Had lunch here the other day and it was just an all around good time. Walked in and got greeted right away with a friendly smile. The staff were patient and kind, even cracked a joke or two while I was deciding. That made it easy to relax. I ordered something kinda basic but it came out better than I expected. The seasoning was right on, not too much of anything, and the texture was just how it should be. Even the garnish added a little something extra. I've been meaning to visit Poki Bowl but I haven't gotten myself to it yet. I do like that they have a tofu dish in their menu. Also, check out their menu, I've heard great things! It's definitely a healthy option and a good one. I just landed up getting the Macaron Ice Cream by Mavens Creamery I took the milk chocolate cheesecake flavor for a quick dessert/snack cuz it wasn't lunch time. And it was delicious, a bit expensive for a tiny bite but delicious nevertheless. The staff is sweet, very welcoming and they answer all your questions which makes me want to try out poki bowl for lunch next time, will drop another review on the food. I liked that they had a good amount of toppings, but the sauces were limited. For the price of the bowl, I wish they gave a little bit more protein, but they were generous with the topping. I'm really not impressed with this place based on quality, price, and service. The regular bowl comes out to about $18 after tax which just seems a little outrageous to me. You get to choose 3 proteins like most places but they have significantly less sauce and topping choices than other places. Seaweed salad is an extra $1.50, it's normal for this to be extra but considering the bowl is already $18 it seems a little excessive. The employee just asks you how spicy you want your bowl, I said medium, and he just pumped some sauce on it and we moved on to toppings. They have spicy mayo and soy sauce to add too but not much of a customizable selection. The service itself was pretty rushed and not super friendly. I mean, not outright rude but definitely not cordial. Like asking you what you want next before you even get a chance to really see the options at the next station. I was the only one in there too so it's not like there was reason to rush that much. I think it was just a normal case of unhappy employees ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not my favorite poke place so I think I'd pass on a second trip here. So I went here about a month ago and bought a bowl of just rice and seaweed salad and one of the girls working there was polite and served my 2 ingredient bowl then charged me just under $5 and I left. This review isn't for her, it's for the short bad attitude ugly guy with a dirty beard whom looks like he doesn't shower- that rang me in for the same exact bowl of ingredients (just rice and seaweed salad) but instead he charged me $15, I was in a rush this day to go to work after ordering so I didn't notice the price difference until I looked at my receipt later that night. The very next week when I returned to order the same bowl (rice and just seaweed salad) I specifically asked why did he charge me so much more than his co-worker ($15) did who I originally ordered my bowl from weeks prior. He started raising his voice and giving me all sorts of attitude and said that there was supposedly "No button" to just ring up rice and seaweed salad and then he went on to say that his co-worker whom did charge me under $5 for my 2 ingredient bowl was stupid and that she wasn't allowed to charge me that price for my bowl and that she was supposed to charge me $15 or more for just a bowl of rice and seaweed salad. I told him that was ridiculous and unreasonably overpriced for just 2 ingredients in the bowl (rice and seaweed salad) I didn't waste anymore of my time arguing with him. It was a convenient spot for lunch but the fish quality is okay. I ordered a large bowl with 1 scoop of salmon and 3 scoops of ahi tuna. It is a nice touch at the end to offer a lot of toppings but even with the shoyu and spicy mayo sauce it could not improve the taste of the fish. The sushi rice was warm but it was hard and did not taste fresh- it tasted like it's been there for a while. The overall food experience was okay and I felt unsatisfied. As I'm having my bowl made, there are hundreds of flies in the shop and around the uncovered proteins and toppings. I paid and left with the bowl. I'm combing through the poke cause I'm scared that I'll ingest something that'll make me sick. I end up finding a bone in my salmon poke instead. Not only is my bowl potentially contaminated but I could've choked on a bone! In the trash it went. I usually enjoy it and don't have much complaints whenever I come, but the last two times I've been here, I received the same employee that made my order (I don't know his name, but he has curly blond/brown hair with a tail?). Compared to every other employee here that I've interacted with, he barely scoops any fish, which is upsetting especially if the bowls are around $22. He also doesn't really mix the sauces & fish? Had enough food for 3 days, so if this is consistent the value is much much better than most poki shops I've been too. Poki Bowl was pretty much the OG spot that served up Hawaiian-style poke in what we now call Chipotle-style poke―or as Dean C dubbed it "Cali-style Poke." Essentially patrons pick their base, fish, toppings and sauces in an assembly-line method. I was borderline obsessed with this place when it first opened but after many other copycat locations have opened up I have to say that Poki Bowl has slipped down in my ratings and ranks towards the bottom of my poke list. They not only have raised the prices over 40% since their opening, the generous scoops of fish have declined in a similar manner. I don't mind paying more as I know the cost of business has gone up in Silicon Valley over the past few years, but don't mess with my portion size. On my last trip I spent nearly $20 for a large bowl (w/ $2/scoop of seaweed salad) and walked away still hungry. That my friends is a no-no. I'd say I'm done with this place and give it the 2-star rating it deserves, but unfortunately I might be back. I eagerly opened my bowl ready to devour my late-dinner but my bowl didn't love me back. The rice was hard, making nearly every bite unpleasant. So I settled with spicy tuna, which isn't a bad option but just not as healthy. The staff is pretty nice and accommodating which was appreciated and a plus! The bowl was Average for a poke bowl, but I loved that they fill it up as you ask and even if you want more of one topping vs another they kindly oblige. Solid poke place with all the necessary elements. Decent amount of parking in the lot, though my cousin said it can get crazy during lunch on weekends. It's easy to take your poke bowl to go, so that's no problem either way. There's seating inside, in tables of four. It was empty when we went, so yay! Thank goodness.
