife got the fish and chips with cowboy beans as side. The fish was perfectly fried crispy on the outside and tender inside. It exceeded her expectation. My son got the chili cheeseburger and while it was messy to eat, he finished it all and had soup as his side. Overall, very good food and would highly recommend in this touristy town. read more

After a long day of traveling to Yellowstone and walking through all the geysers we arrived in West Yellowstone. We started looking online and saw pictures of dessert at Old Town Cafe. That's what hooked us. We were not disappointed. We thought it was going to be a small place until we stepped inside and it was very spacious. Our server Brock was very funny and super attentive. Our friends ordered the rib-eye and fish and chips. They said they loved their choices. They agreed that the cowboy beans were not appealing. But everything else was wonderful. My husband ordered a ground round Buffalo with grilled onions. I ordered the roast beef. It was a generous portion of roast beef with delicious brown gravy. We tried the Mexican soup but didn't take a photo of it. It was very tasty like taco soup with hominy and some type of meat tips. Dinner came out quickly. And we all enjoyed our meal and then ordered dessert. Our friends had apple and cherry pies with vanilla ice cream. I ordered cherry pie with chocolate ice cream. The chocolate ice cream tasted fruity so I didn't eat it. But the cherry pie had the flakiest crust it was delicious. You should try this place if you are in West Yellowstone. He ordered the steak fingers and they came out dry as a bone and looked awful. He tried them and they weren't good so he set them aside, wasn't going to say anything. The gravy also was the consistency of jello.The bartender/waiter WILL asked if there was something wrong with them and my husband laughingly said they were terrible and made a joke about taking it off the menu. And my husband even told him he didn't need to remove it from our bill. We had been polite and friendly the entire time before so assumed he would laugh along with us. However he suddenly got really aggressive and proceeded to call my husband a dick and get very very confrontational and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I, a small female, had to step in and say that's enough because WILL would not walk away, my husband was also clearly uncomfortable and caught off guard and tried to diffuse the situation. It's unfortunate that my experience here was so terrible. After never receiving a phone call from the manager, I think it's best to post about my experience for others to consider before spending your hard earned money here. Firstly, when we first walked in the staff just stared and immediately made it obvious they were annoyed. But, naively we decided to stay. When asking for modifications such as grilled onions, the waitress stated the cooks spoke Spanish and she didn't speak the language. She repeated this a few times. She said the cooks do "whatever they want" and "they can't communicate with the cooks". It's evident there are many issues within this establishment. The burden of their lack of competency to work together should not be put on the consumer. I strongly suggest trying establishments where customer service and basic respect are put first. read more

This is a gluten free review. Let's start off with the wait service was wonderful. Will tried his best to make sure everything was perfect. The cocktails were fantastic. My husband's food was good. Then there was my food. I explained throughly to Will what GF was and what I could and couldn't have on my plate...the crispy onions and bun. He sent the order in. I looked over my plate and it looked fine (no bun, because they didn't have GF ones). There were no crispy onions on my plate. I cut into my burger with cheese on it and took a bite of the end piece. As I started to chew, an immediate crunch occurred. I swallowed it when I shouldn't have. I then lifted up the cheese to find the crispy onions were loaded up under the cheese. I had to scrape all of the cheese off because the crispy onions were stuck to it. I wasn't a happy person. I continued to eat the burger, I scraped off the top of the patty and wiped it off. I really don't like to have food thrown out. I was missing sauce and asked for it. Will asked the cook for it and he couldn't understand what Will was asking for. I explained to Will what occurred and he was very sorry it had happened. I didn't make a big deal out of it because it wasn't Will's fault. I really wanted to educate him. Come to find out the cook can't speak or read English. Why had management hired someone who can't speak to understand the wait staff or read what is written for food allergies. We ate out for breakfast 4 times during our trip to Yellowstone, and 3 of those 4 times we ate here. The only time we didn't was when we headed to Grand Teton versus Yellowstone. That says a lot about the quality of this restaurant! I'm in LOVE with their Flap-Jack Drizzle maple syrup, even bought a bottle to bring home. But it's not just the syrup that takes center stage here; the rest of their food is fantastic also! We ate their pancakes (5/5), their omelettes (ham and cheese 5/5, sausage and cheese 3/5) and their biscuits and gravy (5/5) during our multiple trips there. The pancakes were the real star topped with their syrup, though the stand-alone sausage was absolutely fire (5/5). Good food, good people, good coffee, great drizzle. Was in town for few days and tried this place after having been to place across the street called Maddison Cross and Lounge. What a mistake! I should have stuck to Madison Cross and Lounge. All the food that we tried was mediocre with the ribeye steak being the worse. It's very simple low quality food. The steak was brought out rare when pink was requested. It had also felt but hard for being ribeye. Ribeye is one of my favorite cuts and this didn't do it. When steak came back from second round it was still raw and seemed more firm. The only way I can explain it was the bad quality of the steak. Across the street for is a bargain. Quality food and steaks for same price. Amazing lobster bisque, ribeye, fries and so much more. Went to this restaurant due to the fact that it was rated 4 stars. I was very disappointed with my ground beef patty. I had ordered it medium well done and when I received it, it was very pink inside. I have always ordered medium well and have never had that much pink inside my meat. The taste was just ok. The mash potatoes seem to have come out of a box and tasted dry and uneventful. not to mention the green beans that came out of a can. We called the manager over to discuss the issues that we had with our food and I felt he was very dismissive. Homemade is a better option than what we received tonight. read more

Food was AWFUL. No flavor. Everything just tasted old. My biscuit was hard as a rock and the gravy was watery and literally inedible. The bacon was flavorless and burnt to a crisp.
