Tonkatsu Black Tonkatsu Miso Came to Onoya Ramen for a quick meal. Dedicated parking out back. Clean spacious table seating. Brightly lit interior. Wait staff greeted us quickly. No reservations needed. Overall the noddle soup was warm not as hot as I would have expected Good noodles. But one bowl of noodles was a bit clumped together not fully separated. Needed to be cooked a bit longer Garlic chips added texture but they did taste a bit burned. Broth flavor was good for both Char sui was thick and meaty with good fat balance Mushrooms added complexity to the bowl One POINT deducted! The menu clearly shows two halves of an egg. IE an entire egg. See images. Both bowls came with only one half of an egg. Clearly mis leading.

This is a great spot for ramen. The restaurant is a little small, but I kinda prefer it that way. The staff is very friendly and helpful when ordering. The ramen is always cooked perfectly, and the egg is always just soft enough and a little runny how I like it. It's a great place to come when craving warm ramen. I love leaving with the warm soup belly feeling. It's definitely worth a try.

Grabbed takeaway from Onoya Ramen - the OG location in Kapahulu. Ordered via Toast local app...used my rewards and paid $4. Gyoza Curry was ready before stated time hut I waited to get it at the estimated ready time. Curry had some spiciness to it....nice and thick with pieces of beef and carrots. Gyoza was house made and fried crispy. Excellent. Just the right amount of rice.

I didn't get a picture of my son's , he got shoyu ramen. He's obsessed with all things noodles and he was super happy, got no veggies, ate it all! 10/10 he said My chicken katsu was super crunchy and yummy. The curry was very flavorful The gyoza was not my favorite but I'd still come back and get some ramen!!!! Thank you we were super happy

I came here for the vegan ramen and went to this location in particular because it had a higher rating. When I walked in, I knew I had made a mistake. The place is a dump. There are half-destroyed chairs everywhere near the entrance and the dining room and kitchen are a mess too. Wet grossness all over the kitchen floor, a visibly dirty mop bucket, a dirty soup pot on the floor, serving stand is super dirty, the employee uniforms are dirty, etc. Also, one of the walls is falling apart. But I have POTS and needed to eat. My bowl came slightly dirty. My ramen tasted off (especially the broth) but I ate most of it because I needed food. I couldn't finish the noodles, though. It wasn't very spicy, either. I won't come back, and I hope I won't get food poisoning.

It was raining and we had little kids with us - we decided to enjoy a take out meal from this place. OMG! It was the best decision! We enjoyed the crispy rice with ahi tuna and also the vegan ramen - which we ordered a spicy version - LOVED IT! All the ramens were incredible- you must try this place if you are craving some amazing ramen. Hope to go in person to provide input on the service and ambiance/ vibe.

Onoya was offering a BOGO ramen special this week from Wed-Fri to celebrate their 5th anniversary, so we braved the pouring rain and flood conditions to come for lunch. It was a good thing I used the Yelp app to join their waitlist, because it seemed like half the people in the area decided to come here for lunch. It was a 25-40 minute wait online, so the timing was perfect for the drive from Manoa. There were at last 10 people already there waiting, but at least the tables were turning petty quickly. We were seated right away and could tell the vibe was that it was a super busy day. We put in our orders and were served within 5-6 minutes. A couple of Classic ramen, a Black ramen, a Tan tan ramen, a pitch of beer, gyoza, and takoyaki. The ramen was piping hot, creamy, and so satisfying good. They're were 3 of is, so the 4th one was to split between us; but we ended up taking most of it home, along with the extra broth. The service was fairly fast and efficient, even for a "slammed" busy day, and the Ramen was excellent, as usual.

I'm super excited about this place since I haven't had a good bowl of ramen in a minute. I was about to loose hope for the ramen scene in Hawaii but this place stepped up to the plate. I got the spicy miso ramen and let me say it was the perfect spice. The broth was rich and flavorful and I enjoyed the corn that came with it. My dad got the black tonkotsu ramen and that was still good but not as good as the miso. The broth didn't have the rich depth to it. The service was fast and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. I will be back here again!

Since weather asking for it, I came here for dinner. Parking was easy, the place was not crowded since it was on weekdays. I ordered classic spicy tonkotsu ramen. Service was great and Raman was also delicious. The restaurant was clean and organized. Highly recommended.

