It's been so long since I've come back here and WOW...I don't think I'd go anywhere else anymore to get my sushi fix. Their concept is obviously "one piece" of nigiri at a time (or sashimi), but this is the perfect place to get a variety of bites! I love how reasonable their prices are, especially considering the high quality of their fish. Looks and tastes super fresh! They even open super late (3am!!!) so if you're ever craving sushi and sake, this is the place to go!

Food is ordered through individual tablets at each table instead of through the server. It's a bit frustrating because this means only one person can look at the menu at a time and you have to wait. The menu is a bit cluttered and disorganized, with some items hidden in folders with ambiguous name. This could be sorted if they had someone tech savvy to fix it. Something they can improve is wiping down the tablets between lunch and dinner. It was really grimey. The servings are not very large and the price reflects that. What's good is there is a unique variety of food not often seen at other Japanese restaurants, like the Okonomiyaki. We ordered a couple of items and they came out in waves. The wait wasn't long but it wasn't fast. The server is attentive despite relying on the tablet for orders and there are special menu deals for certain times. All in all, I would come here if you want a no frills, low interaction eating out experience.

Solid, cheap sushi place when you're just looking for a super casual night out. Parking is on the street and can get a little tough during peak times, but we found a spot easily on El Camino at 6:40PM. There a around 12-16 tables that can seat 4 people, and the dining environment reflects its pricing. You order on an iPad, and their menu is pretty big compared to the staff and kitchen size. The prices appear cheap, around $3-$5 for 4 rolls of sushi, but can add up quick (like kura sushi). I like how they give smaller sushi quantities so you can taste the entire menu and not get stuck with 1 or 2 rolls the entire night at other restaurants. The sushi rolls are on the smaller side so it's not really bang for your buck, just different tastes for your buds. All the rolls I ordered were solid, but there weren't any that made me go wow. Then again, none of the rolls made me go ew, so I stand by the fact that this is a solid sushi place when you don't want all the formalities or wait times that comes with others.

Visited around 5 PM and it was pretty empty. Ordering is done through a tablet with plenty of options -- nigiri, sashimi, rolls, and udon. We ordered about 35 items for roughly $50, which is a great deal for the amount of food, though the quality was hit or miss. The rice was very soft and mushy, lacking the usual sushi rice flavor, and some of the fish -- especially the squid -- tasted quite fishy. The cucumber maki was the highlight: simple and refreshing. Overall, it's a good spot if you're looking for quantity on a budget, but I'd probably skip it next time.

The place is easy to find off of El Camino. The place is a great size for the space. The ordering system was easy and user friendly we just used the IPad at our table. As soon as we ordered the food came out shortly after to follow. I was thoroughly impressed with the service and how everything came out reasonably after each other. It seemed like there was only one person running the place and she did a great job! The udon was quite delicious with lots of flavor and the gyoza was pan fried to perfection. The rolls were pretty good nothing too exciting but for the price point it is pretty reasonable!

Great cute little restaurant! My friend introduced this place to us, we sat down and ordered all of our food through the ipad and came out in a timely manner. We ordered a bunch of different nigiris and enjoyed all of them - price is fairly cheap and worth it. Parking is on the street and there is a public parking lot as well.

Sashimi plate arrived with all the sashimi with selected.

First off, they are not open till 3AM. The owner said she's tried to fix it on Yelp but it still shows 3AM. Great little sushi restaurant. Friendly service. You order from the iPad connected to the wall. I love that you can order 1 piece of sushi and basically create your own "omakase." Aside from nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, you can also order donburi and udon dishes. Service was fast. We got our food timely. The pricing is great. I love the small portions. You can pretty much try everything you want because you're in control of what you order. We ordered a variety of sashimi, a beef udon and a beef over rice. Decent and tasty. No complaints. I'd love to come back again. The restaurant was clean. Bathroom was clean.

Sushi quality here is surprisingly pretty good, and I love the concept of being able to order by the piece! It lets you try more options than if you were to just get one roll, though I do worry how much waste this produces lol. Service can be kind of spotty sometimes considering they're making all kinds of rolls one at a time in the back, but honestly, I don't mind because it helps me pace myself. This is definitely one of my go-to sushi spots in the Peninsula!

Solid 4 for the food, 4.5 stars overall! Been here a couple times, I find it convenient to order everything on the tablet as needed, and if I liked something more, I could easily order more. I had a long workweek, so decided to drop by here last minute a little past 8pm on a friday to treat myself. Chill and peaceful vibe, relatively quiet, minimal interaction with others, and perfect for going through some phone chores. Plenty of parking and no wait at this time. Might be best to come in parties of 1-4 since that's the size of one table. Fish is fresher than expected at this price point, currently 1.25 per pc of sashimi and 1.65 per pc of nigiri, and maybe $3-4 for special items like hokkaido scallop and uni nigiri. Being able to order 1 pc or small portions makes it convenient to try new items, e.g. I learned i didn't like saba or egg herring lol, so just ate 1 pc of those.

