I've been to the Opa! chain a couple times. The lettuce cups were pretty good, just a little heavy on pineapple. The Gyro meat is good too, not too dry, and excellent in tzatziki. Someone in my group ordered the orzo soup. He actually told the waiter to take it away otherwise he'd finish it. He said it was rich and delicious and he'd be done for the day if he finished it. OPA FRIES So let's start with these fries - crunchy and thick with a nice tangy mustard sauce. Comes with a nice sprinkling of feta cheese. Great start. KEFTEDES Beef and Lamb meatballs simmered in dark red tangy marinara sauce. Very well done - juicy wit hgood spices, rich and tangy, included feta cheese and parsley. Comes with some well toasted fluffy pita bread. FRITO MISTO Calamari - lightly battered except it's unusual because it has shrimp and green beans - in fact the squid was in the minority. Two sauces come along - Thousand Island-ish sauce and a red cocktail sauce. This dish just doesn't work - it's kind of a weird combination and the batter is on the oily side. Beware if you're just looking for the standard calamari appetizer. Minus points since they also included battered onions - that's kind of cheating, isn't it? SPANAKOPITA Shaped into large thick triangular pieces. Spinach and feta cheese covered by a really crispy exterior like a good spanakopita should. Could use a little bit more spinach but the combination with feta and spinach really works well here. Served on a bed of arugula lettuce. GREEK BEET SALAD Red and yellow beets, comes with a scoop of goat cheese on top of another bed of arugula lettuce, and candied walnuts and herb citrus vinaigrette. This one is a yummy salad - the beets are perfectly tender and cool but not refrigerator cold. The vinaigrette is a little bit sweeter than you would think but that makes for a better combination. The candied walnuts are chopped up so you get a little piece of crunch and almost every bite. PAN SEARED MAHI MAHI Just took one bite here, but thought the Mahi-mahi was very flavorful. Texture could be a little bit more tender but overall good - the mashed potatoes pretty regular. KOKINISTO ME MANESTRA Slow roasted braised lamb shank with Greek orzo pasta topped with mizithra cheese and served with a side of sautéed spinach. The spinach is wonderfully delicious, the orzo is well cooked the sauce has a certain sweet canned tomato flavor to it. The lamb meat simply slides off the bone wonderfully. You'll have some bites that are going to be harder than others but there's nothing like a bone in lamb shank on a cold evening. This is a dish that will keep well and it may even taste better in the morning. PASTICIO A hearty layered pasta casserole made with spiced beef and lamb, seasoned with cloves and nutmeg. Topped with a baked bechamel sauce, served with a side of horiatiki. This is a classic Greek favorite. While it looks like a dessert it definitely tastes like a Middle Eastern shepherds pie - a little unexpectedly sweet. But overall it's a solid dish that is very hearty and rich. Before we even got seated, terrible service. Walked in, empty, the server eventually begrudgingly walked up to my partner and I. Said nothing. I asked "are you open?" When the food came out, fries were nearly cold and the lamb was overcooked. Had this not been a business lunch where my colleague picked this place, I would have said something to the server. Had some of the most amazing times eating and hanging out at OPA! I've visited some of the other locations before and their service has been just as great as their delicious food! The ambience is cozy and I appreciate the attentiveness and hospitality of the servers. I came here with my friends earlier this week for my birthday and our server's recommendations enhanced our dinner experience. One of my friends loves all types of loaded fries and he rated the Gyro Fries to be one of his top 3 -- definitely a must try. Wait time is average, but definitely worth the wait. It has been a pleasure getting to know the manager Fernanda the times I've gone to eat at OPA. She's been very welcoming and ensures we have a great experience. In any case, it is not the place for quiet conversation or making a heartfelt connection. The martini was up to snuff, and even better with some feedback that wa received in good spirit(s). However . . . The Santorini chopped salad was primarily uninteresting greens with a light mix of onions, peppers, etc., and an average dressing. It may be that this salad is intended primarily to be a background for the chicken and shrimp normally included. Choosing to order this vegan is probably a mistake. The Greek Village Salad, on the other hand, included all the veggies one might want and a good dressing. The mix may be a bit heavy on the onions for some people. But not for me. And those can be readily extricated if that be your inclination. The falafel pita was drowned in a mostly yogurt tzatziki sauce. One wonders if that was intentional since the falafel was decidedly sub-optimal. Lukewarm, the exterior not even a little crisp, and the interior mushy and undercooked. Came here for a friend's birthday! We were excited to try Greek food since we never tried it before. My friend had a reservation so we got seated immediately. The ambiance of the place was very lively. Although it was loud, it was obvious people were enjoying the food or each other's company. We got the cheese appetizer that lights up.. no idea what it's called haha but when it comes, the waiter lights it up and it turns into a flame and he yells "OPA!" I think that's tradition? It was pretty cool to watch. The appetizer was smaller than I expected and it tasted just okay. It was melted cheese and bread. My bf got a chicken pita and I got the lamb skewers. I came here on a Monday at 2:45pm with a party of 3. We were highly recommended this restaurant because there's another location that was really good. To our disappointment upon entering the restaurant to try to get seated there's was no workers insight. There was