So haven't been back since my last terrible karaoke experience over 3 years ago and left a 1 star review. I remember someone reached out from the business saying things have changed and got a new KJ thats better and should give it another go. Well 3+ years later I gave it another chance with a group hoping for improvement but instead the experience is just as bad. The sound is terrible. Mics kept cutting in and out and only half the speakers were actually working. Its sad bc there were some really good singers who were pretty much singing without a working mic. I let the KJ (some old white bald guy with a goatee) know and he had this IDGAF response and didnt do anything. The icing on the cake was me buying drinks and waiting for over an hour to get to my song when I noticed I was passed over for people who signed up after me. I let the KJ know to check and he has me on the bottom of the list like I never moved. I explained how I was waiting over an hour and he began to get defensive and tell me basically he cant trust what I say and doesnt remember me. If dude was doing his job properly this wouldn't happen. How hard is it to go down a signup sheet in order. Its crazy. KJ was also bartending and cleaning tables. I dont know if hes the owner or just carrying many hats but man he sucks. Long story short had to get my peoples to vouch for me and he finally let me sing my 1 song disgruntledly. Man Im never coming back. So many more professional & organized karaoke bars in south OC. Its sad this place is such a disaster for karaoke. The vibe from the patrons are great too. Advice to management/owner: 1. Spend a few hundred bucks and fix your karaoke system. If this was Asian-owned it would have never been an issue because Asians take their karaoke seriously. 2. Get another KJ and get rid of the bald old white dude with the goatee. He is an unhappy person who doesn't like his job and it shows. 1 Star! read more

Some friends recommended coming here after hanging out at a brewery for some karaoke. I would call this bar an oldies dive bar vibe kind of bar. They were definitely playing music from the 70s/80s, but the DJ did throw in some new generation music, like Kendrick Lamar. The vibe in here is also not the young crowd, but I do love how friendly everyone is here. The bartenders are absolutely amazing! So kind, so fun, love them! It was pretty full on a Friday night at around 11pm, and while it's not totally for me, I can see others enjoying it for their country and old school music vibes. This bar is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall with a large parking lot. Also drinks are very good here. I asked for something sweet, and the bartender 100% delivered. This used to be Pineapple Hill, now called Renz Social House. It's kinda weird though as the WiFi and some other things still around the bar still say Pineapple Hill. That aside, what a great fun place to go to for a casual drink. The bar is kept clean, they have a good selection of alcohol and mixes. One thing of note that may or may not be important to you depending upon what you drink. Excuse the caps but to me this is important... THEY HAVE ACTUAL GINGER ALE IN THE BEVERAGE GUN AT THE BAR!!!!!! There are so many bars that do not carry actual ginger ale, and it pisses me off when I order a bourbon/ginger, or a Jameson/ginger and they put Sprite in with a splash of Coke and a dash of bitters trying to make it as a faux ginger ale. Please don't do that. I have learned to ask what brand of ginger ale do you carry? It's ok if you don't have it, I'll change my drink order, but don't try to pass it off as such, it's nasty and it's deceptive. You don't have to worry about it here. Sorry for the rant. Don't get me wrong, this is NOT a craft cocktail bar, nor is it trying to be. So please do not have that expectation. This place is just what it is and that is just fine for all of us that stop in. Well mixed drinks by a friendly staff with a decent pour on the alcohol. I would like to give a quick shout out to Amber and Jordan who have always been more than kind to myself and anyone that I have brought in for drinks. Service has always been top-notch either at the bar or at one of the many tables. Of note, they do have karaoke on certain nights, please check the website. Not for me, but glad they have it. Not sure if they still have trivia nights but hoping that they do. Used to be cozy, fun, and the epicenter of all the happy people in the surrounding cities. Had come years ago and had a great time. Now, it lighted like a hospital cafeteria. Cold with the smell of death of old people. Furniture is cold, uninviting, and not cozy. The booze tastes watered down. The coke tastes like alkaline seltzer. The bathrooms got remodeled but the toilet seat is rickety barely hanging on, and I couldn't reach around to tighten the bolts to make sitting down stable. I tried. I don't recommend anyone on earth ever buying that type of toilet seat. I recommend not having lighting fixtures from 1967. Pick anything with an amber lens. Buy a dimmer. Next, if you're gonna hang paper cut- outs of pineapples...then actually put pineapple air fresheners and ditch whatever weird air freshener contraptions someone sold you. Or at least put pineapple inserts in the air filters in the machines themselves. I dunno what's up with the copper decor but it makes the sound clang off the walls. Ditch it for sound dampening material. Any interior designer will concur. I used to love coming here. I dunno what you were thinking on the redesign. Very nice place, they have all types of beers the price is amazing, it's never super crowded you don't have to wait hours for a drink, restrooms are clean and also pretty much available must of the time, they have a cool karaoke, lots of space, there is always available tables. The place is getting real tired: fast! Seems to have slowly gone down hill since the remodel. Before, they had a great menu with a lot of good tasting and quality items on it. It also had the 'divey bar' vibe we liked. Everybody we took there liked it. Kept us coming back. Last time there my buddy got the lettuce cups and the lettuce was old and limp. He asked for more lettuce and it came back the same way. I had a burger and it was average at best The servers and chef are nice. The drinks are okay. It seems like it's in its death null. Went to a holiday party here and had a great time. Servers and bartenders were friendly and the food was better than your average bar menu. Karaoke sign up and music choices were all done through a QR code which was super easy. Cozy little dining areas gave our party a separated feeling that made us comfortable and relaxed. read more

