Blue Crab Hand Roll

OMAKAI hand roll bar was an amazing experience with my cousins. We sat at the bar and service was exceptional. Staff were friendly, attentive and engaged with us. The rolls are fresh and prepared right there in front of you, with rolls plated and served as they they're made. I loved sitting near the big windows where we could get good natural light as the afternoon turned to evening. The glow from the bar nice too. It was just a great time over all and I'd recommend it to anyone.

OMG! this was nearby my hotel and after a long travel day, i walked over and was able to be seated right away. The service was great and the servers always checked in on their guests if they needed anything. I love the concept of this place because it's bar seating only and i also love the minimal decor! Now onto the food, I definitely had high expectations of the freshness of the fish & it did not disappoint. I was in awe at every bite. I ordered the OMA deluxe & the highlight were the salmon, blue crab, and scallop. I even added another order of the blue crab. I definitely recommend this place if you're a fish lover!

Nice spot in downtown Miami! Very unassuming from the outside but the interior has a beautiful minimalist Japanese wooden design. It's a huge narrow bar seating which creates an authentic vibe. Only no real backrest on the seating if that's an issue for you. Seating was easy without a reservation and it filled up as I was there. Service was average. I felt the prices per what you get reasonable and you have good options. The food itself was tasty, albeit a little on the saucier/ maybe not as healthy for you side. I enjoyed mostly everything I got. All in all I would recommend and return.

makai Hand Roll Bar is hands down one of the best sushi spots I've been to, and I've been to a lot. The sushi is fresh, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious--each bite melts in your mouth. Our waiter, Isaac, was incredibly kind and made the experience even better with his attentive service. The hand rolls were rolled just right, with crisp nori and generous portions of fish. It's the kind of spot you instantly want to come back to, and it easily deserves 5-star potential. That said, I have to knock off a star because the green onions completely overpower the flavors--a little goes a long way, and here, they were way too much. Also, their hand wipes are just not it. A small detail, but the cheap wipes bring down the whole premium experience. If they upgraded to those tiny hand wipes that expand in water, it would seriously elevate the overall vibe. Small tweaks, but they would take an already great spot to perfection. Still, highly recommend for sushi lovers!

I was so excited to try this new hand roll bar, since I love the original Omakai spots. This location is right around the corner from all the popular restaurants and bars in Brickell so it's very easy to get to. The atmosphere is very clean and modern and it is counter top seating throughout the entire place. You are able to see the staff and chefs making the rolls from every seat and it's very accessible if you want to order another roll or get someone's attention. I went relatively early for happy hour, which begins at 3pm and it wasn't too crowded. It started to get more packed towards 6pm. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The menus were easy to read and it was very quick to ordering your food and then you were served almost immediately. There is flexibility on when you can order and how much, so depending on how you feel, you can go at whatever pace you're comfortable with. I enjoyed all the rolls, of course, but my favorite were the bay scallop, negi toro, hamachi, and salmon. I did try a couple of the specialty rolls which were tasty, but I think staying simple may be the move here. Some of the specialty rolls are doing too much and the prices are a little inflated. Overall, I am very impressed with this hand roll bar and cannot wait to come back very soon!

I love hand rolls. And if you do this is the place for you. I got about 6 hand rolls although for an expensive price. Definitely a place where lots of money will be spent. Once you sit down you practically get your food right away. Which is made right in front of you! The service is great because I asked for extra rice in my roll and I got extra rice in my roll!! The place is great with bar seating too! Menu is limited but yummy! Very nice place.

Stayed at the JW nearby and had a craving for some Sushi. Thought the concept of a hand roll bar was pretty neat and decided to stop by. No reservations, walk in only. Can get busy fast. Got seated immediately upon arrival. Menu is simple and to the point. In my opinion, the best bang for your buck is set menu. Everything is made right in front of you and very fresh. If you eat it quickly you find the nori is still crispy! Washed it all down with a Kirin Light with complimented the traditional sushi bar ambiance. The kicker was that it was also pretty affordable! I'd recommend bringing a friend and trying Omakai out for yourself!

Must be one of the best sushi places I've been in a while, and we love sushi. We ordered the Omakai Experience and was thoroughly surprised and wowed by the creativity, flavors, textures and well balanced proportions: rice, sauce, fish. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Pedro is great!!!!! Love the omakai in brickell. They have great service on time and great quality.

If you're a sushi lover but don't want the whole song-and-dance of a three-hour omakase, Omakai Hand Roll hits the sweet spot. Fast, high-quality, and surprisingly affordable (for Miami), this place delivers an authentic hand-roll bar experience with zero fluff and a lot of flavor. Walk in, grab a seat at the sleek sushi bar, and choose from a handful of set menus or order à la carte. The chefs prepare each hand roll one-by-one and hand it to you fresh -- the seaweed still crisp, the rice warm, and the fish top-grade. I had the "OMA" sets are the best value ( 3-7 rolls at one price), ranging from about $20-$50 depending on how many rolls and nigiri you want. Everything comes out at your pace, and they'll keep it moving unless you ask for a pause.

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time, and it did not disappoint! It was easy to find parking, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The tasting menu was incredibly fresh and flavorful -- especially the small hand rolls, which were absolutely amazing. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in -- friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor. If you've never been here, I strongly recommend starting with the hand rolls and letting the tasting menu guide your experience. A great spot with great vibes -- can't wait to come back!

