We stopped here for breakfast this morning as we were traveling to Ashton, Idaho to continue our fishing trip. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. The eggs were fresh, the steak was cooked well. I was very pleased with the food, and if you are in West Yellowstone, Montana it is worth stopping by. The price was good, and the portions were hearty.

Seated quickly and greeted with a smile! Good strong coffee! Biscuits and gravy were served hot and large! The French toast was delicious!! Prices are good for this area!!

The service was spectacular! The young servers are really knowledge and sweetly attentive. The food is diner food and tastes great. The prices are reasonable and portions generous. The decor is country and laid back. It's a highly recommend for the awesome service and food!

Breakfast burrito with steak (not deep fried)

Old Town Cafe was the last restaurant I ate at while staying in West Yellowstone. I decided to stop in for breakfast before leaving to drive down to Grand Teton. The breakfast items we had were okay. The pork steak was a bit too salty and the breakfast burrito (I asked for it to NOT be deep fried) was meh. The "salsa" it came with tasted more like Pace picante sauce. The portion sizes were well worth the price. Ideally, 2 people could split the breakfast burrito. The highlight of my time there was the friendliness of the bartender.

Nothing sounds better than a nice hot chicken fried steak with fresh country style gravy, sadly that's not what we got! More like Chicken Fried Strip. It was so chewy and tough. We also ordered the cheeseburger which is a pre-made patty, c'mon now! For those prices, you expect it to be hand made. The waffle fries were good or maybe I was just hungry. The chili was ok, nothing to rave about. Our server named Will was at least willing to replace the dish, but after one or two bites we were over it.

Pleasant ambiance and nice spacious interior. Missed brunch by a little bit, so had to opt for the lunch menu The waitress recommended the wraps and any of the burgers. We got the Old Town Burger and the BBQ Chicken Wrap. The burger was extremely well cooked and very tender & juicy, but definitely underseasoned (some salt and pepper shakers were already at the table). The wrap was decent and packed with crunchy lettuce, chicken, bacon bits, and cheese. However, the chicken was quite soggy and wasn't exactly "crispy". I wish the cheese could've been melted or something too. The wrap tasted very much like the individual parts, was quite dry, and definitely needed something else to help it go down (perhaps more sauce, because I barely was able to taste the BBQ flavor). Both dishes came with a healthy serving of waffle fries which were delicious

Great place to stop by on your way to or back from Yellow Stone. Located in the central part and with other shops, gas, markets near by. Food was amazing and service is super quick! Highly recommend to anyone passing by.

You are welcome in advance . . . SERVICE // service was atrocious. I want to believe it had nothing to do with my ethnicity. I want to believe it had everything to do with he just didn't give a shit about a party of two. But I will tell you the two larger parties that were all Caucasian including their children received outstanding service. They received their utensils wrapped in white little packages, their food came out hot and on time and before hours and we were seated before them. And wait till I get to the food that's an interesting mix. AMBIANCE // To put it simply there is none. FOOD // my friend ordered biscuits and gravy with white gravy with no sausage, scrambled a side of sausage accompanied with home fries. What he received was something entirely different. He received sausage and biscuit with white gravy with sausage crumbles in it, bacon, two eggs over hard, hash browns and some kind of weird corn mixture on the side. When we received our coffee we did not receive any utensils with to mix the creamer into the coffee. We tried numerous times to gain someone's attention and outside of getting up and walking into the kitchen and obtaining it myself. We did not receive it until the food arrived. Both plates were cold and his gravy and biscuits had solidified on top, anyone who's ever been in the food service business knows this is from sitting out too long. When we spoke with the individual who brought our food out he was extremely quick to pass the blame and said he has no idea what's going on but he's not our server and he would tell someone. Our server took a solid 12 minutes to come back to us and then wanted to argue with tableside with us. He admitted that the food was incorrect this was an order that went to the wrong table. CONCLUSION // in conclusion, I would never suggest anybody go here for any meal. They appeared very rushed very frantic and they are all about turning their tables and the money. They allowed us to sit at a dirty table for over 15 minutes not to mention they have no one checking anyone in so you basically check yourself in & seat yourself. There are far better places to receive a hot meal, friendly service and fresh food then to torture yourself with going to this place.