The concept for this sushi spot intrigued me. To order a few pieces of sushi and not have so many pieces of one type of sushi or sashimi sounded great! So you could order a variety, get your fix, but not spend a fortune! Win-win in my book! Modern Asian interiors with tablets on each table so you can place your order without having to flag someone down, making life a little bit easier. We got to the restaurant around 8 pm and there were about 4 other tables with patrons. We found a parking spot a good, long block away. Nice to walk a bit after dinner. We ordered a chirashi bowl, seaweed salad (1 pc), ikura (1 pc), Snow Demon roll (4), Crazy King roll (4), Hot Line roll (4), Rainbow roll (4), Philadelphia roll (3), Spicy Hamachi (3), Salmon & Avocado (3), Tiger roll (4). My bf and I liked all the rolls we ordered. The fish tasted fresh and it was at the right temperature where it wasn't cold. I think this is the perfect way to try different sushi rolls especially if you're only dining with one other person or alone. And there's less of a chance that you'll order too much because you can order little by little until you are full. I hate having to eat leftover sushi! It's so much better fresh! We ate just enough and the bill was under $50 without tip! That's a bargain!! We'll be sure to come back to try other things on the menu!

4.5 stars -- as good as they've been for years. Came for lunch on a weekday right when they opened. Free parking in the small lot across the street. Inside was quiet and dim, which was perfect for our stroller with an infant napping. Ordering on the iPad is easy and the order comes out relatively quick. I like how they plate everything all at once. Everything tasted fresh. This is one of the few places I know where you can get udon carbonara and it does not disappointment.

Food's decent here. I love coming here for lunch, as you can get away with a beef udon or bento for about $9. Sushi is sorta meh for the price though. The main gimmick is that you order via kiosk at your table without any wait staff. It's fun to order lots of food, especially since they've got plenty of options, but don't get carried away or your bill will reflect that.

Huge pieces of nigiri! I can't believe pieces are only $1.65 - 3. No wait on a Sunday afternoon, and ordering on the iPad was easy. I also liked the half-rolls (4 pieces per order for around $5 each) so you can try a variety of sushi. Looks like a small mom and pop shop, a true hole-in-the-wall hidden gem!

Ask the Community - One Piece Sushi

Are they really open that late on weekends? Is it the full menu or just limited items?

Limited items. Late night menu is only noodles and appetizers and some desserts.

    Does the restaurant take reservations?

    Do they have outdoor dining?

No, but they re-opened indoor dining. They have 5 tables inside for seating.

Is this place open for dine-in now?

They have re-opened for indoor dining for dinner time as of 02/22

    Are they open during lockdown?

    Yes for takeout.

    Is there food without fish?

They mainly serve sushi but they also have different types of udon, salads, different type of donburi and tofu dishes

Is there an AYcE option? And if so, what's the price?

As far as I know there is no AYCE option here. Since their sushi comes in smaller portions for a more affordable price, you can still eat lots of sushi for not a bad cost!

I came here with a small group of coworker for Happy Hour but unfortunately they don't start at 4:30pm on Friday so we were given their regular menu. Since I'm always looking for protein, I decided on the Happy Dinner Box $18.99 -- even though this is a pretty basic bento, you do get 3 items and that's a pretty good deal for our current economy. I chose beef teriyaki, chicken katsu and salmon. Box comes with salad, rice and miso soup. Taste was standard. Service was nice. Wait for food was about 20 minutes. I also tried the Dinosaur Roll $17.99 which is spicy scallop, avocado, yellow fish, jalapeño, and black tobiko. Although the roll was small, I appreciated that they didn't use too much rice. There were quite a few patrons dining on a Friday night so if you're looking for a convenient Japanese restaurant, that isn't necessarily authentic but still a good value, with ample nearby parking in the adjacent public lot, you might wanna visit Naked Fish. For Millbrae, I can't think of many equivalent options like this nearby, so that makes them stand out. Overall I like this restaurant, but have to ding it for questionable quality control. The salad always has questionable bad leaves. In our most recent order, the plastic had a hole burned into the bottom and the sauce was leaking out. How did they miss that? Are they burning plastic on the regular? The noise from upstairs is very unfortunate. The fitness place needs to change their layout so the poor restaurant below is not so negatively affected by dropping weights.

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and overall it was a really memorable experience. We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

Everything from the chef had a simple description for what it was. My faves for the meal were the scallop sashimi, the chiwan mushi, the yakimono, king salmon, and med fatty tuna. The scallops were flavorful, and just melted. Probably the best bite that I had. The cuts of fish were great. I liked how simple the chiwan mushi was. Definitely was great with the cold weather. The yakimono the butter wasn't overpowering and was well balanced with the ingredients. There was also a fried appetizer that was good but the name of it escapes me.
