Unfortunately, while at a celebration dinner at Olive and June I was involved in a minor accident (which was no big deal). This small incident has turned into a much bigger problem because of the way, not only the staff, but also the higher management has handled the event.
While at dinner, one of the waiters knocked over our candle and spilled candle wax on my blouse. Again, this was not a big deal. Accidents happen.
However, when I informed the waitress that there was also candle wax all over the table and on my phone/phone, she dismissed my concerns by saying "it's no big deal, you can just scratch it off your phone."
It was handled relatively okay at the restaurant - the manager apologized that the waiter had spilled wax (to which I graciously accepted and reiterated that accidents happen) and offered to compensate me for my dry cleaning bill if I brought it back to the restaurant; I assume this is pretty standard procedure.
I left a comment card noting what had happened so that if something like this occurred in the future they could perhaps handle it better (i.e. waitress showing more concern and overall the staff ensuring we had a pleasant experience).
I would never be writing this review, had I not received the following email from the Director of Operations.
As a final note, my party was there on a Monday when all patrons get a discounted rate for small plates and champagne. My party ordered several small plates (in addition to entrees, desert, and coffee), which were given the same discount as all other patrons but no other discounts were received or offered, unlike the insinuation below.

Hi Ms. Cline,
Paul informed me of your incident last night at Olive & June and I was hoping for some clarification on your comment card. Paul most certainly offered to pay for the dry cleaning and handle any expenses associated with replacing the clothing if necessary. Your comment card says the opposite, and that you were "insulted" and that you won't return as a result. I'm trying to get a grasp on how Paul's handling of the situation was insulting so I can address this with all my staff if necessary.
I've been in this business 15 year and I can't say that spilling of wine or something as benign as candlewax correlates to extensive compensation beyond what was offered, especially when your entire bill was half off to begin with. This incident was the fault of our backwaiter at the very the end of the meal, though the server was punished for it, reflected by several of the tips. Was the service subpar throughout the night? In that case I'll say no more, and your feelings and comments are justified indeed. Candle wax easily comes out with hot water, and Paul told me everyone in your group was extremely relaxed and overly nice about the whole thing and insisted he not do more. Perhaps he misread the situation? Your bill already had a $60 discount for mezzo Monday, so I'm asking what more "compensation" you would have liked for candle wax on your clothing. Thank you for any information that could shed light on this for me.
