Glad this location is still open as the valley fair mall location closed. Too bad because it was my go-to healthy place to eat at the mall. I usually GrubHub it now since there isn't much parking downtown. You can get half vermicelli noodles and half salad bowl. The lemongrass chicken is really good and I like the mint and daikon added. Very healthy salad with chicken. Overall a great place to eat at when you want something quick and healthy.

Located in SoFa Market which is right by the San Jose Convention Center, this area makes a great spot for big events held in the convention center. If vietnamese food is calling your name, Vietnoms is a great place. I ordered the rice bowl with chicken. Portions are a good size and come with a good balance of protein, grains and veggies. Tap to pay is accepted. There's a small line but moves quite quickly. Service is great. Overall Vietnoms is a good place for a quick bite.

    Bun bowl Bun Bowl w/chicken.

This was my first time here and I loved it! My wife and I both had bun (rice noodles) bowls - one chicken and one rice. We also both chose pork&shrimp egg rolls as sides. Really happy with the choices. The flavors are just right for us. Not too spicey - you can ask for it to be dialed up if you like. Ordering is done off of a very well executed touch screen kiosk. I really like the house sauce. Just enough kick. The other ingredients are tasty and fresh. No clumpy stale noodles here! The Eggroll was exceptional to me. Crisp and tasty and flaky. Do not let these go soggy in takeout - eat them immediately on receipt. So, no frills, but great food at a reasonable price. This is a walk up food counter in SoFA Market in 1st in SJ. It's practically next to the California Theatre and a bunch of other stuff in downtown. Lots of other food and drink in the court. So, ambience is noisy and street-like even though it's indoors. But I sorta suspected that coming in. In any case, long winded way to say I'm not grading them on ambience.

Vietnoms is located in the SoFA Market. This place is similar to VN Grill or basically, it's a BYOB (Build Your Own Bowl) or Chipotle model but with Vietnamese cuisine. Choose your base (rice, Vermicelli noodles, salad, or a mix), protein, sauce, and toppings.

Vietnoms is always a solid choice if you're craving viet food. Can't go wrong with the rice or vermicelli bowl. It's nice the vermicelli bowl comes with an egg roll, which you can add to the rice bowl. I always add on a fried egg too. My favorite is the lemongrass pork, but I heard the chicken is also good. You order either on the kiosk or you can order directly with the workers. If you have larger group I recommend ordering directly. The restaurant is located in the SOFA market with a few other restaurants in the same building. I work in downtown and this is one of the few good restaurants walking distance. It's a great place to eat with coworkers since there's a lot of seating inside and outside the market.

I was visiting the area and wanted Asian food! I quickly found vietnoms with high reviews and recommended this spot to the others in my party. Super fun they are located in a food hall! Everything smelled amazing. I opted for the vermicelli bowl with lemongrass chicken on top. They add an egg roll and it is sooo good. My meal was really tasty. They have an option of hot sauces to add on top, which really compliments the flavor. The bowl is HUGE! I couldn't finish my meal. So tasty though. The staff working were really friendly and our food came out quickly!

Located next to California Theatre, Vietnoms is located in the SoFA Market where there are other eateries. Ordering is via kiosk. With the main menu items: Rice Bowl, Salad Bowl, Bun (rice noodle) Bowl, and Banh Mi (sandwich), ordering is straight forward. For me and my dining companion, we ordered a Lemongrass Pork Bun Bowl and a Lemongrass Chicken Bun Bowl. Both were full of flavor. Included in the bowl are veggies and egg roll--a complete meal. Next to the menu there is a video for "first timers". One of the pro tips is to add an egg for $1.50. As a person who enjoys Vietnamese food, I recommend this place. Because the eatery is located in an all cement building, there's lots of noise, especially if you are sitting next to a person who talks loudly. Seating is communal so it's hard to avoid.

Food was surprisingly yummy! Ordered a salad with shrimp. I loved how fresh it tasted! The shrimp was freshly grilled with peanut. It was the combination of everything with the subtle vinaigrette sauce, that gave the life of this dish. These people know how to make food right. Located in a food court next to California Theater. Thanks guys for making our date night memorable.

