one of my go to lunch spots! I don't see the won ton soup on the new menu which is a bummer. That was my favorite! My other go to dishes is the banh mi and beef rib eye.

Was seeing a matinee show at the Center of Performing Arts on a Saturday. So glad the San Pedro Square was open. My daughter and I decided to enjoy Vietnamese fare. It's a walk-up with bar seating. Giant menu on the wall or a paper menu at the counter. Friendly service. Food came out in 10 min or less. We shared a grilled pork banh mi. Delicious. Although I said "no jalapeños," it still came with jalapeños. Good thing they were big slices and I was able to take them off easily. We also shared tofu fresh rolls (not on the menu) which were cut into 8 easy-to-eat pieces. The peanut sauce was really good. And we thoroughly enjoyed the fried wonton strips on the side. They only sell bottled water. Would definitely come back!

Yum!! The bbq pork bahn mi is something I will definitely be coming back for. It was a bit on the spicier side with the jalapeño, so if you can't do spice order it without. Great flavor, huge sandwich, lots of meat and veggies...this was the perfect comfort meal. Their egg rolls were also pretty good, but the bahn mi was outstanding.

The last Banh Mi's I enjoyed were back when I lived in Sacramento. So finding this gem in San Pedro Square has been an amazing find for me. I had the BBQ Pork Banh Mi and Spring Rolls. Both were so neatly presented (very important to me), the flavors were on-point and delicious. The service was about 10 minutes and I grabbed a drink and a table in the meantime. San Pedro Square is always a hit with our friends group- there's something for everyone. But I think I have found my routine spot in the meantime with On a Roll!

On a roll, for when you want fast food on the go. Came to San Pedro Square market and decided to try their coconut shrimp, however, they were all sold out. So then our second choice was the potstickers. They were just OK and they came with the sweet spicy sauce too.

I wanted to go somewhere to have an early dinner with my aunt and I wasn't too sure where to go. Since there's so many different places to eat at in San Pedro marketplace, I figured we could go there and pick some thing. We ended up going to this cute Vietnamese spot right at the Side entrance. It was perfect because my aunt ordered the eggrolls, and I got some spring rolls and with my stupid food allergies, there's no MSG in their spring rolls! Yes, I'm allergic to monosodium glutamate and I'm Hapa! Ughhhh fun stuff! Anyways, the gentleman at the front counter was very busy, but took our order, and we also got a strawberry tea, and I got a lychee tea. I loved all the different Boba and lychee jelly inside my tea, and the spring rolls tasted very fresh! The only funny thing was is, the gentleman didn't give us any utensils. I had to go back after we sat down and pick up utensils . lol Everything else was fine within the service and we were able to sit down at this cute Italian spot and watch the two people there clean out their giant pasta machine. Apparently it was making the pasta stick instead of separate. I've never seen a giant pasta machine like that, so it was very interesting for my aunt and me to watch them assemble and disassemble the machine. Since I have a gluten allergy, I can't really eat there but my aunt said she definitely wants to try it! Lol we will definitely be back to this Vietnamese spot, On A Roll for a light dinner or snack/appetizer.

Salmon salad with a small portion of salmon mixed in. The salmon fillet looks untouched!

I ordered the salmon salad. The chef was genuine, you could just feel it. Dedication to his business. For $18, the portion is huge. Better yet, it's fresh. I was initially surprised he asked me to come back in 10 minutes. There's no way you can cook salmon that quickly unless its precooked. I returned to find him at the stove, so I waved at him and told him I'd return. When I did, I found a plastic bag with two containers, one for the hot salmon, another full of a fresh variety of greens, long shredded carrots, tomatoes, and extra sauce. The fish is a thick fillet where one end had to be tucked into the container. The sauce is a delicious sweet and sour onion combination. Combined with the salad, however, HEAVENLY. I broke a small portion of the fish into the salad and it looked like I barely touched the fish. Highly recommended if you plan on visiting San Pedro Square.

