We came across Oono Sushi back in 2019 at a vegan market and we absolutely loved their rolls! They have a good amount of items and the flavor comes out in their craft. We always want more after we finish an item. The best so far is their Shrimp Tornado Tempura; it is a fried tempura roll of vegan shrimp, avocado, and cucumber then topped with spicy mayo, a sweet & dark sauce, sriracha, sesame seeds and a crisp seaweed salad overtop everything. Every single time we've gone we've always had great customer service. Whenever we had a question about a certain item or what was in it, they would answer it clearly and even explained how they made certain elements for a given item. They are a pop up and do not have a brick and mortar location so you MUST be following them on Instagram to get the most updated information on what their whereabouts are. They go to different areas in California for markets, fairs and other events. Everything is posted on there so you shouldn't have an issue with finding their next closest pop up. I tried the tornado roll and the shrimp tornado roll (??) and I have a preference for the tornado roll. As a non-vegan, I'm surprised by how delicious it is and the texture makes you forget that there is no real fish in it. I feel like both times time flavor was consistent so good on them! Oono is a cool looking stand at the mid Wilshire farmers' market on Wednesdays about 10a-2pm at Courtyard Place. They have an extensive selection. I went with the salmon, crab and avocado burrito which to be blunt was: phenomenal! Very fresh, large, fluffy moist rice with delicious salmon & crab meat nestled in it surrounded by lush avocado. Summery: good but very small portions. You will need to order two. I struggled with this rating. The good was that the food was tasty, and the person taking orders was friendly and polite. These are good star deserving aspects. The bad was that the portion was just way too small. Not smaller than ideal, I'm talking crazy small, like I would have had to order at least two lunches to get one average lunch portion. I had a sushi burrito for $16. Most were about this price. I feel like $16 is about what most poke places and similar "fancy food" take out places charge for a lunch portion. One gloomy day in Los Angeles I come across this sushi joint. We drove all the way from Las Vegas for a one night stay in lovely Los Angeles to visit Universal Studios Hollywood only to get scared pantless by zombies on walking dead attraction. Great place to indulge in Vegan sushi. I love their extasy roll. Looks like real tuna and salmon but of course it is not. Extremely tasty and filling rolls. Hard to locate as they are at a pop up.
