As someone who enjoys a variety of nigiri, I get to choose more of what I like since ordering is by piece. The sashimi and nirigi is one single piece per order and rolls come in four pieces per order. Besides sushi, I tried the udon carbonara here and it was so warm and comforting. As soon as it got to the table, the scent of melted cheese is immediately noticeable. The sauce is creamy and has pieces of cooked salmon throughout. One Piece Sushi is located right by a busy intersection near SFO. I came late night, so I was able to get street parking right out front. On Fridays - Sundays nights, they are opened late night, until 3 AM on the next day. I had this spot on my bookmarks for years, so I was excited to finally stop by. Well, little did I know - they do not serve sushi during at night, I guess only during the day, as they have a special menu at night that consist of only appetizers, udon noodles, desserts, and drinks. I felt like it was a bit strange because their name literally has sushi in it - what a bummer. Service is eh - the employee seemed / sounded a bit confused when asked about their menu / offerings. Since they did not have sushi available, which is honestly what I came for originally - I ended up ordering their Spicy Miso Udon with a boiled egg, dried seaweed, fish cake, sweet fried tofu, and tempura crisps. Their udon tasted like the instant udons in a bowl from either supermarkets or Costco, so it was such a waste of time, money, gas, and effort to come down here. Small shop, restaurant was almost empty. I think the ambiance could be a little better. The fish cuts were thick & the fish tasted amazing. I think it's very good value compared to other sushi spots, especially with how thick the cuts are. Back when I used to go the barbershop across the street, I always saw the sign for one piece but never went, but yesterday it finally happened... As a solo diner, I really appreciated the iPad ordering system, although I think it would be better if I could view all at once. That aside, i was able to get some nigiri and rolls, and chicken Karaage. The chicken Karaage wasn't my fav, and I'd skip next time around. For the sushi, the amount of fish on top was pretty good. Flavor was pretty ok but good for the price. I was able to get really full for under $30 and honestly ordered more than I had to. For nigiri you pay per piece and for the rolls they come in 3s. Pricing varies but for the most part is pretty uniform. Pieces range from $1-3 and easy to make an affordable meal if you keep things basic. I came in on Wednesday night around 8pm, and there place was empty. Honestly this was pretty sad because this is an affordable/customizable meal with decent quality fish and sushi. My all time favorite sushi restaurant since moving up to the bay! I'm personally an all-you-can-eat lover, but unfortunately in the city a lot of places don't offer that or do and price it at an alarmingly high amount per person. This place isn't that, but luckily the price range for a piece of nigiri/roll/appetizer isn't bad at all! It's good if you're just trying to get a quick meal in, or if you want to sit and splurge. My big sister and I end up getting the amount of sushi and sides that one would get with all-you-can-eat anyways. Plus I would like to applaud the kind staff and the fresh fish they serve every time consistently in a pretty quick amount of time. They have some really interesting hours, even late at night if you're craving sushi then! I would highly recommend the Kazunoko/Herring Egg nigiri. It was my first time having it today as I saw it was a new item on their specials, and it was actually to die for. Any of their nigiris are honestly bound to satisfy you, so just do yourself a favor and give this hidden gem a try! My boyfriend and I have been coming here for weekday dinner every once in a while. This place serves sushi by the piece, hence the name of the restaurant. When we usually go, it isn't too busy and there are plenty of tables around for people to eat. We ordered through an iPad and it shows all their menu based on categories. The quality of the food is always fresh and amazing. I've eaten here so many times and not once have I gotten an upset stomach. The price is very affordable and there is a HUGE variety of food available. During the weekday it's usually less busy but I recommend either showing up early or maybe during the weekend when it's a little busier. The reason for this is because during the weekday there is usually only one chef and if it gets busy it might take a while for the food to come. During the weekend there is more staff. The atmosphere is very casual and friendly. These are our go to items when we come here. Salmon, escolar, scallops, and walu. The salmon is a must. It's so rich and flavorful and if you want it to be even richer there's the option of salmon belly available. The escolar and walu are more unique flavors and all very tasty. Very disappointed. One thing I hate is inconsistency. I Usually come here when I'm around the area. This is my Go to spot when I'm craving some udon and quick nigiri. Usually the portions here are decent and the nigiri is pretty good for the price. Today I received my food and I paid around $80 to order double of what we usually order only to receive considerably less than what we would pay with $50 worth of food. The portions were in small quantities which allowed an opportunity to try a greater variety. A nice thing about their ordering system is that you can pace yourself. My friend and I decided to try this place out after work on a Thursday since we are close by. We got to the restaurant right at opening at 4pm. It's a little cold inside because they don't close the door and it's a small place. Only one other family showed up during the duration of our meal so the service was very quick. We ordered from an iPad and got an order of gyoza, udon, 4 different orders of sushi (lion king, phoenix, caterpillar, and rainbow), and the vanilla crepe cake. I love that you can order the sushi and it only comes with a few pieces so you can try a variety of different rolls instead of committing to just one or two large rolls. The gyoza was delicious, would order again. The udon was slightly sweet my friend said it was ok. When it came to the sushi it was really just okay. It was great for the price and the service but I didn't think it was delicious. I would say it tasted maybe just a tier above buffet sushi. Specifically the rainbow roll tasted particularly dry and fishy that I didn't want to finish it all. I liked the caterpillar roll the best but I think that's hard to go wrong. The crepe cake was also just ok. I wouldn't get it again. Our total without tip was about ~36$ kind of a steal for sushi I would be willing to come again just to try my luck with other items on the menu.