It is small, beautiful with open space, and intimate that you will enjoy very much. The music is piped in and is relaxing. They provide excellent service and show pride of ownership. We didn't have reservations but we were welcomed and even received the best seats in the house. Our server was Francisco, who has worked there a long time, was excellent! We chose the Oma Deluxe because we wanted the entire experience. Francisco explained each sushi and what part of the fish we were eating. Each dish was brought out separately. There were about 9 pieces of different cuts of fish. They were delicious! My daughter had Sake and I had Non-alcoholic beer. Both went fine with our meal. Afterwards, we were served dessert. What a great experience! Give it a try when you can. Later, we went upstairs to ASTRA restaurant and bar to further enjoy our evening with beautiful views of Miami. Parking is mostly limited street parking though, so plan ahead. This spot is more about curated tastings, sashimi, nigiri, and handrolls rather than specialty rolls, so don't expect a huge roll menu. We ordered the sashimi assortment, white fish tasting, seared salmon, bluefin tuna tasting, unagi foie gras, and a few handrolls including blue crab and negi toro. Everything tasted super fresh and flavorful, especially the bluefin and unagi foie gras. Portions are on the lighter side though, so we left satisfied but not totally full. Cedrick was awesome and really made the experience better. He knew the menu inside and out and explained everything perfectly. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Wynwood and want quality sushi without the overly trendy vibe.

From the moment we arrived, the ambiance and location created the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. The food truly exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend the Miso Black Cod -- it was phenomenal and had the same rich, buttery texture as Chilean sea bass. Absolutely delicious. The Wagyu Burger was also outstanding -- freshly ground, high quality, and cooked perfectly. We also tried one of their sushi rolls topped with miso and filled with fresh tuna and salmon, and it was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Our server (I didn't catch her name -- an Asian woman, possibly in her 40s) was wonderful and made our experience even more enjoyable with her attentive and warm service. We truly loved this place and are already looking forward to coming back, especially to explore more of their sushi menu. Highly recommend!

In any other city this would be decent sushi at half the price.

They proudly boast that their service is top notch, while it's 7 men standing in the corner and 1 sweet woman dressed like a geisha being obnoxiously monitored. The vibe felt very intense there. The hovering over people in this tiny, little whole in the wall restaurant felt overwhelming. I started to lose my patience being that there is so much staff standing around and found myself several times having to pour my own wine bottle. 2nd, I told them it was my son's birthday and nobody went out of their way to make his birthday special! And just a fair warning, you will spend over a $1000 dollars and walk out of there still very hungry! What a disappointment! Furthermore, they price gouge people trying to pass off as if his restaurant is Michelin worthy! An absolute joke! And here's the "best part" when I tried to voice my concerns, I was told to leave! I was very polite and instead of hearing me out, trying to make my experience better, I get told to leave! How disgusting! Please don't come here. The ambiance is terrible, overwhelming, and you will get sick because they have no consideration for cross contamination!

We got there a bit before our reservation time, and they let us sit in the smaller dining area as we waited for our spots to open up. We all did the $200 tasting and we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the bites. It's 8 courses that range from a nigiri sampler, small bites, and dessert. Most memorable were the clam broth, beef loin and carrots, and the fatty tuna nigiri with caviar on top. The fatty tuna nigiri with caviar was the main reason I wanted the tasting! There is an à la carte menu too, but it was a lot easier just letting the chefs portion out our meal. Would definitely check them out and enjoy a superb evening out!

You can access the mall area from the left of the hotel lobby. What impressed me most was the presentation of all the dishes. They really took great care to make everything look beautiful. All the plates and dishes were just so stunning. The other thing that really stood out was the service. They were so friendly and helpful. I truly appreciate when servers know their menu well and are able to make suggestions. I can't remember my server's name, but she was just top-notch. We ordered: - Miso soup, (served in a charming, Japanese chawan mushi cup) the flavor was really good and strong. (I hate it when it's weak) - Spicy dumplings. They tasted homemade. Yummy - Shrimp shu mai, good, tasted as it should - Tanaka roll, with extra crispies on top, (I was not a fan because I did not expect it to be deep-fried. if it had not been deep-fried, I would've liked it.) - Peking duck served in an impressive three tier tower that looks like a round Chinese Temple. - Pork Belly Bao bun, this was also a miss for me because I expected it to taste like barbecue, but it was just really salty like they used a lot of brown salty sauce. All in all, I really enjoyed this restaurant, even though I didn't like those two items. Bec But, because of the excellent service, the atmosphere and the beautiful way they served the food, I decided to leave them a five star review. Those dishes weren't bad they just weren't what I expected. We don't live in the area so if we were to stay in this hotel again, we would definitely dine here again. I'd like to try some of the other items on the menu. You should give this Restaurant a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

We started with a drink each, I got the purple moon cocktail which is sort of like a fruity and floral lychee-lavender-elderflower martini. For dinner we started with an order of chili oil dumplings and the scallion pancakes which were both alright, but we enjoyed the entrees more. The twice cooked pork was flavorful and not too greasy, the dry fried string beans were quite savory with a nice bite, and the Szechuan spicy chicken (some of you might recognize this dish's more common name of dry chili chicken or dry pepper chicken) was crispy savory and infused good but not overwhelming amount of heat. The portions for all of the entrees were pretty satisfying for the three of us and we left full.
