This place was an excellent choice for lunch. The fish was beautifully fried and tender inside. Can't go wrong with white rice, macaroni salad, vegetables.

I should have read the reviews before coming here ‍ The food wasn't good at all. The macaroni salad which is usually may favorite at other Hawaiian BBQ spots was incredibly bland. It tasted like nothing. I couldn't taste mayo, tuna, salt. It was a complete let down. My Katsu chicken looked raw. I'm not sure if they marinade it in something that makes it that color? But I certainly wasn't brave enough to try it.

Your favorite Yelp correspondent and occasional Uber Eats driver found himself in the northeast corner of Ontario after ferrying a Mediterranean meal from my hometown of Diamond Bar to Ontario when my attention was riveted by the "Kra Z Kai's Laotian BBQ" signage alight on the building. Upon entering into the communal dining hall, I discovered that Kra Z Kai's apparently shuttered a month ago. I immediately noticed the long queue snaking its way to the register at Shootz. Though I was crestfallen about Kra Z Kai's closure, I decided to roll the dice -shootz my luck, if you'll pardon my brutal pun- and try out Shootz. I tabbed the best looking item on their pictorial menu- Their much balkyhooed Kimchi Buttered Katsu Chicken Combo, which comes with spicy Mac Salad and steamed rice tossed with green onions and furikake, a popular Nipponese seasoning comprised of minced dried seaweed (nori), sesame seeds and salt/pepper. The moneymaker dish is excellent. The katsu chicken has a nice but not overly crunchy exterior, drenched in a flavorful, Umani-rich sauce made of kimchi butter. Shootz has locations in Ontario, Whittier and Stanton, so I don't know when I'll have it again...but if I I find myself in Ontario again, then I'll definitely take -you guessed it- another shot.

The portions here were a little smaller, but the quality was amazing. The white rice with furikake was great, and the mac salad was fresh with a slightly sweeter taste, which I loved. I got the teriyaki plate with chicken and beef teriyaki, and both were tender, juicy, flavorful, and well marinated. The short ribs had an amazing glaze, and the chicken katsu, my girlfriend's favorite, was crispy, juicy, and not overfried at all. Their customer service was amazing too. My girlfriend ran in to grab our food and realized after coming back that she forgot the katsu and teriyaki sauces. When she went back in, the girl working was kind enough to grab them and even asked if she wanted to try any other sauces. Great customer service and amazing food, perfect pair! I highly recommend checking this spot out, and we're definitely looking forward to coming back.

This place wasnt packed at all. I arrived on a Tuesday around 7pm. Once inside I saw someone ordering at the register and noticed they have big touch screens that you can order at so I just ordered there. They also allow you to put notes on the order in case you want to make any modifications. We ordered the poke nachos and the beef combo. The poke nachos was BOMB.COM. it was loaded! Normally I've had poke nachos with wonton chips but this was unique because it had tortilla chips. It held up pretty nice with all the sauce they put on it. The beef combo was okay. It needed more flavor. Luckily they alsp give you a teryaki sauce too. The Mac salad was also very tasty, it had a garlic taste. Id probably come back for the nachos. That was delicious. They also have tvs playing sports so its a nice area to just eat and relax. Great spot!

But the bbq chicken and bbq beef were right on the money. I did have a problem paying $24 for one combo and one drink, as even with these three items, I was still expecting the meal to not be more than $20 total. That will be the main reason I probably won't return. The service was good. It was quick and friendly. And the ambiance was alright too as everything was clean, efficient, and not distracting. I just agree with the statement earlier that there are better rice bowl, hawaiian, and/or teriyaki food joints in the area at either a much better quality or better pricing. This seems to find that line where what you get, though good, is a bit over-priced for what you get and there is no recourse to get something smaller because then you will be over-paying and still hungry. I'd almost give this place a 4 though because I did enjoy the meal quality-wise.

Incredibly friendly and very helpful with the menu in sorting out which sauce pairs best with the chicken katsu and they offered up a ton of sauce samples so we can really figure out what we like the best. The teriyaki was a little on the sweet side for me, but the blue lagoon and basil sauces were delicious (even though the blue coloring messed with my head a bit lol) The chicken katsu was delicious. So fresh! It stayed crunchy even taking it to go, which is a huge plus. As great as it started, they definitely have some small areas that they could improve on. Both the udon and the white rice tasted overcooked. The textures were off a bit. The fruit salad had lots of good fruit options, but every single grape had a small stem attached to it still. Is that a huge deal? No. Is it annoying to pick off or out of your mouth? Yes. The regular salad and the veggies were almost all cabbage. I ordered the salad assuming it was some lettuce blend, but it was all shredded cabbage and I found that a bit disappointing. On the plus side, I still tasted the salad dressing and it was delicious! The inside was clean and quiet. Decor was cute. Overall not a bad visit, just a few small details that would make them even better. I will be back and might just get extra chicken :)
