If you ever in San Jose you can find this jewel down the street from the civic Center it's located inside the SOFA Market. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the menu but they have a huge variety of Vietnamese food, we tried a couple items & they were all very tasty! We placed our order with Lauren she was very nice & patient with us they were 5 of us and we all took turns to order, and paid separately we had a banh mi, rice plates , vermicelli, & Thai teas! They have 2 long tables with 6 chairs each right in front of the restaurant but you can find more seating inside the SOFA. There's also public bathrooms. Parking was a bit challenging because although there's street parking is limited , we paid 35 at a private parking across from the civic, however they might have more accessible parking I just don't know where? The Bun Thit Nuong was amazing. The flavor took me back to the first time I tasted it in Central Vietnam. The egg roll, pork, veggies, and fish sauce blended together so well that I inhaled it. If you are in the downtown area and not sure what to eat, check out this authentic Vietnamese restaurant. In addition to bun, there are rice platters and vegetarian options too. A+++ for Vietnom's catering! I was organizing a corporate event and my coworkers raved about the bowls at Vietnom. It's healthy, light, and the catering process was seamless. Show stopper was the eggrolls! We catered for 40 people for the spicy beef, lemongrass chicken, tofu as proteins on the vermicelli and rice bowls (bun thit nuong). The owner, Viet, was affable and flexible, answering all inquiries. He even came to our event early to help set-up, bringing placards for each tray. He was very meticulous in the order of the trays, cleaning up the table, especially since he really didn't have to. He even went back and forth between the venue to get extra serving tongs, going above and beyond! This was the best catering service I've ever had. It was ~$20/person and very budget friendly! There was many toppings of cilantro, lettuce, cucumber, pickled radish, and their sauces of nuoc mam (fish sauce), vegan soy sauce, and scallion oil. Food was very fresh. Glad this location is still open as the valley fair mall location closed. Too bad because it was my go-to healthy place to eat at the mall. I usually GrubHub it now since there isn't much parking downtown. You can get half vermicelli noodles and half salad bowl. The lemongrass chicken is really good and I like the mint and daikon added. Next to the menu there is a video for "first timers". One of the pro tips is to add an egg for $1.50. As a person who enjoys Vietnamese food, I recommend this place. The vinaigrette dressing is mild and about half the amount they provided was sufficient. Vegan bahn mi: the tofu worked better in this flavor-wise, but they need to slice the tofu instead of have it in chunks, because the chunks kept falling out of the sandwich and making a mess. I ordered a Tofu Vermicelli Bowl ($16) with soy sauce as their only vegan friendly dressing. Everything was made fresh including construction of the veggies, boiling of the rice noodles, and the tender crispy pieces of tofu. Needed to pick up some food to go and decided to scope out the Vietnoms menu at the food hall. Ended up ordering the Rice Bowl with lemon grass chicken and Shrimp Egg Roll ($20). The food was decent with enough flavors that worked well together. I liked the shredded pork texture and initially, the variety of veggies on the side. However, some of the lettuce was really wilted and discolored. I was picking it out as I was eating and it got pretty annoying half way through. Also, with the cost of $2 for a shrimp egg roll, the one single roll was smaller than my pinky. It was dry and honestly didn't taste like anything memorable. Charging $20 for a tiny bowl of food with mediocre quality ingredients is not worth it in my eyes. Pretty disappointed since I heard this place was good, so maybe I was there in a slow and off day. read more

Homeless wander around and no police are nearby. The inside is basic and the food was pretty decent although the food was very liquidy. I ordered the fofu with mirin sauce over vermicelli noodles with garnishing of green onion. The taste was similar to auntie anne phad thau from the grocery store and it smelled like chicken flavored ramen noodles at Walmart. I don't know why but at least the food tasted better and was not too salty. I enjoyed the inside atmosphere and security was inside which made me feel a little but more safer than usual. After eating the tofu and vermicelli liquid soup was left over with mirin and sesame oil. I didn't like that and for 16$ I could have gotten 2 banh mi sandwhiches that tasted better. Overall decent, but was worse than I expected especially with maruchan noodle smell. read more

My boyfriend picked it up maybe 10-15mins later and it was ready. We both got the rice combo, I got the lemongrass pork and my bf got the lemongrass chicken. I was extremely hungry at the time so I ate everything in seconds. It was pretty good, nice flavors, just wish the portions were a bit bigger because I felt like half of my plate was salad. Hands down one of my boyfriend and I's favorite place to eat for a comfort meal. This place always hits the spot, the food is delicious and made to order. All the veggies are always really crisp and fresh too. The price is great for the amount of food you get!
