I used to come here when I was teen-ager I grew up down the street, so when I was in the area I thought I would give them a try for a trip down memory lane. It has been about 35 years since I last entered and all I can say is that it needs a face lift, it looks the same, except for the outdoor seating, everything is old and dated. Have been 'doing the Omega' for about six years now. Now that i've found Yelp, i can regurgitate all those suppressed feelings here for the masses. Actually, i like this place. Charbroiled-like burgers, thinly shredded lettuce, 'secret' sauce/spread - yeah - THAT's what a (dare i say the rest, or will i get sued by that OTHER burger joint?). Oh well. The food is CONSISTENTLY good. In fact, with their larger beef patty, i'd say it BEATS that "urge" place fairly well. Tho, i am kinda surprised they don't have any Charlton Heston memorabilia on the walls, or dress up in those monk-like bathrobes with the huge hoods behind the counter. ONE thing they've changed that i DO like, is that they (along with In-N-Out), have FINALLY left the world of the Luddites and have caught-up with society and the world of electronic-debit payments. I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I didn't like me experience at all... The lady working at the counter seemed more interested in speaking with her friend, who was standing to the left of everyone ordering, rather than paying attention to anyone's order (and everything was in Spanish so I couldn't even gain satisfaction through my eavesdropping tendencies). I had to repeat my order 3 times before she got it right- no thanks or acknowledgment after I paid, just handed a ticket and went to the side while she continued her conversation. I ordered two breakfast burritos and had to wait 20 minutes- a lot of the food is sitting next to the stove pre-made! They just have to cook up some eggs and warm the tortillas. And forgive me for sounding callous for the tough working conditions of a kitchen, BUT the cooks were all sweaty and dripping sweat in to the food... and I'm sure that happens everywhere, but the kitchen is in plain sight- at least most other places don't show the gross kitchen factor. The burritos were decent- tasted OK, but nothing special. Just your paint by numbers basic breakfast burrito with an extra helping of sweat. The lady was nice enough to ask if wanted another one but seriously? If you are questioning whether you should give it to a customer, that should tell you to redo it on your own! To give them the benefit of the doubt perhaps the main cook was out to lunch. Unfortunately for me I think he was eating in the next booth because he walked back behind the counter after we gave up on our food. Gyros sucked - the meat was so hard to chew it felt like jerky already. Not a good place for Greek food. Personally I do not like causing trouble in the restaurant. 4 stars for the BLT. They make a good one. Bacon just right, toast pretty great, proportions all in harmony. Omega burgie is solid, consistent, not particularly sparkly. Variety of burgers, sandwiches, fried food, and Mexican food on the menu. Often bustling. Bring cash. Otherwise suffer the insult and degradation of those crappy big surcharge ATMs that print a receipt and you get whatever is left over from your bill in change. Mirror recommendation to my Rod's Liquor post: Go over to Rod's, buy some booze (preferably one of their tasty craft brew selections, but whatever), get yourself a BLT or a burgie and some fries, and then go park under the trees a little further north on Lemon in the same parking lot, where it is an auspicious site for public imbibing. I am such a glutton for punishment. Every day, this place calls out to me as go to the Orange train station and every day my better judgment tells me not to go. "It's a burger joint and you don't eat red meat, your system's not going to take it!!" I've only gone against that better judgment a handful of times but each time, I'm reminded why that judgment is, in fact, better. In fact, I went again today and, as of this moment, I am sitting on the throne; its food tearing up my insides. I have tried, in order from best to worst, their chicken tacos, pastrami burrito, pastrami sandwich and pork loin sandwich. The tacos and the burrito were generous, but too messy. You've got alot of juice (or is that oil?) dripping from them - make sure you grab a handful of napkins. The pastrami could use more seasoning. The only thing going for it is the volume you get. The sandwiches are too dry. Even with something juicy between the buns, you'll still gag. You'll definitely need something to wash the pork sandwich down. Maybe I'm just not getting the right thing. They have to be doing something right since they have so many patrons. This is a burger joint owned