While we have eaten here and tried many items we've enjoyed yesterday was a MAJOR disappointment. I should've sent back my food, but I didn't. Tried the chicken salad which sounded amazing, but it was utterly gross, it was orange, which I' assuming was too much curry? Awful taste, couldn't even eat half of it. My friend tried the Lenten fish, which she said was tasty, but they screwed up the white rice, was served half done; how do you do that in a restaurant? This little gem is quietly tucked into the old town square facing the courthouse of beautiful LaGrange.. We intentionally chose a Saturday night when the State had its eyes focused on football games. The super friendly staff seated us immediately and explained the specials. The fried green tomatoes came out perfectly fried but the dipping sauce left something to be desired. The better half ordered the bacon and pimento cheese sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries. She raved about the whole thing. I had the ahi tuna with green beans and mashed potatoes. The Tuna was actually the best inland piece of fish I've had in my life! I just wished the serving was larger than 4 oz. We split a piece of pie that had bacon in it,, yes bacon and that too was awesome. We were happy, stuffed and in the road in under an hour.. the entire tab was under $40!!! We are new to Oldham County so we are trying different places and this popped up on my app and I thought it sounded different. And oh boy it was! I have large family with 6 kids so I was concerned about how to fit us at a table but we were seated immediately in front view of the idyllic looking courthouse. The food came in large portion sizes so you will not leave hungry. My husband got the thanksgiving plate, he said it was good but mashed potatoes had a ton of sour cream in them and so he wasn't a big fan. I ordered the bbq chicken taco with cole slaw. It was good but it had a ton of bbq sauce on it. My daughter got the fish sandwich and loved it. My son got the locomotive cheeseburger and devoured it. EVERYONE loved the tator tots. We got fried green tomatoes for appetizer and we were fighting over them! At the very end of the meal, a train literally feet in front of us came roaring through. We were all we in awe. It was really fun. Had a wonderful time. They said the train will run through about 20 times a day! read more

I'm sorry to say that this place is dismal. The food is not fresh, everything is fried, and the meal's components were slathered in a variety of sauces to cover the poor, bland quality. I cannot agree with good reviews. We had burgers- could have gotten better at a fast food chain. We travel frequently and eat out often, so perhaps our standards are higher, but this is simply not worth your time if you're looking for anything decent. Head toward Louisville if you want something fresh and nicely prepared is the lesson learned. read more

This is a great spot for a sit down lunch. They have a variety of items to choose from on their menu. I found their pulled pork to be delicious. The staff was extremely friendly as well. It is also situated in a nice spot, far enough from the highway so you really feel like you are a part of the small town, but easy enough to hop back on if that's where you're coming from. The train that comes down the center of Main Street is pretty cool as well! read more

I always take my friends and family here whenever we want to dine out. I love the charming atmosphere of the area, especially when the train goes by while we're eating. Service is always crazy fast whenever I visit, especially considering the food is from scratch. I do wish their decor matched the quality of their food, but when the food comes all I care about is that anyway. I've had many items on their menu - kettle chips, fried green tomatoes, eggplant fries, caesar salad, quesadillas, fish tacos, chicken salad sandwich, burgers, the fish you wish, etc etc. I would say my favorite is the tender braised beef. The value is incredible. The beef just falls apart and the vegetables go perfectly with it. I really can go on and on about their food. Their banana toffee pie (also known as banoffee pie) can't be beat. Honestly, I've tried. I looked up the recipe the day after I tried that, and even though I've made a couple banoffee pies since then, it can't rival theirs. And OMG the bacon pie. Seriously. Just try it. read more

An overwhelming disappointment, particularly considering the many rave reviews. Decent service and charming decor are unfortunately overshadowed by (to put it most charitably) a less than stellar food experience. I ordered the Bacon Cheddar Burger, and requested it be cooked medium. Over half an hour later, I received a burger that is best described as terribly overcooked - dark, cardboard consistency throughout, burnt, and nowhere close to medium. It is without question, after having traveled the length and breadth of the country, the single worst burger I've ever been served at a dining establishment. I would quite seriously, and I can hardly believe I'm saying this, recommend a McDonald's burger over One Nineteen West Main. read more

We happened to find this hidden gem. We spent the night in town and asked some locals, where's the best place to eat. It was amazing. Appetizer Rueben eggrolls awesome. The fried bologna sandwich is 5 stars on its own. Haute Brown wow. The chef came out. She was so friendly. Great service, extra good food, friendly atmosphere. Who would have thought in La Grange KY I would have found such a good spot! Warmly greeted, promptly seated. The hostess had a smile on her face that was real. Kim, my server, practically was doing cartwheels as she worked. She was attentive enough to be on time, but not too much or annoying. Now for food. I ordered the Locomotive Burger, and it delivered the goods! Ordered to medium(it was), with a crispy fried green tomato, still hot from the fryer, fried onions, ham, and thousand island dressing (kicked up a little extra). The fries were fresh cut and crunchy, and properly seasoned. All of the desserts (according to Kim) are all hand made on site. I went boring with vanilla ice cream and drizzled chocolate. Smooth, silky, creamy. Bottom line: eat here, you will be glad. Warning: its a family style restaurant, super bright, kids crying and all. If you want ambience and all that high dollar atmosphere shit, don't expect it here. If you want to eat a bangin' plate of straight forward food, stop in this place read more