In search of "bars" in the area, Renz (which we'd never noticed in this strip mall before) appeared as an option. Not expecting much, we were pleasantly impressed -- both times now! Even mid-afternoon, the bar top was packed, and the bartenders (both times) single-handedly and impressively served the bar top patrons, as well as the few tables in the bar! I had come here a handful of times pre-Covid when it was under a different name (and I think different ownership). It had the cheapest drinks and a very mixed crowd of all ages and backgrounds. I am pretty introverted and do not participate in the karaoke, but oh em gee, you would be amazed by the talent that shows up here. This place still has a similar vibe, but the crowd seems to be mostly middle aged. The talent is still showing up, although, I don't recognize the faces or voices. Drinks are more but still reasonably priced. The part that kills me is they renovated it to look more modern and it kind of looks cheaply done. Someone mentioned they were on "Bar Rescue" a bar renovation reality show and to be honest, nothing should have been changed other than raising their prices if the business was in trouble. New staff seems interesting. I took a seat at the bar and instead of being asked what I want to drink, the bartender told me that I was in someone else's seat. I'm sorry, that's not how bar stools work. If someone leaves and doesn't come back or doesn't leave a personal item, then that seat is now free. I thought her behavior was a little odd, but perhaps he was a personal friend. The other bartender was a little more friendly. read more

excellent food, wonderful, bartenders, wonderful atmosphere, great location, definitely LGBT friendly for all you LGBT people out there, I know because I use the bathroom of my choice and they don't care. There is an amazing DJ for the karaoke, who doesn't just know how to properly run the music equipment, so everybody hears the vocals, but he also tends to jump in every now and then and sing himself and he's amazing. Sometimes even his mom comes in and sings and she is just as amazing. The people that come to this bar always seem like they're very high class because this bar doesn't seem to attract creeps and stuff like that. I love how even when they have the party atmosphere going, somehow they still managed to keep the calm low light mood. So you have the lights going and keeping everything up to beat an energetic, but you have areas that are nice, calm and low lit so people who don't want to join in the musical adventures, can just relax with their drink and watch from a distance. And the place is always so well kept clean. I sometimes don't feel like this is a bar. It reminds me of my mother's bar at home. clean, tidy and a wonderful place to visit. I haven't been there in a while due to life events, but I just returned last night and I was so glad to see that nothing had changed. Everything was the same wonderful experience I remembered from before. I didn't have the courage to get up and sing like I used to because there were a lot of people there last night so I panicked lol but I loved just sitting there and sipping on my drink, eating some wonderful food from their wonderful cook, and listening to people belt out awesome 80s tunes. And the food, don't get me going on that food, it is amazing. Last night I had the tacos, they call them tacos, but tacos are like Del taco. Over here the food feels home cooked. Oh my goodness I loved the Middle Eastern style bread They used that was flaky and soft with the really tender chicken and the roasted vegetables mixed together. Oh my goodness it was amazing. Felt like going home and having dinner with mom. There was no sign of fast food in there at all. It's all made with love. I've had their burgers before, and they are juicy big, and just mouthwatering delicious. The beef melts between the buns. Their fries, while In-N-Out has limpy spaghetti for french fries, this place has crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. You can't get better fries than that. It literally feels like they chopped the potatoes themselves. Maybe they probably did lol. I love this place. When I'm in the mood to just relax, this is where I go. and those wonderful, lovely bartenders, each one is so kind with a sibling like attitude. I didn't realize how close to the employee area entrance I was standing, and when I realized that, I apologized and the bartenders just shrugged it off, understanding that I didn't mean any harm and I didn't mean to be in the way. They are such sweet, friendly people. If you start a chat with them, they will happily sit and chat with you if they are not busy doing their work or they will chat with you while they are doing their work. That's how you know they love their job. That's how you know they love their community. Last night because they were a lot of people, the food was a little slower to come out and the bartender and the chef apologized because there were a lot of orders to make and I love that, not because they apologized. No, I loved it because they were humble and they showed that they really do care about everyone of their customers. So just like the bartender did with me, I shrugged it off and reminded them that they are amazing. And it was worth the weight because when the food came, it was hot, it was fresh, and it hit the spot. Stay awesome. read more

