I wanted this place to be good. We had been passing by it and decided it was time to try. The hostess who sat us had an attitude to begin with which is when we should have turned around. We were seated almost on top of another four top table. We felt very intrusive with the way our table was situated. The waiter brought us Diet Coke that tasted off. Just to get a refill took more than you expect especially when we opened up the menu and saw the prices. Wow! What an eye opener. I had seen and read so many reviews of positive but this place is absolutely overrated!! We wound up splitting a 12oz New York strip. Oh they brought one piece of bread for each of us and shuttered when asked if we could have another, really? The steak was supposed to be medium and honestly I thought the steak was going to moo! It was adorable for a 12 ounce and oh no sides but two pieces of broccoli and one grilled tomato. I would be totally embarrassed to serve this for $56.00. If it were worth that, I wouldn't mind paying that, but the steak tasted freezer burnt. Just a huge waste of money. Never again for us!! read more

Lovely Italian restaurant situated near the harbor! In a sea of American food pubs, Onlywood stands out as a place that provides delicious, high-quality Italian food in Key West. I tried three dishes when I came with a large group, they were the caesar salad, bolognese, and burrata pizza. The salad was utter perfection--creamy and flavorful, I highly recommend it. My only wish is that the salad had more croutons. The bolognese originally comes with gnocchi but I asked for fettuccine instead, since that used to be on the menu and it looks good. The pasta was amazing, loved the fettuccine noodles. The sauce was very meaty, which was great. I had a slice of the burrata pizza and that was also very good. Terrible service, food is underwhelming. We chose this spot for our first dinner in Key West while on vacation. The young lady serving bread was the most pleasant and only positive experience here. Our food took over an hour to come out, and once it did, it was wrong. The server was given a table of fun young ladies right after ours and completely forgot about us. Got a table outside in early March with perfect weather. Wait staff was attentive. Food was delicious. We ordered the MAIALONA - With Prosciutto di Parma, Parmacotto, sausages, pepperoni and homemade mozzarella. Crust was perfect, sauce was flavorful and the prosciutto on top really added a lot. First thing I'll say is this place is oddly overpriced. Or rather, not consistently overpriced. For $15 you can get a (very not special) Caesar salad or a 12" Margherita pizza. The pizza is good, but...those are not equivalent and should not be priced the same. That gripe aside, the food here tastes pretty good, if for nothing else than a lack of a solid pizza/Italian places on the southside of the island. That is not meant to be a backhanded compliment but it probably is. I give it 4 stars because everyone with me genuinely liked their food. The fettuccine and mushrooms pleased two different people at my table who have two pretty different palates. That's a win in my book. read more

The waiter was pompous and rude and couldn't be any more annoyed with us even before we out our order in. We gave him several opportunities and asked if he was ok but he kept on being rude as can be. Very nice casual restaurant in downtown Key West. The restaurant has a wood fired pizzeria. Our server was very friendly and gracious. We were there early during happy hour. Drinks under $15 were half price, but the only drink in that category was a draft beer. Long Island iced tea and screwdriver were good. We ordered small plates which were already discounted. The mini pizzas were excellent and the fried mozzarella was well done. We ordered the sliders too. The barbecue slider was great, but the cheeseburger was more like steak tartare even though I ordered it cooked. I am a bit finicky about hamburger. Good value for Key West. read more

When walking around in Key West, it's easy to stick to the main spots, and the spots that everyone recommends. Countless spots on Duval St, around the harbor, Conch republic etc etc. . We wanted something different- maybe something off the beaten path - a place that wasn't obviously targeting tourists. We found Onlywood strictly by accident - and I'm glad we did! Double cut pork chop, shrimp skewer - both awesome. My daughters pizza...ridiculous! The hamburger my son ordered was on point. Phenomenal crust with the pizza and fantastic flavors and presentation throughout. Our waiter was from Serbia (named Banya? Banyon?). He was awesome - very attentive- made great recommendations and kept everything flowing . Very reasonable for fantastic food and i highly recommend! read more

While visiting Key West we saw Onlywood Grill while walking around and decided to give it a try since their menu looked appealing. We did not have a reservation, but we were able to get seated right away. The woman working the host stand was a little rude when we walked up and while taking us to our table. Our server was friendly, but not very attentive. The table we were sat at was also very small and we could not fit the comically large menus onto the table. Not only was the table small, but there were large salt and pepper grinders, a lamp, and a vase with dying flowers also on the already tiny table. There was barley enough room for our bread plates and olive oil dish. When we ordered our appetizer they had to wheel in a small wooden cart to put next to the table since there was no room. When our entrees (two pizzas) came out we had to scoot our chairs back and dangle the plates off the table so they would both fit. Our biggest issue was with the food. We started with a focaccia bread, and we're disappointed with what we received. It was a pizza crust with a bunch of dried thyme and other herbs on top. The herbs were overpowering, and the bread was dry and hard to bite into. We didn't eat it. We both ordered pizzas, I got the margarita and my boyfriend got the one with meatballs. My pizza was so greasy when I put my fork on it the grease covered it. I picked up my slice and all of the cheese slid off and onto my plate. Not only was it greasy but the centers were both undercooked. The meatball pizza had a similar problem to the focaccia bread as it was covered in herbs, and was overpowering. The outer crust of the margarita pizza tasted good, and I think there could be potential that we caught them on an off night. However the food and service we received were not great, and I don't think we will be back, or recommending this place to anyone. read more