I had really high hopes for this place based on the reviews and the menu. We arrived and ordered fried pickles and deviled eggs. The fried pickles came out and were delicious. The deviled eggs came about 25 minutes later and were not good at all. The pimiento cheese just made them over the top. Our entrees came out about an hour later. No kidding. Have I mentioned we had a 7 year old with us? Also that the restaurant was less than half full? My husband got a burger and it was so dry that he ate less than half of it. My pasta had almost no spices in it and was very bland. It was also room temperature- not even warm. The waitress offered us a free dessert to make up for the inconvenience. We got the brownie with ice cream which tasted like a Twinkie but not in a good way. It was dry and cakey and cold. When the meal was over my husband asked what happened. The waitress said "the kitchen just wasn't feeling it tonight". Um, what?? I wish I hadn't wasted hours of my Friday night for this. read more

With so many delicious choices to choose from, it was hard to decide. I went with one of the daily specials - Gouda Mac n cheese. The macaroni was the right consistency - firm and not mushy. The portion size was also huge. I could only eat half. Great value. The sweet tea also represented the south well. My sister got another special - the black and blue steak quesadilla. Like mine - delicious and a huge portion. I am looking forward to going back again soon to try another one of their tasty offerings. I want to love this place but all 3 times I've been here there have been small issues. Just small things though, like last time when tomatoes were left in a dish when we requested none because of food allergies. They made another dish to replace the mess up but by the time it came out the rest of the party was just about done with their dinner. The first thing we noticed when we walked in the front door was there were only a few other patrons in the restaurant on a Saturday night - not normally a very promising sign. We ordered 3 appetizers to share: the 119 Fries, fried pickles, and reuben wontons. There was too much breading on the pickles which made it hard to actually taste the pickle. Unfortunately, the wontons also tasted mostly like their breading. The fries were ok, but were smothered with black beans and nacho cheese, which made them rather soggy. We had to eat them with a fork. The 3 of us ordered 3 different entrees - a hot brown, a chicken sandwich with a side of eggplant fries, and the beef tips. Everything was just mediocre. The waitress was very sweet but failed to keep our water glasses filled without being asked. One complaint is that my friend who ordered the chicken sandwich was asked which side he wanted. The waitress specifically recommended the eggplant fries, so he ordered those. Only when the bill came did we realize there was an additional charge for that particular side. Certainly the waitress should have mentioned that. All in all, all of the fried foods tasted pretty much the same - heavily breaded and as if the oil needed to be changed. The main courses were not great. Everything was very heavy. Not hearty, just heavy. We were disappointed that no beer or wine was available (although the waitress told us they are waiting to receive their liquor license). Although the prices were reasonable, we probably won't make another trip to 119. read more

Love their fried green tomatoes, and my husband LOVED their Locomotive Burger! I think it's great that they have some outdoor seating, so you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of La Grange. There are a few recommendations I have for them. I think that they have a hot spot location, and could get A LOT more business if they had music playing, custom and fresh dressings for their salad's, better BBQ sauce (maybe a homemade dressing) on their chicken sandwiches, and better quality buns. I have eaten there many times, and have ordered their chicken sandwiches, and the chicken was very plain and very dry- i think it was just thrown onto the pan with a tad bit of oil and then they put a scoop of BBQ sauce on top and on a bun. Dissapointing, but everything else was pretty darn great. I think there are just a few things they should vamp up and they got a great place for all to dine in or dine out:) My kids loved the balloons, and the service was great all the waitresses and the greeters at the door were so kind! read more

I'm jealous of the other people who can actually give this place a positive review. The few times I've been here (not by my choice after my first visit!) the wait staff has been unprofessional and acted like they wanted to be anywhere but there. The chef has never been able to cook any meat the way it was ordered, it's usually always done or well done and DRY. The food is bland and tastes like school cafeteria food. No seasoning at all. My friend did recommend one of the quesadillas, can't remember which one. One positive is that they do have a wide variety of menu options. Other than that, BLAH. read more

This used to be my family's restaurant of choice. We came here for holidays and special occasions because of the variety of choices-- driving from Louisville. We had always enjoyed the food - - everything on the menu was good - - and the service was wonderful. However, something has drastically changed. For the second time we had horrible service, cold food, poorly cooked food, and - - to top it all off - - they stopped offering eggplant fries. The waitress said they were seasonal, but we have been eating here for years and they have never been seasonal before. The waitstaff has changed and I haven't had a good waiter/waitress for several visits. I believe the kitchen staff must have changed too because the food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Saturday we waited 30 minutes on our food - - watching tables who came in after us receive their's before us - - and then I had to send it back because it was cold, we had to ask for hot fries because they were cold, and no one seemed to care. We had to ask for our check from someone who was not our waitress, we left cash on the table and got out of there. That will be our last visit. So sorry to have lost this favorite place in such a cute town. read more