by the Greeks (the use of a Greek letter in the name sort of gives that away) so maybe their specialties are gyros and burgers. They also sell breakfast but I have no idea how good those offerings are. If you decide to go there, you might have better luck with those choices. I've been eating here since I was a little girl and it has improve for the better. I only have two foods that i absolutely love one would be chile cheese fries. There so good. But I always ask for more cheese than chili since I think they put too much chili. The second would be the chicken salad. They put a lot of grilled chicken. Good food for a decent price. I got two 1/4 pound cheeseburgers and a large order of fries for $9 and it was the perfect portion size for my girlfriend and me. The burgers are bigger, better tasting, and over all just seem more like actual food than McDonalds, yet the prices are just about the same. They had a delicious mayo based sauce, which may have been thousand island, similar to what is on a BigMac, but again, I could tell that the food was cooked with real ingredients and therefore felt a whole lot better about eating it. Also, even though Omega is technically a chain, it just feels like a classic local burger joint, which is exactly what I was looking for. Next time I'm craving a burger I will surely be bypassing all big name fast food chains and paying my local Omega another visit. It's the typical short order burger joint we have all come to know a love in Southern California. I used to frequent this one a lot when I worked in the area. Now I might get there once a month if lucky. My favorite is just the run of the mill cheeseburger and zucchini. Tastes great going down but at the same time you know you are slowly killing yourself with the wonderful greasy goodness of it all. I was sleepy from having awoken at the crak o dawn to watch the England vs Germany World Cup game. That was my first mistake. Pretty simple place. You park your car, you order a combo, you eat, then go about your business. It's your typical so-cal Mexican food/burgers joint. The burger was not bad, but a bit greasy. The fries were okay. The place doesn't really have an atmosphere or decor. Just an old building housing people to make food. It exists but to serve drunk people who probably have the munchies (it's next to a bunch of bars) or those who don't aspire to try new things. My bf grew up in Orange and would ALWAYS talk about this place. In 5 years we never got around to trying it mostly because we wouldn't remember it when we were craving burgers or when we would remember it we didnt want burgers but finallllllllllllllllllly i got to try it! When I was a kid I used to LOVE the burgers from either Chris' Burgers or Douglas' burgers in Maywood. These were the traditional mom and pop burger joints with amazing tasting pattys, shredded lettuce, tomatoes and all the other wonderful things that just dont taste the same as the burgers from chain places. I hadnt had one of those burgers in YEARS until I ate the burger from Omegas. It took me back. The patty was delish and so was everything on it. it was cooked perfectly and even the fries were so amazingly perfect. Ah! i loved this place. The business was pretty steady for a late thursday night and since we were sitting near the counter I could hear the orders and apparently people really like the burgers and pastrami. This place has 3 stars and I think that's right on the spot. This is your completely typical hamburger stand. You walk in to those ancient looking faux-wood booths with the slightly-ripped seats, the basic framed photographs of Paris or some random countryside slightly unevenly handing on the wall, the 1980s Coca-Cola menu board with 1000 different food options, and the napkin dispensers, salt and pepper shakers that have a years worth of grime on them. It's great! I of course ordered the hamburger special. Nothing too crazy. Prices are reasonable, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The food tasted exactly like what you are thinking - thinly sliced lettuce and thousand island in the burger, slightly larger than average French fries, and a Coke in a foam cup make for a great cheap meal. This place is good for a quick bite that won't hurt the wallet. Of course, it's your definition of a hole in the wall restaurant (I counted 4 holes), so don't have high expectations, just come in when you're hungry! read more

The food is HUGE. Quite a variety ranging from Mexican to American cuisine on one large menu. There's always people at Omega. There's a drive-through or you can go inside and order. I don't know if I can eat it all and I feel it's such a waste. Even the salads are quite big. They don't have a take-out menu unfortunately. I believe it's cash only but I'm not 100% certain.