We found this cute ramen spot on the way to Diamond head and it was a slam dunk. They had an awesome lunch deal for 19$. A ramen, gyoza, and a small curry bowl. You can't find that anywhere out here. They have kids ramen sets for like 10$ that are perfect for the little ones. Lots of parking and a zippy's across the street if you wanted to grab some plates to go before heading to DH. Service was fast and the whole meal was great value. Highly recommend!

I wanted ramen and was looking for the e-recycling place when I saw the sign for Ono-ya. My sister had recommended it so decided to stop by for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised with their vegan ramen options. Yum. I ordered Vegan Fire Ramen with spicy level 3. It was so good and the spicy level was just right. I would give it, 5 stars but, in an empty restaurant with just me sitting there, a party of 7 came. Instead of just pulling a table from another part of the restaurant, he asked if he can pull one of the tables that was attached to my seating which disrupted my meal. Think of the custoner instead of being lazy please . I live in McCully and walked to Mr. Ojisan for a drink and saw their sister restaurant right next door so will go there next time.

Visit not starting out great...our waitress is super rude. Ugh.

Craving a good bowl of ramen while in Hawaii, we found this well-rated spot on Kapahulu. Parking was limited in their immediate lot so we found parking in the lot by the Jamba Juice on the back of where they're located. Seated quickly and decided what we each wanted. Our waitress came to take our order and when asked what spice level I wanted for my spicy miso order, I asked "how spicy would you say medium is?". The server rolled her eyes and rudely said "how can you ask that? It's MEDIUM.". What the heck? First of all, not all restos spice levels are equal. Especially asian eateries. I've asked this question before at other restos when there are spice levels and wait staff have always been able to provide something to relate the level to, like it's on par with Sriracha sauce etc. This lady was so disrespectful and acted like I asked her something outrageous. Her attitude was extremely off-putting and totally unnecessary. She could have been polite about it. When I tried explaining that I just wanted to know if the general consensus here is that the medium is still very spicy or tolerable, she continued to respond aggressively, intentionally making me feel dumb for even asking. I really wanted to walk out but the kid was hungry so I stayed put despite her piss poor demeanor. My spicy miso ramen was good - nice al dente ramen noods with a nice chew, tender/flavorful chasu pork and spice level that was almost too spicy for my taste, but overall very solid. Husband and son enjoyed their bowls as well. Despite my ramen being tasty, our waitress with the terrible attitude left me wishing we hadn't come. Listen, if you don't want to answer questions from your customers, maybe you shouldn't be working the front of house and should stick to the back. This super rude server basically ruined the good mood I had coming into this meal. For that reason I can confidently say I will not return the next time we're in town.

I do not believe that they have udon--only ramen options, for noodle dishes.

Can I order and take home?

    Yes, they do take out!

Is AMEX (American Express) accepted here? Thanks!

    Yes

    Do you serve alcohol? byob?

    Yes they have alcohol! :)

Do all your both have MSG or Disodium or glutinate?

Overall, the ramen was very good, but I want to share an important tip about their waiting system so others don't get caught off guard. When your name gets close to the top of the list, do NOT wander away. They will call your name three times, and if you're not standing there, they'll cross your name off immediately. What surprised me was that they start calling names before the current customers have even finished eating or paid their bill. I had made eye contact with the host, pointed to my name and party size, and he acknowledged me. There were still people sitting at the counter eating, and it looked like it would be another 10-15 minutes before seats opened up. I stepped away briefly and came back, only to find my name had already been crossed off the list. The party that was supposedly leaving hadn't even paid yet and was still sitting in their seats. When I explained the situation, the host simply said, "Sorry, your time passed already. I called your name three times." Their sign says they will wait 3 minutes, but in our case it felt more like they called the name three times in quick succession and then removed it. Thankfully, after some discussion, he agreed to seat us anyway. So my advice: once your name is within a couple spots of being called, stay close and pay attention. As for the food, we ordered the Oxtail Ramen (spicy) and the Cashew Pork Ramen. The ramen itself was excellent. The oxtail was tender, although it didn't have a lot of flavor on its own in the soup. They provide a separate bowl with ginger and what appeared to be a ponzu-based sauce, and the intended way to eat it is to remove the oxtail from the soup and dip it into the sauce. That definitely enhanced the flavor. The restaurant is set up with bar-style seating in a half-oval arrangement. Your party will be seated shoulder-to-shoulder, and guests will be sitting directly across from you on the other side of the counter. I'd estimate there are about 25 seats total. Service is efficient, food comes out quickly, and most customers finish and leave fairly fast. For reference, we arrived at 8:38 PM on a Tuesday with 17 people ahead of us. We were seated around 9:15 PM, our food arrived by about 9:30 PM, and we left around 10:00 PM. Overall, this would have been a 5-star experience if not for the confusion with the waiting list. The ramen is absolutely worth trying, but understanding how their queue system works will save you from a potentially frustrating experience.

