Ordered a pan of mochiko chicken. One Plus One in my place to go to order last minute catering. Used them several times for family parties. I love that I can call last minute and still pick up my order on the same day. For under $100 I can get 3 main dishes that feeds 15-20 people. I like their tasty chicken dishes - mochiko, chicken katsu, garlic and orange chicken. The fish and beef broccoli were okay but the roast pork was a tad on the dry side (maybe it was a bad day for pork). It's almost five stars, but it's a little dinghy and little to no parking. The food is what earns them a solid four stars! I've only ordered the garlic eggplant tofu or garlic eggplant chicken, but my companions have had the garlic ahi (delicious and not over- cooked), the garlic chicken (it's seared on a flat top/griddle which makes it crispy but not greasy and it's so yummy), fried noodles (I don't think you can screw up fried noodles, can you?), and chicken katsu (which again, unless the katsu sauce sucks, you really can't screw it up). Business seems steady, I've never been the only person there waiting for food or to place an order. And I noticed that taxi drivers pick up food from here. BTW, the garlic eggplant, with the tofu or chicken, is the best I've had here in town or Chinatown. It's less than $10 and you can get tossed salad instead of the carbs (for you Keto diet followers) that is romaine lettuce, Japanese cucumbers, and tomatoes with a sesame dressing that is pretty good. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have 5 star ratings. 2015 best restaurant to eat at, it's 2017 but things haven't changed, always top scores in health inspections, and the pricing on the amount of food you get is unmatched to any of the competitors. I eat here at least twice a week. Service is great, and calling in your order is the secret to getting the food you want faster than ordering in the restaurant. Dinning in is always pleasant, they have a nice area with AC for hot days and a great selection of sauces for the meal you are getting ready to indulge in. Go to item on the menu is the garlic chicken. It is raved about positively by many, but it's the best thing on the menu hands down. I felt like I had to put a review of One Plus One Drive Inn. I've tried this place before only from what was catered for work parties. I was pretty impressed with the taste of the food so I decided to go with them when I planned a Christmas party. I looked up their prices online. I was amazed at how cheap their pans were, compared with many other places I had looked up. It was actually the cheapest out of all the places I searched for. I placed my order about a week in advance. I ordered the house noodles, bbq chicken, chicken with eggplant, and fried fish. I originally ordered small pans but I wasn't too sure if that would be enough for 20 people so I called them again and asked if they all can be medium size pans. Their location is located right across from Moiliili Longs, on the corner of Coolidge and S. King Street. The parking is very limited so your best bet is to park on the street. I actually came 45 minutes early than what I had told them I was going to come to pick it up. There was a line when I when in at 3:15pm but it was okay. I paid for my order and then I waited while they made everything. I didn't have to wait too long. Maybe about 15 minutes. They label the pans so you know what is in the pans. The cashier was even nice enough to help me carry the trays to my car. I took the food to my party and it was delicious. My personal favorite was the fried fish. Many people raved about the chicken with eggplant and noodles (which were the first to go!). We had so much leftovers that everyone took home another plate and we even asked people who weren't at our party to make themselves a plate. Now I know that smalls pan are good enough for 20 people. The difference with the small and medium actually didn't look too different. The medium pan is only a bit deeper but not by much. I'm just glad that I found a place that makes good food for cheap. This is one of the few spots that hides in plain sight in a very familiar area. Only yelp helps me to find these hidden places. This place is more preferable for take outs. They have some tables to dine in too but nothing fancy. They have a menu that would cater well to the local audience. We ordered the regular plates with the combo option so that we can try multiple menu items. I got the garlic chicken and fish combo with rice and Mac salad. My wife got the teriyaki beef and mochiko chicken combo with fried rice (you pay extra for that upgrade). The portion sizes are huge and are priced right. We liked everything except for the teriyaki beef which was very chewy and was a bit dry. I was gonna start with a negative here, but i might as well say that this place prob still has some of the best prices per serving for plate lunches, and everything is edible. And if i anyone would ever suggest to go there i would never put up a fight, but it's a far cry from where this name sake came from. I've been coming to this establishment when it was originally on Kapahulu Ave, unfortunately the original owners have either sold this establishment or have washed their hands of operations because it used to be a cleaner feeling establishment with more personalized service. Where you could sit down and be served your food, albeit in a plate lunch box, and ordering at the host who stayed at the register if they were busy. But it was nice like that. Where if you were a regular, and you wanted to chat with the owners they would talk. I LOVE the beef stew (although the meat is sometimes hard/chewy) and teri chicken fried rice w/side teri beef!! Looking for a pile of meat for cheap? Well, you've come to the right place. I had their basic bbq plate for under $8. It came with a ton of rice, one kalbi, one long strip of teriyaki beef, and two pieces of teriyaki chicken. The kalbi was good, but hella fatty. The teriyaki beef was okay. It came out dry, but that's probably because it was cut in a thin strip. The two pieces of chicken was alright also. Overall it was a good value. I mean, if you're really hungry and want something for under 8 bucks, then this is a good place to go. It also came with salad, but the meats pretty much over powered the basic little salad. What's funnier is my girlfriend had the hamburger steak and stew. When we opened it I couldn't figure out what is what. I took a bite of the hamburger with some sauce on it and told here that, "I'm not sure what I ate was the stew of the gravy." Pretty funny. It was a lot of food though. This place was my old place to kill-time when I had my motorcycle in for a service next door (Cycletech). I tried a bunch of the dishes, and I'm a big fan of their cooking. Although it appears to only be a plate-lunch place, it actually has a deep menu which includes many Chinese-style plates, including my favorite, "broccoli-beef." The cooks are from China, and it shows in their cooking. You can taste the authentic Chinese-style flavor in the food and there's no excess deep-frying or rich sauces (like PF Chang's). I definitely recommend it over HKs next door. The local plate-lunch items aren't impressive though. read more

