    Bar well.

This used to be Pineapple Hill, now called Renz Social House. It's kinda weird though as the WiFi and some other things still around the bar still say Pineapple Hill. That aside, what a great fun place to go to for a casual drink. The bar is kept clean, they have a good selection of alcohol and mixes. One thing of note that may or may not be important to you depending upon what you drink. Excuse the caps but to me this is important... THEY HAVE ACTUAL GINGER ALE IN THE BEVERAGE GUN AT THE BAR!!!!!! There are so many bars that do not carry actual ginger ale, and it pisses me off when I order a bourbon/ginger, or a Jameson/ginger and they put Sprite in with a splash of Coke and a dash of bitters trying to make it as a faux ginger ale. Please don't do that. I have learned to ask what brand of ginger ale do you carry? It's ok if you don't have it, I'll change my drink order, but don't try to pass it off as such, it's nasty and it's deceptive. You don't have to worry about it here. Sorry for the rant. Don't get me wrong, this is NOT a craft cocktail bar, nor is it trying to be. So please do not have that expectation. This place is just what it is and that is just fine for all of us that stop in. Well mixed drinks by a friendly staff with a decent pour on the alcohol. I would like to give a quick shout out to Amber and Jordan who have always been more than kind to myself and anyone that I have brought in for drinks. Service has always been top-notch either at the bar or at one of the many tables. Of note, they do have karaoke on certain nights, please check the website. Not for me, but glad they have it. Not sure if they still have trivia nights but hoping that they do. I haven't had the food there, but it is available and most of the bar patrons that I have discussed it with have said that it's good/decent. Great place for a casual cocktail (Or Three!) Terrific atmosphere and service. I hope that you give them a try. if you are in the neighborhood.

In search of "bars" in the area, Renz (which we'd never noticed in this strip mall before) appeared as an option. Not expecting much, we were pleasantly impressed -- both times now! Even mid-afternoon, the bar top was packed, and the bartenders (both times) single-handedly and impressively served the bar top patrons, as well as the few tables in the bar! Reasonably-priced drinks. Good pours! Comfortable environment. Fun find! We're hoping to land a seat at the bar top next time!

After our party of six chatted over cocktails and preyed on pupus, we moved to a "secret" room tucked in the back of Stowaway and walked into a Belly Of The Beast. The founders and co-owners of Stowaway, Leonard Chan and Dominic Iapello, created this extension to the tiki bar with a wildly interesting Pinocchio theme and the famed encounter with Monstro the whale all the while serving the same offerings in Stowaway but with also an exclusive limited menu just for this adventure. With its proximity to Disneyland and its Enchanted Tiki Room, with the very niche underground-like society of tiki culture they found a consistent customer base and the thrill of island escapism through colorful cocktails, pleasurable pupus, tropical trimmings, and nostalgic know-how. How would my belly handle the beastly drinks concocted here!? PURCHASE(S) Gepetto's Last Words ($16.00): Intrigued by the cocktail's name, this elixir was crafted with Fid Street Gin, tangerine, creme de violette, lemon, and cucumber, it was a citrusy refreshing sweet drink that was decorated with bright yellow petals. It was nice, but for whatever reason it just didn't quite hit the spot. [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($9.00): A decent portion with rings of medium to large sizes, these were hot, dark golden browned, crunchy, and had a slight tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (sweet Maui!) rarely pulled out at times. They were lightly oily while the catsup wasn't needed but used. SERVICE While in Stowaway, we informed our male server to let us know when we were allowed to enter the belly. Once inside and situated, we had the place and bartender to ourselves. After we all perused the menu, we placed our orders, and everything arrived within ten minutes. The rest of the time was spent chatting, picture taking, and our bartender checked in on us also giving a Dole Whip taster. All was casual, chill, and somewhat on island time - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (FREE): They shared a medium-sized private lot with several other businesses who were closed at this time with plenty of spots - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE "Hidden" inside Stowaway which was located within a strip mall, the entire theme was based on the Pinocchio story, the interlude in time spent inside Monstro, and as we entered it felt like the beginning of the Disneyland "Storybook" ride as you road a canal boat into the mouth and sharp teet of a whale. There were several marionettes (appropriate and non-appropriate) that hung from the ceiling and belly walls, along with other Disneyesque memorabilia, a few sitting booths, and a tiny bar at the end of the roo. No natural lighting whatsoever while an assortment of extremely low-lit electric lights and table candles glowed. There were no TVs while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Although I was actually dressed appropriately for the occasion in an aloha shirt, linen pants, and flip-flops, this place was totally casual, so a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops would suffice. OVERALL Belly Of The Beast was an adventurous fun evening with friends, it left me feeling childlike with the need to watch "Pinocchio", and I couldn't wait to return to try more of their awesome-soundling elixirs. I generally loved all-things Disneyana, and this new wrinkle, albeit probably not approved by the mouse ears brass, caught my fancy. My one drink was tasty but just didn't hit the right spot, the onion rings were very good, the prices were a tad elevated, the atmosphere was awesome, and the service was friendly and professional. They had an extremely limited menu, and there was some doubt whether or not ordering from the Stowaway menu was an option. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $27.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

