During COVID crisis, I was then told by my co-worker of the buy one get one off promotion for purchases of chicken combo plates, and decided to give it a try. It was quite good! With the promotion, it's around $10.59 for two combos. The chicken combo comes with rice, macaroni salad, vegetable, chicken katsu, and chicken bbq. I must say the chicken bbq was quite good but the chicken katsu was quite dry, the macaroni was very good at the first few bites but then it got too much sauce on it. My boyfriend and I ordered take-out from here for dinner last night, and the food was great. I'm so glad to see another fast-casual eatery in the area, since I feel like it's mostly restaurants and fast food with few options in between. We weren't feeling super hungry, so we got the mini shrimp and chicken katsu entrées to share. The shrimp dish came with four standard sized shrimp and the chicken katsu dish came with two small strips, chopped up. Both had the standard: a scoop of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad, and steamed cabbage. The business photos they have on Yelp are a bit misleading, as they show broccoli and cabbage, but both our entrees only had cabbage. The mini entrées are definitely a good size if you're just a little hungry, and leave you feeling satisfied but not full. Our total was a little over $22 for the two mini entrées and two Hawaiian Sun drinks, which I thought was pretty pricey for what we were getting. read more

I found (and almost cracked a tooth on) a bone fragment that was in the sliced steak that came with the plate. I told the woman working to tell the cooks to be more careful. She just said "Ok" No apology to me, no offer for a refund, just turned to the cook and told him to be more careful. She didn't really care. I worked in the grocery biz for many years and I would have at the very least offered a refund for the dinner and an apology. She couldn't be bothered. The ambiance is just boring too. But we continued to wait and order after order went by including numerous mobile orders. After the 10th number after us got called, I asked again and she said 'what did you order?' She just told me 4 orders earlier they were making it and now asks what I ordered. After I told her what I ordered, she says 'oh that usually takes very long. It takes about a half hour to make. They are barely making it now'. Again, not sure what barely making it means but I'm confused as to why they were just making it. Surely she could have told me that when I placed my order. They have a katsu option, but honestly I've only ever had katsu in Kyoto so I just wasn't willing to handle the downgrade to an American version outside of Japan at Ono (but it did look like it could be quite tasty). It took a long time to get our food, considering it wasn't super busy or anything. I took 1 star off because after we got home, we realized that they didn't give us the Katsu chicken.. We live 10 minutes away so we weren't about to drive back. So I highly recommend that you check your orders before you leave the store. My BBQ beef was okay--a bit too chewy and tasted old. Everything was delicious and the meat was good quality as well. Not too much fat or chewy, and good portion. It's a quick serve style so there isn't a huge variety, like I was hoping for the sauce and egg yoke (can't remember the name), and more musubi options, but still a nice place with good food.