(They also have a cold vegan ramen) I waited until I tried all three of the warm vegan ramens to post this review. Each one has a different broth but all are topped with charred fresh vegetables that remain crisp yet melt in your mouth. Mmmmm! Love that they have eggplant and kambocha, simply brilliant! And the noodles are medium with a slight curl. They have great texture and a bouncy bite. But let's get to the broths. The first one I tried was the clear broth. It was light yet complex, fresh yet savory. The next one was the tan tan. It was creamy and nutty, rich but not gritty (like some tan tan ramens). The last one was the tomato broth, so unique and distinct. It was tangy yet sweet and aromatic. (note: they serve this with a shaker of Parmesan cheese to use as a topping, makes culinary sense, but I also don't consume dairy so passed on the topping). Now you're probably wondering which was my favorite. I don't have one. They are all different and delicious! No complaints. Only praise for three impeccably crafted dishes cooked with care. I adore that I can come back and eat whatever suits my flavor fancy. They also serve a vegan karaage. Crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside but enough texture to make it feel 'meaty.' They do a great job with this dish serving it with a small salad tossed lightly with a goma-ish dressing. There is also a side sweet chili dipping sauce. I also am in love with their chips. Seems like a quirky item for a ramen menu but once you have it you realize how much sense it makes. Cut thin like air, the potatoes are cooked to golden perfection and sprinkled with Himalayan sea salt. It's a great crunchy starter before a bowl of warm sumptuous ramen and something other than your typical gyoza... Speaking of gyoza, they don't have a vegan option but my hubby tried it and always orders a side. They have options with cheese and garlic toppings too. Hubby has also tried their tonkatsu and shoyu ramen and slurped it ALL up. He was especially impressed with the shoyu ramen. All this deliciousness is enjoyed in an air-conditioned restaurant with an industrial steam-punk vibe. High and low tables accommodates seating for couples to groups. They also have a lovely lanai if you prefer eating outside. Street metered parking is easy to find, and they also have validated parking in the small lot. Junpuu is right across the Blaisdell Center so it is a great option if you're there for a fair, concert, or other event. The servers are courteous and efficient, and I give their playlist 5 plus stars. I usually find myself tapping my feet or humming along to the well-curated songs, classic and retro. If you are Gen-X you will totally understand! I came to Junpuu looking for a warm vegan ramen, I found three. And I'll keep coming back and rotating through their stellar selection of amazingly tasty noodle soups. Well, that and the karaage and chips. If you are vegan or vegetarian this is a MUST-try place. But you don't have to be to enjoy the bowls of culinary comfort that comes out of the kitchen of Junpuu.

Since the service was so efficient, after eating, we still had time to zip over to Magic Island to stroll around, take in the scene and enjoy the sunset before heading back to the airport. Our last evening in Hawaii was really special thanks to this delightful restaurant!

The Good: * One of my favorite dishes is the cold chicken noodles with dipping sauce. It comes on a bed of freshly cut cucumbers & noodles if you wish. Literally is such a clean delicious dish. No one else makes this kind of dish. I highly suggest if you don't wanna eat ramen that day, but you want a good stack of noodles and protein. * The tan tan ramen is the basic good stuff that never gets old. * I have also tried the sour/spicy clear brother ramen and that was real interesting and good, but I gotta be in the mood for that one The Bad: * sometimes it's so busy! gotta wait for a table The Weird: * the menu is getting larrrrrrrrrge, screaming that the restaurant is run by Chinese really lol

Food was decent and Portion was reasonable. What I didn't like was how they kept coming up to our table and trying to take away our plate and bowl as if we were finish. Not once but 3x. Seriously, I still had ramen and char sui in my bowl. Let me finish!!!. It felt like they they were trying to rush us and mind you it wasn't busy at all. To add to it, when did they start automatically adding 15% gratitude for a party of 2. I get if its a big party but for 2 or even if by yourself is unbelievable. Save yourself the trouble and eat at another ramen spot. There is a few good ones around ala moana area or in the food court as well.