Really solid Vietnamese spot here at SoFa Market in DTSJ. They are a semi build-your-own casual spot with some great options if you're on the go. Order and payment is handled completely using their kiosk. You are able to select the base of your meal: banh mi, rice bowl, or vermicelli bowl (the most popular item on the menu). I ordered a Tofu Vermicelli Bowl ($16) with soy sauce as their only vegan friendly dressing. Everything was made fresh including construction of the veggies, boiling of the rice noodles, and the tender crispy pieces of tofu. The bowl also included a vegan egg roll and together, it was hearty and filling, hitting all the spots.

I absolutely love this place. The menu is so simple but with such great selections of meat, choices or vegetarian plus all of the options you have to add onto your dish and to top it off any type of sauce that you add to it just enhances the flavor by 10 times, it's a great place to stop in the mall and the service is always really friendly and helpful if you have questions about the menu. And I think the ambience just really makes you feel completely welcomed. It's relaxing and beautiful for a nice bite to eat. I love stopping here whenever we go to the mall. I highly recommend any of the bowl choices. The lemon grass option is super good.

I was expecting it to be super salty, heavy, and drenched in sauce, but it was actually really balanced and refreshing. The pork was flavorful without being overpowering, and I could distinctly taste the water chestnuts and veggies mixed in, which gave it a nice texture and freshness. It felt comforting without making me feel weighed down. The cold cut combo bahn mi here is seriously bomb. I also really liked the bread ratio--the baguette was the perfect size and didn't overpower the fillings. Some places think bigger bread is better, but it ends up taking away from the inside and makes the sandwich hard to bite into. Here, everything felt balanced, so you actually get the perfect mix of bread, meats, pickled veggies, and sauce in every bite. The cured meats were flavorful without being hella salty too, which made the whole sandwich even better. Def need to come back to try some of their desserts near the middle of the line's counter and in that fridge near the register! _______________________________________________________ --- S E R V I C E --- Service was great too. They handled the rush really well, and the staff still stayed warm and attentive even with how busy it was. When I got to the register, there were other customers trying to ask for extra help after getting their orders--and anyone who grew up around asian "aunties" and "uncles" knows how eager they can get. Instead of brushing me aside to quickly help them first, the cashier politely gestured that they'd assist them after finishing with me. It was a small moment, but I appreciated how respectful and composed they were while juggling everything. _______________________________________________________ --- A M B I A N C E -- To-go vibes for sure! It's a small shop big enough for the line (before it can go out the door), cold drinks and desserts in the fridges, small snacks and plates on your way to the register, and the pick-up window on the outside. Makes sense to just pick up your food and enjoy it in your car or at home because of how busy it can get. Heads up--they definitely have evenings where they clean-up and lock the door minutes for closing. Do make time to come before then to secure food!

It's been lacking some logistics and sometimes, it's difficult to hear the order being called out while lots of customers are inside. I told the front staffs that I wanted my portobello chicken sandwich $15.99 and the watermelon beverage $7.99 for here/dine-in. I even left them over $3.50 tips here. While everyone else picked up their orders very fast, mine was stuck somewhere in between others. They all got table numbers except me. I even asked if I needed a table number since I was planning to dine-in, but nobody answered or wanted to respond. They were too busy preparing sandwiches. Wait time to receive order was a bit over 15 minutes. I ended up standing around waiting and waiting, thinking about why I even tipped the place when my anxiety levels were escalating. Without a table number, how would they even know which table outside to deliver my orders to? Portobello chicken sandwich was very good though. Ingredients are full. Ciabatta bread was huge. This thick sandwich can definitely feed two people. Watermelon beverage tasted good too. Tables weren't all wiped down outside, but I can see the few employees hustling and bustling. It's still a strange feeling to not have a table number assigned to me while others did have one. Overall, sandwiches are still good and portions are generous. People love coming here. I think the staffs need more management briefing. They are all hardworking, but the front counter service leaves an impression and feeling about the overall experiences here.
