They did apologize for any inconveniences we had and will address the issues with their staff. They offered to provide some gift certificates to return to their restaurant. We love this restaurant! My family has been going to this place for years. Food is always delicious and at a reasonable price. One complaint: the lights over the booths are at just the right height that they irritate the eyes. They can literally make your eyes water. We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday tonight. There were 12 of us and we had a wonderful time. What a beautiful view!!! I ordered the ribeye and it was flavorful and juicy. Took the wife here last night for a nice romantic birthday dinner. Our reservations were at 7:15pm so she could enjoy the amazing view and sunset. Cutting short the commentary i'm just going to get to the point. SERVICE: servers, waiters, etc. were all super kind and professional. it is truly a welcoming atmosphere to be in. FOOD: wife ordered the New York steak and I the Salmon. Both entrees were truly cooked to perfection. The steak was done medium and was very tender and flavorful, the Salmon was a generous proportion and was flaky and flavorful with the lemon butter sauce. We both had the garlic mashed potatoes to go with our entrees. UNFORTUNATELY that's were the good reviews stop for this place. Our appetizer was the Artichoke with lemon and butter to dip in. Presentation was awful! It looked like someone had stepped on the artichoke and then invoked the 3 second rule and placed it in the oven to bake. SECOND they have an all you can eat soup and salad bar that comes with all the dinner entrees. the 12 or so prepared salads like Tuna salad, Greek salad, Pasta salad, Cucumber salad, etc. were very bland soggy and no spark or freshness to them. but on the other side they had a build your own salad so that was at least a little better. I wont comment on the soup since i didn't have any. AND FINALLY DESSERT we shared the cheesecake with strawberry sauce. Without tooting my horn too much I am a foodie and I can bake a seriously mean cheesecake, what was served here is something that is lacking richness, density, and overall cheesecake flavor. Me and the Mrs. usually don't agree on anything when it comes to food but we both thought there was a distinctive weird taste in the cheesecake that was unsettling (perhaps too much flour or baking powder or something) Would I come back again? possibly since they have decent entrees and a lovely view but I am in no rush. read more

This place lost stars simply by not acting appropriately to matters that required a response. First of all, this was a very special event so my boyfriend drove seven hours to be here for this special dinner. He was tired and hungry so he was understandably upset when his ribeye arrived and it was nearly well done! He had ordered it medium rare. How does that happen? Seriously. There's a big difference between medium rare and well done. Our waitress acted very blasé about the whole thing. Not good because my boyfriend is a waiter and he told her that this situation warranted notifying a manager. She just blew the conversation off, laughed and continued serving others. Fifteen minutes later, my boyfriend's steak arrived. Well by then, he had lost his appetite and only ate a couple of bites. Between the discrepancy in the cooking of a meal and the waitresses careless and non-helpful attitude it ruined the mood of our joyful event. Everyone felt uncomfortable eating while my boyfriend had no food and he was upset because it was not handled properly. I will not be returning. I realize it was one meal and one waitress but our hard earned money could be better spent elsewhere. I sent the restaurant a message via open table where I booked the reservation and have yet to hear back from them, thus the honest but negative review. Not responding to my legitimate complaint tells me they could care less how their customers are treated and they do not value their reputation. Bad business. Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We had a really nice time. Both our cocktail waitress and our regular waitress were very nice and attentive. Our dinner was amazing. The view is to die for. The patio does get crowded as does the bar if you're looking to spend some time in either of those places. We had a table next to the window and the night couldn't have been better. Baseball game on tv held us over for a while before the bartender finally greeted us by saying he'll serve us in 3-4 minutes. The first time I went here was probably about 10 years ago with a group of family friends. I really wasn't too sure what to expect, but the location was definitely interesting to say the least. The restaurant sits on the side of the hill so getting up there and down at night since this is mainly at dinner time restaurant is slightly difficult, but completely worth it. The restaurant is a lot larger than it may look like since they have multiple levels sprawling out. The bartenders are always very friendly and they have very well-stocked bar. While the wine choices aren't extensive, most are reasonably priced and well paired to the food that they offer. I couldn't believe that they actually have an outdoor seating area that is on the very edge of a large hill. If you go to dinner at the right time, you can actually see the fireworks from Disneyland, Angel Stadium, and the Honda Center. Absolutely breathtaking! Wait staff works hard every night, and while sometimes your food does take a little while to prepare, I've never had a single item off of the menu there was anything less than perfection. You never ever feel rushed by wait staff. They stay out of sight, but are always there when needed. If you're looking for a place to drop in for a very quick bite to eat, not to say that you can't get a quick meal here but the atmosphere and the attitude is take you time and enjoy. Great to unwind with friends. My ONLY qualm about this place......Pretty much every meal that you get comes with a soup and a salad...served at all-you-can-eat buffet type salad bar...The pricing of the meals would suggest that the restaurant is moderately upscale. The waiters and waitresses dress like old-fashioned miners (flannel with suspenders and jeans) which also fits the unfinished Rocky interior...But personally I kind of think that for the quality of the food and the price point you're paying, A buffet type soup and salad bar may not be what people are expecting. While I'm sure that set up work very well for their Sunday brunch... I think some people would feel that for the price of the meal that they're paying that these things would maybe follow that upscale feel....meaning, maybe offer the same unlimited soup and salads...just served by staff.... like I said I've been coming here for 10 years... This is never stopped me from coming here... And it never will stop me from making this my regular place. read more

