Food = 4 Service = 3 We came here hoping to order the Hawaiian soul food, Loco Moco. Unfortunately they didn't have it. It's a hamburger patty with an egg on top, served over rice and smothered in gravy. That aside, the food was pretty good. I ordered their Island Chicken Curry. The chicken was juicy and tender and there was a kick to their curry which is a nice blend. There was plenty of chicken and a nice balance of carrots and potatoes. The restaurant gives off a knockoff Islands Restaurant kind of vibe but it's not necessarily a bad thing. The restaurant is small but still pretty spacious. Sometimes when I come in, it's a bit dirty and there's trash laying around. The workers are pretty kind, but they don't seem to care too much about the customers or the restaurant itself. Oh well, the food makes up for it. The chicken katsu and teriyaki chicken combo is my favorite. Very affordable as it's less than $10 I believe. Comes with rice, cabbage, and Mac and cheese. The food is good here but we did a catering Service and this place does not know how to prepare for catering. when picking up they tried to charge me again and I had to go find my receipt. They gave me half of my food and told me thank you. I had to ask them where is the rest of my stuff, once I asked for condiments, napkins and plates they told me to go pull the napkins out of the dispenser and grab all the condiments from the trays, this was catering for 25 people. I haven't been out much since the start of the whole Covid-19 situation that we're all going through at the moment, that is until today. I was craving my usual plate of Chicken Katsu, which I absolutely love, but was a bit paranoid in going. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find everything in the place being handled with the utmost care. I was quick to take note of the staff there today (Shelsie, Victoria, and Kimberly). They were very polite and all had on what seemed to be clean gloves. I'm assuming they changed them throughout the day! They even had a glass window dividing the employees from me. The Katsu was moist on the inside with crispy panko crust. Mac salad is better than L&L. Chicken was on a bed of cabbage that was tender. The BBQ chicken was moist and well seasoned. Huge portion. Finally, at last! We have been patronizing this chain for years. Great tasting food at low prices. The most popular item on the menu is the Chicken Katsu (chicken encrusted with panko and fried golden brown). The Barbecue Combo (with chicken and short ribs), Seafood (with fried shrimp, Mahi Mahi and chicken) and Lemon Pepper Chicken (healthy) are also very tasty. Although I love the food I've got to tell the public how poor their customer service is. I went to the Downey location @ 5pm on a Saturday and had a huge problem with the "advanced team" employee who was put in charge in lieu of an on-site manager. I had already paid for my food & they tried to charge me extra because they got my order wrong & "realized" it was 50 cents extra. The employee who took my order admitted that I made my order clear & she was the one who failed to charge me extra. All I wanted was salad instead of macaroni salad. That seems like a pretty even exchange to me with maybe even me losing out a little. But when they gave me the plate with macaroni & I returned it they refused to return it to me the way I ordered it unless I paid extra. The so called "advanced team" employee argued with me even though the cashier who took my order admitted it was her mistake & even offered to pay the difference herself because she felt so bad. Customers shouldn't pay for the employee's mistakes. The "advanced" employee needs customer service training & should never be left in charge. I hope the actual manager would have handled things better. read more

Yumm...this place used to be Ohana Hawaiian but has recently changed company's to One Hawaiian and it is a big difference...
