This is a simple place, with generous portions. You order at a counter, and they call you when the food is ready, basic. The Wife got a falafel platter and salad, and I got a falafel wrap, with a side of fries. I was easily filled up with half a wrap, and took the rest home. The falafel was just what you wanted, not too crunchy, for instance. The platter and salad were just fine, nothing special. The desserts looked delicious, but we didn't try any.

Chicken and rice, chicken and rice. The only thing you should get here. The rice is seasoned well, the chicken is moist and tender. It's a great place to take a break from work

Fantastic Mediterranean food to-go in Lower Pacific Heights. Opa cafe blends fresh Mediterranean with a relaxed dining atmosphere. The service was super quick and easy. I got the Beef Gyro plater. The beef was super flavorful, the tzatziki sauce was earthy and delicious, the salad was crunchy, lemony and light and the saffron rice was cooked perfectly.

Recently ordered the lamb shawarma hot plate, which comes with hummus and rice. It was plenty for two people to share and the food was delicious. Great value for the amount of food they serve. I have also had a sandwich in the past and also thoroughly enjoyed it.

We got to Opa Cafe during their lunch rush and it was busy! The cafe is cozy and nice, though it can get loud during lunch time with all the hustle and bustle. You place your order with the cashier and you can take a seat at a table or take your food to go. We opted to eat in while the food was piping hot! GRILLED LAMB KEBAB PLATE ~ Meat was juicy and tender though cooked more well than medium, rice was a bit too soft and soggy, hummus was watery and thinned out. They give you a generous portion, but I've had better. HUMMUS BOWL W/ CHICKEN SHAWARMA ~ as I said, hummus could have been much thicker, but chicken was tasty. We were disappointed with the textures. It could have been better if they were less heavy handed with the water. We usually aren't in this part of town and made a point to try them out. I guess it wasn't our cup of tea, while others seem to love them!

I've had my eye on Opa Cafe for quite awhile and yesterday was the first time I was able to visit and try their food. The cafe is set up for you to order at the counter and then take a seat and wait; they let you know when your order is ready and you pick it up at the counter...very casual. Most orders were takeout, so there were plenty of seats in their dining area. Everything is served in takeout containers, even if you want to dine in, so don't expect real utensils or plates and glasses. Now for the food: lots of options, so it was difficult to decide, but I went with the grilled beef kebob plate with salad, rice, and hummus ($16.95). It came out piping hot and nicely flavored, although I needed an addition of salt to bring the flavors out. I think it would've benefited from a nice squeeze of fresh lemon. The rice, salad, and hummus portions were great, but it was a little shy on the meat side. The salad also needed a bit more dressing for my taste, but I'm sure the amount of salt and salad dressing would've suited many others just fine. Service was pretty fast considering how busy they were. I was there at lunch time, so lots of folks from Kaiser were picking up lunch. The woman at the counter was really nice and friendly, too, so it was very pleasant. I would definitely go again when I can.

    Grilled Lamb Kebab Plate

Nice place. Sticky dirty table. Workers chatting standing around . Cleaned table myself. Got Grilled Lamb Kebab. Took 15 minutes, I was only one waiting. Got pretty looking plate. All was good except Lamb meat was bad, each piece different, only one soft juicy, rest either dry, hard, chewy...disaster. Overall this is parody on Mediterranean food place. This whole team has seemingly no clue what they are doing. But maybe other plates are better. I will not recommend this place for above reasons. Good luck.

I come here often since it's convenient and affordable. They have a huge selection including breakfast sandwiches, burgers and kebab plates. My go to: - hummus bowl with lamb shawarma (a bit greasy) - chicken shawarma plate - extra meat ($4-6)

    Delicious!

Fear of Mission Out. The sandwiches are in high demand. The line on a Saturday that went from the intersection, around the fridge section, to the cashier took about 15 minutes and the sandwich took another 15. Both sandwiches were filling and fresh. We got hot ones with toasted bread. The couch potato with crispy pancetta was good, but American cheesier than expected. The preferable lemon pepper chicken sandwich was bright, flavorful, and tangy, with more dimension. I don't know if it's my favorite sandwich, but certainly top five. I give them five stars, however, because everyone was unpretentious and super nice, the sandwich artist is a machine, they have unique items, and they only charge $1.25 for a can of soda. As for the fresh chocolate chip cookies, my wife liked them. I didn't understand the hype. They were fudgey and doughy, so I guess if you like eating cookie dough you'll love them. The Godfather: Genoa and pepper salami, oven gold turkey, provolone, and garlic spread on Dutch crunch. Great texture, warm from the toaster, and the garlic spread ties it together. A San Francisco classic done right. The San Franpsycho: it normally comes with honey turkey, but they had rotisserie chicken on the spit so I swapped it in. Gouda, bacon, pesto, garlic spread, and remoulade. The pesto comes through right away and the chicken tastes like real rotisserie. Fair warning: it is messy. It drips. Do not eat this in the car.