They remind me of my fake white box Chinese food back home & taste mighty good. The shoyu pot roast is on the specials board almost daily and is absolutely delicious. It's seasoned well & almost always falling apart tender. My boyfriend is obsessed with the cold ginger chicken and eggplant chicken. The ginger sauce is a nice mix of herby flavors. Now when it comes to portion: they are more generous than I even think they realize. These plates are overflowingly ginormous and yet they're super light on the wallet. I remember years ago our roommates at the time threw out our leftovers by accident and we didn't talk to them for like 3 days. These plates are two meals easy! Bonus, The menu is available on the website so you can call in orders too. Plus they do catering! The location is very small & not fancy at all. There's some tables and chairs if you want to eat in but your food is still served in takeout boxes. I appreciate that the food and prices have remained the same over the time I've been eating here. I frequent this place quite often since it's close to my home, and it's pretty convenient to get to. Always call in a take-out order so it's great to have their menu at home (and one in the car). Service is always pretty quick and it can get really busy at certain times of the day. I've also used this place several times for catering and I'm always satisfied with the quality and portions of the food. It's similar to L&L but in my opinion... Way better!! Great menu selection too. We've tried lot's of different items over the years and my all time fav is the spicy garlic tofu and eggplant with brown rice and mac salad. This place always come through. I have never eaten an actual plate lunch here and have only ordered catering through them a couple of times. What I have seen and tasted through their catering I would expect their plate lunches to be great. Each of the times that I have ordered catering here everything has been ready for pickup at the time stated and everything is fresh and hot. The food is good for the large amounts that it is cooked in and the service is also good. The prices for catering are the best that I have seen compared to so many other places that do catering this is your best bet. I am not sure how they are even able to stay in business with the low prices and large amounts of food that they give you when you order catering from them. Whenever I have to order food for a large even this is the first place that comes to mind and usually will be that place I order from. Usually when you call in an order, they'll have it ready in 10-15 min so they're pretty quick too. Whenever I come here, I'm always torn between mochiko chicken and bbq chix fried rice. Now I can get both (for an upcharge, of course)! Anyway, I also like the garlic chicken. Though it's not breaded like at some places, it's super garlicky and way tasty. They have daily specials - though I'm not sure if they change daily as I don't come here THAT often. Usually when I look, it's your typical oxtail soup or curry katsu, etc etc. Now that all that's out of the way, let me tell you about how much food they give you. Hint: IT'S A LOT. During my last visit I ordered a mochiko chicken plate with fried rice subbed in for white rice/mac. THE ONE PLATE PROVIDED ME WITH THREE MEALS. Granted, lunch is usually my smallest meal of the day but still. SO MUCH FOOD. In addition to the huge portions, the plates are also relatively inexpensive. $7 - $10 seems pretty reasonable for how much food they give. I got there to pick up food at about 20 mins to closing. They were still taking orders (yay) but they line kept extending all the way up until we left at about 5 mins to closing. It wasn't even a weekend! I entered this place remembering a Korean BBQ with the best garlic chicken that was here when I lived in the area a few years ago. I was immediately suspicious as the menu looked quite different and the workers were no longer the Korean family that I remembered. The garlic chicken for this place was acceptable but nothing special. The mac salad was okay. I have had much better at many other places. Other then location if you like nearby I am not sure there are any redeeming qualities for this place. The first place my hubby and I went when we stepped off the plane was One Plus One Drive Inn. This is one of our favorite places for plate lunch. I ordered the BBQ plate which came with sticky rice, mac salad, chicken and steak. There was SO MUCH FOOD and my left-overs became that night's late-night post-party nosh. My first try at One Plus One was okay. I ordered 7 plates for a group. When I got there on time, it was already packed up and ready for pickup. Awesome. I personally ordered the mongolian beef mini plate. It was okay. If you are trying the place for your first time, I would recommend you try something else. I wouldn't order the mongo beef again, but I would go back to try something else. Mini portion was good size, just right. Price to size ratio is good. Service is great. When I called in, a lady with heavy chinese accent answered. Although I'm an oldchineseguy, I braced myself. However, ordering over the phone went smooth and without a hitch. When I picked up the food, I received a pretty cool looking itemized receipt. It doesn't take much to amaze me I guess, but I've never seen such a descriptive receipt from a small drive inn like this place. This was a good eating place. I finally got a chance to eat here after bookmarking it and the portions were tasty and bedazzling. At first I wanted to try their mochiko chicken but i realized that they had lemon chicken too, which i tried and it was a lot easier and smaller than the previous restaurant i ate at, which was a little bit to big. I was very pleased with the order I got and they actually got it right without making any changes. I was very glad that the Gold Peak Green Tea was not too sweet, but just right for me to drink. One suggestion would really help if they had restrooms for customers who are actually dining in the establishment so that they do not have to walk one block away to look for a restroom. Other than that the restaurant is a wonderfully well and i was able to enjoy my evening meal and i will be back again soon so i can try other items on the menu as well trying the mochiko chicken and it will be good as always read more

Second time they burn my Kailua pork. Honestly I don't know how good their other food are, but sooo disappointed on their food quality! Meats are burn bad. One Plus One is a plate lunch place but there are big differences from L&L, which are all different because of franchising. One Plus One has huge portions.