I read lots of positive reviews on Yelp about Onlywood Grill and dined there recently. My server, Giuseppe, was not the most pleasant and he appeared not to care about doing his job. He seemed to drag from table to table, half listened, and was nonchalant. I gave him my entrée order for Chicken Milanese cooked golden brown on each side with arugula and tomatoes on the side. When the plate was served, the tomatoes were on the side but the chicken was topped with arugula that was dressed. I let Giuseppe know that the order is wrong, he told me that I only ordered tomatoes on the side. He took the plate back and when the it was served again as ordered, the chicken had an odd taste as if the dressing used on the arugula had soaked in. I said the same to Giuseppe and he said you asked for Chicken Milanese and that is the taste. I told him, that I've had Chicken Milanese plenty of times and what I have tastes odd. He took the plate and after two tries I did not want to Chicken Milanese again. He returned with a menu and I selected spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli in brown butter sauce. The ravioli was light, the filling was good but the brown butter sauce was missing something but I muddled through. I finished the plate and was happy to have something in my stomach besides a half-eaten key lime pie from hours earlier. I must say that as the evening moved on, Giuseppe was greeted by fellow Italians and he began to loosen up. It was a good look on him. I would definitely recommend Onlywood Grill and for others to experience Giuseppe. read more

I'm a longtime local and self proclaimed foodie/carnivore. Just ate here last night for the 2nd time. Got the tomahawk ribeye for $95. Probably the best steak I've had on the island....cooked perfectly, nice char, and some wonderful accoutrements alongside....a bone marrow "pate" paste, some type of garlicky white chimichurri.....and a not so good brown gravy ish sauce. The marrow and chimichurri were excellent. The only negative thing I have to say.....they advertise this item at 32oz....I would guess the steak weighed in closer to 26oz. Yes, I realize the bone was 18" long....but that shouldn't be included in the weight statement. Long/short.....was impressed both times here, will definitely be back. read more

Visited at 5:00. It was happy hour. They have a few small plates and drink at discounted prices. The outside deck area is really nice. The free side parking lot was a good option. We ate the mushroom fettuccine, calamari, and cheese pizza. The food was good and tasty. The problem was the terrible service from the waiter. He was rude and got the order wrong. I asked him for kids cups and he did not bring them. Well, a cup spilled and he was upset and would not clean it up. I had to do it. He also did not bring me my drink and when I asked him to take it off the bill, he argued with me saying he had brought it. Mind you, it was a soft drink. The food came out before the appetizers and complimentary bread. We asked for extra bread abs he said no. . We said we would pay for it and he said no. Everything has that nice wood char that complemented each type of seafood - lobster, fish, octopus, calamari, shrimp, tuna and more. The grilled veggies were nice, but nothing can top that seafood. We started with the roasted pear and kale salad, which was nice. Pear could have been charred a little longer. The the presentation of the seafood platter made our moths water. The two of us were more than satisfied. The server was helpful, friendly, professional and charming. This place look a little too corporate than that cut Key West charm. Get over it. Dishonest staff took advantage of a foreign guest. My brother who barely speaks English went in. He called me to translate to the server. I stated that he didn't speak much English and instead of taking care of him, the server Ivan took it as an invitation to steal his money. The server Ivan gave him the worst service then added 20% tip for himself without my brother knowing. My brother saw that the math did not add up and that he hadn't added the tip yet, he called me for help. I confronted the waiter on the phone and his response was "that's how we normally do it". The server wasn't able to show me anywhere that stated "20% gratuity is mandatory for dine-in." I asked to speak with a manager but he handed the phone to his fellow server who pretended to be a manager. It took me 20 minutes on the phone to get the mess sorted out. None of the staff either thanked my brother for the business nor apologized for their dishonest actions. This is very infuriating that no one showed any sign of remorse. It sounds like they do this to non-English speaking customers on a regular basis. No one at the restaurant took any responsibility. There are a lot of good, honest restaurants in Key West, no need to subject yourself to this awful place. If you're a foreigner just stay clear of this place. read more

I have never had anything like the food I ate here. I would never imagine putting snapper into ravioli but there it was. Served up with luscious capers and olives. Tasted my friends dishes too: mushroom risotto, calamari and a mushroom-shrimp-truffle pizza (I know right?) that was out of this world. The prices were to be expected considering the area. The gin drinks we had were a little over the top but ok as an experience. Wonderful service. Our waiter was informative and efficient and took our lady trip shenanigans in stride. One star, the host was lost on arrival , the wait at the bar was a disaster with belligerent guests, and a tall Brolic female bartender in particular who asked me what's the problem when a random drunk was speaking to me instead of asking me if I was alright when she saw what was happening. When the male bartender who took my order from the host came out and I told him what happened, he looked at the super drunk bar guest like they were his kids instead of looking at them like adults with a responsibility to act a certain way. The island is full of drunks and lost people , first time in key west and I will say be very cautious where you go off a resort like I am at which I'm enjoying. This isn't an island of class, more so an island of drinks , boating and a lot of drinking When I got this pizza. We got delivery so I can't speak to the ambiance or service but the food was excellent. We had a pepperoni pizza with a side salad. For the pizza the crust was chewy and the sauce was zesty with the right balance of cheese. The salad had an interesting lime dressing. It was reasonably priced for a top level pizza. Our waiter was only seen right at the beginning to bring us water and take our order and once at the end to give us the check. When asked how many slices the pizza had (we were hoping to share) we were told only 4 so we ordered 2 only to find out that was not accurate information and we were charged for a second pizza (which they are NOT cheap, or even reasonably priced for that matter) that was unnecessary and we wouldn't have ordered had we been given accurate information. The food was below average, it actually made several of us sick later that evening. The staff was standing around staring at us several giving us dirty looks as we ate which made us feel pretty uncomfortable . At the end of the meal we left a small tip but did not leave anything substantial as we didn't feel like the service and food warranted that. As we left the waiter chased us down the street yelling at us about not leaving him a larger tip. We would not recommend this place nor will we ever return to try it a second time. read more