This was my first time in San Pedro Market and the first store I saw when I walked in was On A Roll. But, I did walk through all the eateries to see the endless option. I still came back to On A Roll since I was craving a banh mi. I really appreciated the Asian fusion cuisine and some of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. My friend and I split a grilled pork banh mi and spring rolls. The banh mi was filled with lots of delicious pork and pickled veggies. It definitely hit the spot and fulfilled by banh mi craving. The spring rolls came with fried wonton chips and yummy peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was my favorite and a really good addition to the spring rolls. The service was pretty quick and around a lot of the other eateries. Will definitely be back whenever I'm craving some good Vietnamese food.

Both items were so generous and actually fairly large! It also came with a side of their orange sauce for the rolls and fish sauce, veggies/herbs, and chilies on the side for guests who love spicy. Definitely larger portions and super affordable. We picked up the items 30 mins before our party started, and they were still fresh and crispy throughout the whole night! I was expecting the banh khot to get soggy/be soggy but it held up very nicely. I love the way they packaged everything and would 100% recommend for those who need easy finger food for their parties. Also ordering from them was very easy. I did it online a week in advance and they texted me at exactly 530p to let me know it was ready for pickup. The tables are fairly close together since it is a small restaurant. Banh cuon special was chef's kiss I loved that it had a variety of foods and textures. There are other places I can go as backups, but when I want the complete bánh cuốn meal, this is the place to go. Food (5 stars) + The Đặc Biệt is still the #1 order here. It's a huge plate and you get a little bit of everything: the plain rice rolls with shrimp sprinkled on top, bánh cuốn stuffed with meat, pork roll, egg roll, and their crispy fried shrimp cake. Everything complements each other perfectly. + The rice rolls are soft and fresh, and I especially like the ones stuffed with meat. Pour their sweet and savory fish sauce all over it and add some of the red chili peppers if you want some heat. Excellent! + Their fried items are also what separates this place from some of the others. The egg roll is crispy and the fried shrimp cake actually has a nice big shrimp on there. Even the slightly steamed bean sprouts and herbs work perfectly with everything else on the plate. + This time I ordered the smaller plate with just the meat-filled bánh cuốn instead of the Đặc Biệt. It's around $15 and is actually the perfect amount for me where I'm full but not overly stuffed. However, for only a couple bucks more, I'd still recommend the Đặc Biệt. You just get so much more food! Service/Ambiance (3.5-4 stars) + Service is pretty standard for a Vietnamese restaurant. They're not constantly coming around to refill your water, but if you raise your hand or flag someone down, they'll come over and help you. Nobody is looking the other way pretending they didn't see you! + The restaurant itself is pretty small inside, but they have a much larger outdoor seating area. We came during lunch and didn't have to wait long. + I brought my dog Marley so we sat outside. It was a warm day but there was enough airflow that it was actually pretty comfortable. - One strange thing I've noticed during my last two visits: the water has a slight soapy taste. Maybe that's proof they do an excellent job washing their cups, but they could probably use an extra rinse! This time I just brought my own water. 4 years after my original 5-star review, nothing has really changed for me. I've had plenty of bánh cuốn around the Bay Area and this is still the place I compare everyone else to. The service and ambiance might only be around 3.5-4 stars, but I'm not coming here for fancy service. I'm coming for bánh cuốn, and the food is still 5 stars!

We've probably eaten here 50+ times with family and friends, and one thing I can say is that they are 100% consistent. We've never had a bad meal here. There's a great variety of Vietnamese dishes, so everyone can usually find something they like. The chả cá (fish) is one of their popular dishes and a favorite. They also have good chicken phở, broken rice, vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, roll-your-own options, and plenty of soups beyond phở. You can order individual dishes or share family-style, which makes it especially easy when coming with a group. It's very casual, family-friendly, quick, and straightforward--nothing fancy and probably not where I'd choose for a date night. But for a dependable meal with family or friends, it's a great spot. Kids like it, parents like it, and my mom likes it--which says a lot coming from an older Vietnamese person who knows her Vietnamese food! The staff is always efficient and nice, and after all these years, the food remains consistently good. The biggest downside is parking. The entire shopping center has become so busy with restaurants that finding a spot can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Also, keep in mind they do not take credit cards.