Ambiance is perfect. Just how it is described. Old west town. Decor is great. Rustic. We ordered The Standard, and it IS pretty "standard", but, as a bonus, the hash browns come with onions and green peppers. Quite delicious. The food was grand, service very attentive and overall a GREAT place! We stopped by another place about three blocks away and there was a 45 minute wait. Here, no wait. I just wonder, was the breakfast free? Do you have a chance of a prize? Come here instead. No wait, everything was superb. AND the coffee was the best we've had in a while. NOT weak.

Came here for breakfast and had a decent experience. Nothing that popped the tastebuds to inspire a revisit. Staff were mostly friendly. Breakfast burrito was bland somehow but not bad. I would recommend looking for other breakfast places like the Running Bear

Needs some work. Food was okay. Air conditioning was on the fritz. Doors had to be left open so it was uncomfortable in mid-August.

Piecing together that this is a tourist trap town on the outskirts of YNP, I lowered my expectations to like 5/10. Believe me, this is worse than mid. We were famished driving out of Yellowstone after a long day of sightseeing, as most of this place's victims probably are. I grimly perused the menu, and ordered a burger and fries because surelllyyyyyy... they can make a 5/10 burger?! My standards were so low! The bread on the burgers was soggy and gross, the burger wasn't seared at all, and the fries were burnt. Our friend ordered steak: the steak was bright pink through and through and also not even seared... how do you mess up this badly? Do they have a grill back there?? I've cooked steak way better myself on a skillet for way cheaper. A bowl of onion rings with no dipping sauce. Salads with tomatoes sliced round- not diced. I had never seen that before in my life. Other friend got a pizza. She said it was okay, but looking at it I had my doubts. I'll admit I didn't try it because it looked like day old frozen pizza. Mind you if the total bill had been $75, then whatever we were hungry, it's a tourist trap-- No. The total for the food was $148. For 4 people. No drinks at all, just water. I'm so appalled and embarrassed because there were lots of international visitors here for Yellowstone. Probably more than usual if some stopped here during a US visit for the World Cup. They probably come here and believe this abomination is representative of American food. Shameful. I normally wouldn't bring up something like ambiance, but since this place has the audacity to charge nice restaurant prices for food so disgusting I wouldn't even feed it to a dog, the music sucks too. It was the most cliche 70s American bar playlist ever. I personally enjoy that kind of music, but here it feels like rubbing salt in a wound. Positives: Server was nice, poor guy. The French onion soup was actually nice and up to par, but French onion soup is not enough to redeem a place, especially when this place is your first stop in civilization and you're ready to chow down. Next night we skipped West Yellowstone and opted for the gas station by our Airbnb. The hours-old chicken sandwich behind glass was Michelin star compared to this.

We were served by Rachel, who was very friendly and very attentive and fun! My mom had ordered a drink, with 7-up, but it tasted just a tad off, and Rachel (without a second thought) fixed it for us right away. The food was excellent -- I had their bison & elk meatballs with the bolognese sauce made of bison & elk too. The pasta was nice and thick, and the whole meal was hearty. Just what you want when visiting the park. My folks loved their meals too, my father had their Elk ravioli that he nearly passed out from enjoyment from and my mother had their 8oz filet mignon which she couldn't finish and I which I did the next day -- and it was still amazing, even cold. We loved it so much we returned the following evening. I had the same and my dad had their broasted chicken, and my mom had their fried prawns that she also couldn't finish (she doesn't eat as much now) but again loved. Sadly that second day we didn't have Rachel. But I took the liberty of checking out their bar next door (which also serves the same menu) and Lo & Behold, Rachel was there. Even as locals poured in (no doubt for Rachel) she stayed attentive and left me having the best experience, at Bullwinkles. I highly recommend for any & all passing through or extending their stay!
