It was nice that our family's next generation found Old World Deli "on their own". LOL The "elders" come for their cannolis and sandwiches; the younger set come for a sit down to devour the "comfort food" consisting of pasta and cheesy bread. Recently, we learned about their Thursday specials: entrees come with a salad and drink. It came out to be about $20 per person. Not bad for a sit down with the family. It's definitely a better experience than Panera. At least at Old World, the servers bring out the generous portions with plates and utensils to the table, timely. The dining room is spacious and their restrooms are always well maintained. The only downside is the parking. The roast beef arrived and just hurt your eyes, looking for the beef! It was so light on roast beef it reminded me of the 1980s Arby's commercial where the lil old lady proclaims, "Where's the beef"? Used to frequent this place when it was part of Eastland mall. It was very small but everything was absolutely wonderful. They have since moved to Shoppers Lane. Now, the store is beautiful and everything looks good but the chicken meal we got tonight - $21 - was dry and the pieces of chicken were very small. To add insult to injury, they gave me two wings!! The rolls had a nice center but the crust was tough. I would say the best part of it was the potatoes. I also purchased some Valentine cookies which I now regret. They taste old. The place is located on a strip of other businesses, so parking is small and can be challenging since store front parking is limited. I came during lunch time and is was a little busy. The inside is very old fashioned looking in the vets way possible. They had a deli style counter for desserts and meat selections as well as a deli counter for dine in. The lady behind the counter was welcoming but looked irritated because I was so indecisive. I was need up ordering the meatball with pepperoncinis and red onion and a pumpkin bar and apple tart. The sandwich was superb! The bread was crispy and the ceases melted to perfection. Tucked away in a strip mall in Covina is this gem of a restaurant - Old World Delicatessen. As you walk in you're greeted by Italian goods, cases of deli meats, cheeses, cookies, desserts and all the delicious things. It was our first time and was a bit overwhelmed because we didn't know where to start as we looked around! Once we narrowed it down, we decided to do a little bit of everything & eat family style. We went with a pastrami sandwich, meatball sandwich, meatballs a la carte, lasagna, 4pc chicken & garlic bread - prices are fair, I believe we paid about $100 for dinner (before desserts). After we ordered, we found our seats. Dining area is a pretty decent size, there's probably about 10 booths, 1 big table that seats about 10 plus another 3-5 4 top tables. Food came out about 10-15 minutes later and piping hot too! Everything from top to bottom was perfection, their lasagna & chicken.. *chefs kiss* and definitely a must have whenever you come by. After dinner, we went back to the dessert counter to grab a few things - vanilla sprinkle cookies, m&m cookies, brownie, Boston pie, red velvet cupcake & a tiramisu. We were all wayyyy too stuffed to eat it after dinner, so we'll be enjoying that later today. Safe to say this is one of our favorite finds of 2025 so far, will definitely be back soon!!! read more

We shared the Brooklyn Bridge sandwich and some potato salad. The sandwich was great but the potato salad tasted like store bought salad. Some of my favorite deli's have amazing potato salad. After lunch we had some desserts and again, I think they were not made there. For example, the cannoli's were frozen. Haven't been here in awhile... so we decided to give this place a try. Ordered a roast beef sandwich which tasted just ok and was rather small. Nothing really stood out about this sandwich. My potato salad was rather small yet tasted good... but I immediately stopped eating the potato salad when my friend opened his potato salad and noticed a hair inside of the top of the container. I stopped eating my potato salad and my friend took both containers back to the lady behind the counter and informed her about the situation. She told him to grab potato chips. No apologies whatsoever. But my friend did notice that she immediately dumped the potato salad in the trash. Also when we arrived we noticed that most of the bench seats tables were dirty with crumbs of food on top. We let a person know who cleaned it. However there was still food items and papers on the floor and under several of the tables including the table we sat at. One of my favorite delis in the area! It's tucked away off the main road, but there is plenty of street parking and free parking across from it. Theres a clearly marked entrance and exit--the entrance leads you to the food and ordering area and the exit leads you to the seating area. They have an assortment of food, but my favorite thing to get is their lasagna dinner combo (which I got to-go) and some of the chicken on the side. The lasagna is delicious; it comes with a side salad of chopped vegetables doused in a vinaigrette and a toasted garlic bread which is just as good! My friend says their star is the chicken, and I feel pretty inclined to agree. It comes out perfectly crispy on the outside, seasoned well, and juicy on the inside.