also no other customers eating at the restaurant. I thought there was gap between lunch and dinner so we had to look at their operating hours. We saw that they are open daily from 11am-9pm. There is not a gap so where is everyone? We started asking "Hello? Hello?" "Is anyone here?" "Are you guys opened?" A lady was washing her hands in the back and yelled back "Yes we're open!" We tell her "Great. We'll seat ourselves outside." Menu looked and sounded great. We ordered the Gyro Platter with Salad, Lemon Chicken Orzo, Opa Fries, and drinks. After 30 minutes of eating and not seeing no workers, we were done and ready to go. I walked into the restaurant and both of our waiters were seated at the bar just talking to each other. Food: KOKINISTO ME MANESTRA ($32)- Lamb Shank with Greek Orzo Pasta in Tomato Stew. I liked my dish and thought it was pretty good though it was quite pricy. It did last me about 1.5 meals though. Also the lamb could have been more fall off the bone but it was generally good. Falafel Bites ($9)- Not a falafel snob by any means so i dunno how great these are compared to other places, but I felt it was good. That being said its nothing too crazy so I wouldnt order again. Sagnaki ($14)- Pretty pricy for cheese and pita bread but the presentation is cool. It comes and they light it on fire and all that. Taste was just what you would expect from cheese and pita bread lol Overall, I had a solid experience and wouldnt mind comin back to try the other things on the menu. The food was delicious, the establishment clean, but what really makes this review glow is the SPECTACULAR SERVICE that my girlfriends and I received from JOE. Sunday at 3pm, immediate seating (but we had a reservation). No other patrons in sight and Opa was EXTREMELY short staffed. The only person in sight was the Bartender, Joe, who coincidentally turned out to be our server as well. Wow, Manning the inside and being our server outside?? We opted to sit outside and enjoy the sun, however needed to switch tables and Joe was quick to accommodate. Joe was Friendly, personable, had great suggestions for the food, and was very accommodating. His food suggestions were on point. His service was attentive. Our food arrived quickly. Our order was correct. Everything was clean. When we asked for his drink suggestion (because he is the bartender), he created something that was delicious. Even when I asked 20 questions about the menu, he was patient as I decided on what to order. Although there could be a bit of a walk to get to the restaurant. The prices are on a higher side but there a wide variety of choices in the menu. The parking situation here is so terrible, which is too bad because the food is great and service is good. I normally get souvlaki but if you want to indulge in something rich the pasticio is a favorite (without the balsamic drizzle). All the apps, salad and soup are great... my friend loves the opa fries.... and they have a small bar. It gets loud but not awful. Seriously though.. the parking. Aye yiyi. Fries (rated 5/5): French fries tossed in a vinaigrette w/ feta cheese and served with their signature sauce on the side -Gyro Meat Platter (rated 4/5): Sliced Gyro meat with red onions, tomatoes, fresh mint, tzatziki sauce, and toasted pita bread -Feta Cheese and Olives (rated 3/5): Feta cheese, kalamata olive spread, medley of olives, and toasted pita bread -My Entree (rated 4/5): Chicken pita with Opa! Had a great time here for New Year's Eve dinner. We originally were going to Pacific Catch but it didn't look or smell good inside. We went to Opa! Next door without reservations and offered to sit at the bar. After getting our drinks, the hostess was super nice and let us know a booth opened. We moved to the booth (super spacious away from everyone since Covid) but the bar would have been ok too. We had the zucchini fries and meatballs and they were so filling that I didn't have much room for my steak. The steak had lots of feta cheese on top! The high ceilings make it look fancy, but I could hear conversations from tables away, and when there were large groups present, it was impossible to hear my husband. I literally shouted at him" It's too loud in here!!" and no one even turned. For appetizers we had the Zucchini chips and the Opa Fries. Get the Zucchini chips!!! They are amazing! I'd pass on the Opa Fries. They're good, but average. They add feta to them, but the feta falls right off, so is more decorative. We had a Veggie flatbread, which was huge and really good, chalk full of cheese and toppings. The meatloaf was also very tasty and came with multiple huge slabs. We definitely over ordered. I loved loved my Sword of Ares cocktail. Sweet, but also strong enough where all the noisy bros at the bar bothered me less and less as I drank.. The guy refused to do any changes to the dishes (ex: instead of pita chips, sub with fries), this had never been an issue with any of the other servers at previous visits. We ordered opa fries as an appetizer, and the girl spilled the a lot of the fries and all the feta cheese all over the table. She apologized and cleaned up, but unfortunately we lost a lot of food from that so it was disappointing she didn't offer to bring out new fries, she just cleaned up the spillage. Entrees took forever to come even though the restaurant only had about 12 guests at the time, and they got the orders wrong too. No apologies when we let server know, he just took the wrong dishes back and later brought out the correct ones. He didn't come by to check on us and we had to flag him down a few times to refill our drinks or get napkins since he gave us a cracked glass cup. When it was time to pay, I asked him to please use the 15% off digital code (I've done this a few times at previous visits here and never had any issues), but he made no effort to try to get it to work. He just said manager isn't here so they couldn't process. If the restaurant was super packed I would understand but the place was pretty empty for a weekend dinner rush time.