When you go thru the sliding doors it immediately transports you to a different time and place. Its very dark. Sleek. And modern. Yet simple. I love the big screen tvs with areal views of New York. It just made it feel like we were in a high rise building or a blimp with a birds eye view of many of New Yorks beautiful landmarks. The couches were extremely comfortable too. Great cushion. You just sink into them. Its a small area but great utilization of the space, making it seem large and spacious. The chairs too were really comfortable to sit in. We spent 3 hours in there and it flew by so quickly. The ambiance and feel here was just truly top notch. Our waitress was Brandy, or is it Brandi? She was super cool. She was a one person crew. Basically getting orders, making drinks, cleaning tables, and checking in on us. And she did it with great charisma, attitude and personality. Super knowledgeable about the menu. Made great drinks quickly. And was just super personable. Great job from her!! Her attitude and demeanor really matched the top tier aura they were going for here. They have a great selection of drinks. From more alcohol forward drinks to light and fruity drinks to refreshing drinks. I really did enjoy their drink selections. We had a total of about 6 drinks and they were all really good! We got there: 1. Fox's wedding- light, seeet and refreshing. I love the origami piece that Brandy put on it as well. Looked so beauitful. 2. Guava chiffon pancake- it was tropical, light but also had a coconut feel to it. It was really good. 3. The Monroe- this was light but tart, but not too tart. Silky with fruit forward notes. 4. Miso honey butter corn- rarely is a savory cocktail good. But this one was pretty good. The butter fat washed burbon was super intriguing. But it works well 5. When pigs fly- came with a paper airplane on top!! Haha. Love the playfulness. But the drink was so complex yet smooth. It was really good. For the bourbon drinkers, this one is for you! 6. Smoked Old Fashion- presentation is amazing. Comes in a big glass case that has cherry wood smoke inside. When you open it, you get that intense smell of burning cherry wood. Drink is smokey but in a very good way. Tasted amazing. A true classic done right. Their food menu is very encompassing and thorough as well. From full on burgers, to flat breads, to appetizers and small bites, to salads. They have a little of everything!! We ordered the following: 1. Pub nachos- this was an extremely large plate of loaded nachos. Super crunchy and fresh. I loved the generous amount of Chipotle chicken on top. The pepper jack queso sauce and jalapeño crema was a really good sauce. It just binded everything together. The beans and the fresh jalapeño just really all worked together. It was super good. Kept you grazing and munching away, but never becoming too full (more room for their drinks!!). 2. Figgy piggy flat bread- it was ok. Sweet caramel onions and fig jam, paired with some pungent cheeses. I thought it was pretty good. 3. Shrimp street tacos- 1 order comes with 2 tacos. They were good sizes. I love their tacos. So flaverful. Everything works together. Just tasted amazing!! Overall everything about this place is 5 stars. The ambiance, the decor, the exclusivity. The service. The drinks and the food. As i said 3 hours went by so fast!! Definitely a must try when in the area. And when you stay at the Marriott, its just a simple walk back to your room. And we left feeling happy and amazing. Thank you very much Brandy!!

