It's my first time at the Orange auto center however they've been servicing both of my parents cars for years. My car is about 10 years old a Mazda SUV. I felt like their service was very honest and pricing was fair. My primary reason for going in was an oil change for my car, but I took a list of suggested repairs I received at the Mazda dealer. When I went to pick up my car, they confirmed my suspicion that the repair suggested by Mazda not urgent and the owner gave a good picture of what I should be thinking about getting repaired in the future depending on how long I was gonna keep my car. I have been to this business twice and was helped by Jim. I wish I would have found them a long time ago. The first time I had my air conditioner serviced on an older suv. Jim was upfront about what I could expect from the service given the age of the vehicle. They did a great job and I was very happy with the results. On another occasion after completing about 1/2 of a repair job, it was found to be a much more complicated situation. Jim was forthright about the situation and even after working a whole day on the car, they didn't charge me. (2008 BMW 328i with high mileage) Discussed the problems I was having with Abe and we agreed on what needed to be done. He was super knowledgeable of my car and did the repair in 1 day. Amazing!!! Indeed "Buyer Beware" when it comes to Orange Auto. I came here on a referral from a friend when asking for a reputable mechanic last summer when my A/C broke down. My regular fabulous mechanic down the street, unfortunately, did not fix A/C. I brought my car in at 10 AM. The guy at the desk told me it would take a "couple of hours." I had to wait, since I didn't have a ride. It was sweltering in their waiting room as they did not have A/C. Still, I took to reading their magazines. After asking for updates all day long, they finally finished. SIX hours later. I could tell there was a problem but they refused to communicate with me. The next day, my A/C made a God-awful noise when I was driving to Chino. It would continue to make that noise daily. I called them and the owner seemed perturbed that it was having issues, but he *graciously* allowed me to bring it back in. After charging me over $800, he had better let me bring it back in! Oh and the owner explained that they gave me a discount because they gave me two hours of labor for free. What kind of incompetence would dictate one A/C job on one car take six hours long? They looked at it and insisted my alternator was the reason for the strange noise. I did not have any problems with it beforehand. Wouldn't you know it, a week later my alternator died. How the hell is an alternator even related to your A/C? I'm no expert, but they left me feeling extremely distrustful of their work. I did NOT take it to Orange Auto, but instead to Five-Star, for the alternator repair. It is my belief that they actually did not know how to repair Air Conditioning and attempted to muddle through it to get the job, and when I brought it back in, they were still confused as to the cause of it. My A/C still makes noises, but I will never bring my car back to Orange Auto. read more

DISHONEST CROOK // STAY AWAY Just a read a recent review with a similar experience. I gave the guy my car with the security light and locked key/no start symptoms. I told him all of the issues I was having and that the ECU that was in the car probably wasn't programmed properly when replaced. He said he can fix it, he looked confident he could do so. He notifies me my car is fixed and ready. I travel an hour to get to his shop and he tells me "the check engine light is still on". I'm wildly confused because the check engine light wasn't on when I gave it to him. He proceeds to tell me that it was. I actually have a code reader myself and when trying to diagnose the initial problem checked for CEL codes. At this point he's still asking for payment. The car did start, but this was an intermittent problem, as told. He proceeds to tell me the reason my car is messed up is because of the engine light, not the ECM, and I shouldn't have changed that, EVEN THO MY ISSUE WAS THE ECM! I never had a Check Engine Light on in the first place. He also proceeds to tell me that the last ECM was fine but it just wasn't programmed (He had the ability to just program that one for less) Only to 5min later say he didn't check the old ECM at all. He was spinning all over the place to absolve any responsibility SINA, then offers a wager... IF he puts the old ECM back in and the check engine light is still on, I owe him an additional $150. If it doesn't come back on, then I guess "oh well, all is good now!" So to make his customers rest assured he says "you better be right or you're fee is out the wazoo" He typed a generic invoice up that also doesn't explicitly mention a check engine light, like any other shop would for liability reasons..and didn't even have my correct license plate on it. We both inspected the car at the time of delivery, and I verbally mentioned just the security light being on. HERE'S THE KICKER!! MY CAR RAN FOR 24HOURS AND THEN BACK TO IT'S ORIGINAL STATE Not to mention his POS machine doesn't work so I was forced to give him cash, so now no real financial record. Wow, can you say " Unprofessional " ? I am almost shocked at how rude the owner of this place was to me. But having received bad service at automotive places before I wasn't too moved. So my buddy tells me that he has a coupon for a free oil change at this joint which is about 5 minutes form where I work. I get there and am greeted by an older man. " An oil change? " he grunts... you'll have to leave it, come back in a few hours.." Even though the garage was empty, I shrugged and started walking. About minute into my stroll I remembered that I left my sunglasses in my truck, so I walked back and into the garage (unbeknownst to the owner dude) and asked the mechanic if I could retrieve my shades. He says, yeah go ahead- " It'll only be about 15 minutes " Well I decided to wait and after about 20 minutes the dude shuts my hood and says I'm good. I walked back into the service desk and was met with a surprised grimace from the owner.... Owner: Yes?? Alain: My car is done... Owner: What? Alain: Yeah.. Owner: (They) called you?! Alain: No- I waited, your mechanic said it was only going to be 15 minutes, so I waited... Owner: (Abruptly turns and walks away into the garage) Owner to Mechanic: ( What did you...@#@??%^!.. to that guy?! ) Owner: (muffled) more harsh words.... A minute later I see my truck stopping suddenly in front of the office, the owner gets out, comes over and throws my keys onto the counter and grunts a " thunk you " at me. I can't help but wonder what they would have done to my car in those extra 2 hours while they had my car. Of course I'm merely speculating, but I have to ask why he wanted to keep my truck longer. Perhaps to dig further and find more things that " Should be replaced " ? I'm no mechanic, but I do know jack shit about cars, and even though I could have changed my own oil, I will never come here again unless it's to tell that dude what a prick he was. When my car's radiator broke down on the freeway, it became inconvenient and headache! I managed to arrive an auto shop in Savi Ranch in Yorba Linda where was closest to me. Guess what? That auto shop shamelessly quoted me almost $4000! I refused to be RIP-OFF! Having called Orange Auto Center, I was told by Jim that they could fix my car. I did understand final quote could not be provided until an inspection was done. I managed to drive my broken car about 10 miles to Orange Auto Center where I trusted. Abe is quite an intimidating and arrogant man. If you are female, he'll treat you like you are less than him, and completely stupid about cars. They waisted 3 weeks of my days off, running me up a huge bill, and kept secrets to a lot of things done with my car. When he messed with the wheels, it stopped driving correctly, because he never even bothered to balance the tires. Now, I have a truck that runs bad, doesn't drive properly, and I'm beyond frustrated. This most recent time, he got in my face to intimidate me, and left my keys unattended, so anyone could have taken my truck. I recommend you try somewhere else. read more

I had taken my car to the Audi dealer where I was told that an axle in the car was broken and they could not replace it without removing the transmission which amounted to a $16,000 repair. Naturally, the car was not under warranty. I was beside myself when a friend suggested that I take the car to Orange Auto Center. Well, I found nirvana! These guys were amazing. They diagnosed the problem immediately. The car had no axle problem, no transmission problem and no $16,000 problem. In fact, the only issue was that it had the wrong tires on it for a that model sports car. That day they ordered and installed the correct tires, at a discount, and I was good to go for under $800.