Hands down THEE best hot chicken sandwich in SoCal. Chef Julian knows that when crisp, tender flavor and curated seasoning come together on a brioche style bun; you get perfection. We are Nashville transplants and this sandwich makes me super PROUD! He took the concept and made it his own without abandoning the original inspiration. I have lived near this place since 2003 and remember when this location was the Pineapple Grill, hence the name has changed since Taffer and Bar Rescue. Anyways, I finally made it in yesterday morning 12/10/2023 with a friend of mine. Drinks were spot on. Service was excellent! The bartender handled everything by herself for a room about 20 or so people watching NFL football. However, the kitchen on a Sunday did not open until around 11:45 or so kind of late for Sunday football. The food however was excellent. I had the vegetarian flatbread it was a very good selection. I found myself in Tustin waiting as my dog was seeing a specialist up the street. I needed a place to go kill a few hours instead of waiting in the hot car or freezing animal hospital. Quick Yelp search and Renz was the closest. I was hoping for a real good dirty dive bar. And if you are familiar with your bars you can tell this place probably use to be a great dirty dive bar. But it is very inviting, comfortable and super clean! The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Don't worry ladies it's mostly business guys of some sort coming in for happy hour 1-2 drinks, need a few cold ones after working in the elements construction workers, or widowers rolling in for their early dinner special. If you like Kareoke and laid back friendly staff, this is the place for you. The drinks are well made and priced fairly. The people who gravitate towards this place seem to be super talented so it's enjoyable entertainment. Parking is plenty and I was able to Lyft home and leave my car overnight without a problem. The best part is that they do not tolerate bad behavior. A group of 30 came in and one was really combative with the bartender. They sent the girl away even though it meant losing all 30 in the party. I was impressed that they put their company culture over profit. This place is a gem. read more

Recent bartender changes were the best thing that ever happened to this place, surprised it took so long really. Anyone who's been coming here for any period of time knows that the owner should hire a foxy middle-aged GM with experience, no offense to Linda. On occasion you'll get paid attention to, usually by the OG's like Bridgette or Kayla now that Deva's is on pause. Despite the former raw wood structure out front, this spot popped off a LOT MORE when we were able to smoke on the patio... (and bring our dogs right Max?) Come here close to every Friday. One of the best karaoke's that I have seen in this area. The karaoke DJ is amazing. You usually have to get here early if you want to sing 2 to 3 songs. There is a big locals following here and these guys can sing. Draft is reasonably priced, and you can get a great buzz while singing your butt off. Unfortunately I have not tried their food but for bar experience and karaoke I highly recommend the spot. read more

I'm pleased to report that Renz, formerly known as Pineapple Hill Grill, is back in action after a longish COVID hiatus. This is a lunch place for me. Today I had a very nice half sandwich and soup combination that really hit the spot washed down by my usual. It was also nice to reconnect with one of my favorite bartenders and with a couple of lunch time regulars. Don't get hung up on the name change. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." I heard that Pineapple Hill, now Renz Social House had reopened after the COVID shutdown in OC. So I stopped in to say "Hi". They used the time they were closed to do some big upgrades. The best thing is they updated the bathrooms! They are absolutely gorgeous! They redid the floors and just added the finishing touches to the updates that were made earlier this year. Because of social distancing rules, capacity is a little lower, but its a great place to hang out, enjoy a cocktail (or mocktail in my case) and meet with friends. read more

I've lived in Tustin for 13 years so I can say that I have frequented this place, as Pineapple Hill of course, quite a few times. I liked Pineapple Hill! It was old, it smelled a little, and the sound system for karaoke was terrible. But, there was always a cool mix of locals, the food was decent, and the bartenders and staff were always awesome. Upon visiting last night, I just feel that the place has lost a little of its magic. There was a nice mix of people there, karaoke was sounding great, and Fendi was making amazing drinks, as always. I didn't mind the new decor. It had sort of a British Colonial / Indian Bungalow vibe with a hipster twist. They even had cool new pineapple cups for some of the mixed drinks. And....it all just seemed so out of place. I have used a lot of words to describe Tustin in my days here and hipster has never been one of them. I do appreciate progress and updates are appreciated, but I feel like the people that updated this place (Bar Rescue) never took the time to learn about the area or any of the people in it. My biggest criticism would have to be the food. The menu was so limited and very expensive. We had the hush puppies which were more crab cake than hush puppy. You got three for $13.00. They were good but not that good. My friend and I had two drinks and an appetizer and the grand total was around $31. Nope! For all it was, Pineapple Hill was a pretty nice neighborhood bar with decent food, cheap drinks, ok karaoke and trivia, and fun locals. Renz Social House is a cool facade slapped on the old interior. I didn't stay close to home in Tustin for cool and expensive. I'll go to Newport for that. Ahh I love the karaoke crowd here! Ren's is a nicely sized restaurant and karaoke nights are the best. The bartenders are kind, but do keep in mind it gets busy here! Patience goes a long way. The MC is a great singer and keeps the pace going for karaoke. Never had an issue here with ridiculously long restroom lines, so that's a plus for me! Tip your bartenders and tip your MC. read more