I was lucky enough to stumble across this gem of the center of OC when they first opened - and I am proud to be a regular here. I don't know how to go somewhere else - because I feel like the staff are giant gems in this jewel of a spot. Winters is a curator of boozy information that has helped me learn about "gin" and "root beer whiskey" so I can sound like an adult-ish purveyor, when really I know close to nothing except being a willing student to his creations. Dan the Man and Jacob always see me raise my hand in the corner of the bar, like the student I am, and have been willing to fill in the blanks for me when I know I am of thirst, but do not have the words for what to order. Every person working in the well has treated me with kindness - they have taken the time to get to know me, and I will be forever appreciative of how they have taken care of me over the years. But the real joy has been the transformation that this spot has for building a community of people in Santa Ana for real recognizing real. I have been bringing my Dad with me to play pool for the past few years. Sometimes people ask me if he plays professionally, I am terrible, and my skill incline is slow, he is patient and plays with the same level craftiness that the staff offer the cocktails. My Dad is always stoked when we have time to go have a few hours of games at 616 - especially now that there are regulars on 4th street that are excited to see that he is there playing - and they rush to write their names on the chalkboard to challenge him - or beat him in a game they really earned the W. On lazy Sundays, I watch couples sit with their drink, listening to Jazz, and watching my Dad whoop my ass while making amazing shots. I am forever grateful to Memo who sometimes takes a break from his shift behind the bar to give my dad an actual challenge - which allows me the chance to watch my Dad enjoy fellowship around the table. Knowing the table was a relic of the bars former self, and knowing the history that this spot has in Santa Ana is a reminder that so much around us can change - but it is those moments of the crack of the rack, the cheer of getting the combo shot, and the shake of hands when it's over that shows that it's not just about the pool table - but about the energy of a place that is welcoming and curated by people who care about what they do - and care about who comes through their doors. Thank you Jason and Mike B to bringing this to 4th St and supporting the community that was already here - and for building a community for the future. Thank you to Christina and Brandon for always having amazing pictures, decor, and fun events at 616 that help introduce new folks into this great spot. Time is short. Learn about Root Beer Whiskey. They have tons of parking in this shopping center. They share it with TONS of other places. One of my BFFs saw this on an Instagram video and wanted to check it out. *They do take reservations When we came in we checked in with one of the waitresses. She said she would seat us in a minute. To be honest, she did forget about us. A waiter walked up to us and asked us what was going on (we were standing there for around 7 - 10 minutes) and we told him we had a reservation for the speakeasy. He immediately apologized and sat us. This camp themed speakeasy has a couple booths. It's on the smaller sides. Which, speakeasy's are usually small to begin with. I did not get the waitresses name, my friend and I were busy catching up. The waitress was nice, but not attentive. I will say service was a 2/5. However, the actual restaurant, cozy pine is located in, was packed because of the World Cup being on TV. So I definitely was not going to complain The food Our food order did come out extremely FAST. The decor of the place looks exactly the same as before withe a very similar menu, full of American food but they did add some Mediterranean Items. They do also host events like live musical performances or rent out the entire space for private events from the sign. We came recently to watch a World Cup game on the multiple TV's near the bar area. They do have one large TV mounted on the side which is a combination of like 9 TVs but the picture quality was OK since the screens were abit dated with washed out colors with some dead pixels. We did get a full spread of food and drinks including beers and cocktails. They do have a wide variety of beers on tap BUT a majority are sold out so do ask or have a backup choice! The cocktails were tasty and standard for a sports bar. Our favor was the strawberry margarita but you can't really go wrong with any of the margaritas since they were standard recipes and flavors. They are slightly on the stronger side too! The food we got was a very pretty good for a sport bar: Hawawshi - Stuffed Pita Bread: grilled Pita bread stuffed with seasoned ground beef with onion and jalapenos served with tahini sauce. This is very tasty with the well seasoned ground beef paired with the tahini sauce and great for sharing. Shawarma Chicken Sandwich - This one was unexpected since it was wrapped in a tortilla wrap instead of the usual Pita bread so was more like a chicken burrito? The flavor was good with very tender sliced chicken paired with the garlic sauce, tomato, onions and tzatiki sauce too. Shawarma Fries: fries topped with beef or chicken shawarma , tomato , onion, parsley, feta cheese , cheddar cheese and tahini sauce. We got the beef and this was definitely the favorite of the table. This takes all the flavors of shawarma and puts it on some thick crispy fries and goes perfect with beers/cocktails. The one big issue at this place is the service is very slow since they are very short staffed! So everything from ordering, to drink to food delivery is extremely slow especially on a packed day like a World Cup game day. We waited a good 20-30 minutes before our first round of beers came and about 30 minutes for the food. It was obvious on the timing since it was way pass the first hydration break almost till halftime before we even started drinking! Overall, an OK place to hangout with friends to watch a sporting event but just don't expect fast service. They need to either hire more servers or they will lose repeat customers for future events.