I went several times to this place 20 years ago and it was very good. My daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday here so I called and made reservations for 5 at 6pm. At 3:00 I called back and needed to change the number of guests to 7. I was told with a very snotty attitude that I could only up the number to 6 otherwise I could only make a reservation at 5:15 or 8 for a party of 7 or more. I was told to call back at 4:30 and talk to a manager at 4:30 to see if I could be "accommodated" at 6 with that number. I then went on Yelp and found out that they have a terrible reputation now. We decided to skip calling the manager and booked reservations at The Ranch Restaurant in Orange. Now our party is a party of 10 and we are more than willing to spend our money at a restaurant that doesn't give us an attitude. Sorry to see an iconic restaurant turn into a bore. read more

Came here for dinner because i was in the steak mood, ordered the filet minion medium rare and for the for time in a long time it actually came out medium rare! Thank goodness! No needed it to take it back because it's over well done. Every entree came with a salad bar and soup.. When our table was called, we hadn't closed out yet and had yet to get our appetizer. I thought it odd no one offered to carry the app to the table. My coworker and I wanted to have a nice Christmas dinner so we went to Orange County Mining Co last Thursday and the food quality fell short. I ordered chicken and ribs. The chicken breast was so small it looked like half of a chicken breast and it was way over cooked because it was rubbery and my ribs were a joke! The ribs were ALL bone, I was so disappointed I could have had a better meal at home for a quarter of the price. My friends steak was over cooked too and he was so over it too! Anyways the only thing nice was the view that's it! Do they have cooks or chef's? Sad either way! Go to Orange Hills peeps, it may cost you a little more but at least it will be worth it!! read more

My husband and I have been to the bar here three times (two of those times while waiting for a table), and to the restaurant twice for dinner on a weekend evening, both with nice experiences, both times on a weekend night without reservations, however they are very accommodating, which is probably why we attempted it the second time, positive reinforcement, we'll never learn now. We are so last minute. Time spent in the bar has been pleasant with prompt and attentive service, available seating even on a weekend night, friendly servers, good drinks. I personally love their Old Fashioned. In the restaurant, both times we have happened to be served by Ryan; he's funny and friendly, he does a good job. I often try to remember server's names and typically fail, but he has my ex-husband's name, so I remembered; it's not his fault, though. ;) The salad bar has a good selection, some nice alternatives to basic salad, the soups are decent. This past visit we had the BBQ ribs and the rib eye; both were enjoyable and tender, the rib eye was prepared nicely, medium rare as I requested, we both had mashed potatoes, they were very mashed potatoe-y. Random observation: The valet staff this past visit were nice and efficient; it was pouring rain this past Friday, and they did not make us wait, and they use the curbstand app to pay, which is lovely for people like us who show up with not-cash. We ate Thanksgiving lunch (2017) here. Big buffet with a set price. Buffet had typical Thanksgiving: turkey, dressing, sweet potato, mashed potato, salad, pies etc. They also had tamales, enchiladas, tacos, guacamole, etc. There was a carving tray with ham and roast beef. The Salad area had peel and eat shrimp and Alaskan crab legs. Man I get stuffed just writing about it. Everything was great except for the tacos. Tacos were more like Jack-in-box tacos. So I pushed the taco aside and had an enormously satisfying Thanksgiving feast without the clean-up mess. This was an excellent outing for our family. Also, view of the valley is great. read more

A little late on this review, but I finally have the time to write this. I came here at the end of January 2017 for my cousin's 30th birthday dinner. From what I can remember it was really good. They didn't get 5 stars due to the amount of wait time before we actually got our food. Granted, there were 20 of us, but still, if a restaurant claims to have the ability to accommodate large dinner parties then they should be able to get us seated and fed rather quickly. Especially a large party with a reservation. Especially for the amount of money they charge. I ordered the Steak (cooked medium) and it was exactly how I like it. Juicy and flavorful! Some may think it's too red, but I love my steaks like this, more flavor. My wife had the chicken and she thought it was just good, nothing breath taking. The mash potatoes of course were good, and the scenery there was beautiful. Especially on a winter night. Good place over all. I almost never leave any reviews, but it was so bad tonight that I hope others won't experience what we went through today. We came here on 2/22 to celebrate our friend's birthday, all are first-timers except for me. Friends stumbled across their current steak and lobster special on their homepage, which is now going for $25. When ordering, my friend even confirmed with the waiter that it's still ongoing. When the bill came, we were charged $66 per plate. We asked the waiter, he said they have another steak and lobster special of $66 and when customers order "special", unless otherwise explicitly specified website special, they can only serve the $66 entrees. He further explains that the manager doesn't like the internet special, so waiters are not allowed to even ask if customers are ordering $25 or $66, which had put him in many difficult situations with his customers in recent past. I made my point clear to him that I can pay for the $66 entree although misinformed, but this scam they pull is not okay and they should just take down the ad. After understanding his fear of breaking the manager's rule, I asked to speak with the manager. So the worst restaurant manager I've encountered yet across all four continents I've travelled to, came to the table with a snide face without saying a word, stood there raising his eyebrow looking at me. I seriously was speechless and gathered he was trying to be difficult. I asked him if he is aware of our confusion, when ordering one thing but only to find out later we were served with a dish with the same name but more than double the price. He quickly and impatiently blamed it all on the poor waiter for not being clear and asked rudely "what did the waiter tell you" "he was being unclear and it's just his fault". I told him the ads should be taken down the internet if they aren't planning to honor it, he said "it's not internet, it is our website" $&&@@&;$&:&);& seriously?? I couldn't believe he was giving me a lecture on the proper terminology being used and completely deflecting from the issue he created at hand. In short, I gave the waiter a big tip, hoping that can somewhat made his night a little better. But to have such blatant rudeness and misinformation thrown in our faces at a supposedly celebratory occasion, this was the first and my worst experience. read more
