Celebrated at Orange Grill my father's 80s birthday. We closed the restaurant for 65 guests. This is not our first celebration at Orange Grill, and, as always, the restaurant staff went above and beyond. Our guests were raving about food that was abundant, which is typical for Russian night clubs, but also sophisticated, delicious and creative, which is hard to find. There was a waiter assigned to each table to provide continuous and attentive service to every guest, and we were particularly grateful to the two managers who were personable, supportive, and anticipated or immediately responded to our every need and whim! Very disappointed with the management of this restaurant. First off there's a mandatory $3 tip for each coat check. They said we have to check in our coats. My friends said its cold and he insisted we have to check our coats. Then when we went to pick up our cars from valet, again another mandatory $10 charge for the supposedly free valet parking. We all felt robbed. We all said we will come back until encounter with the ridiculous charges. They definitely lost us as customers. read more

What a terrible experience!! Came here on a Wednesday night with family to celebrate a birthday and the restaurant was empty. Staff was not accommodating and didn't even fake a smile. I asked a few times for a larger table to accommodate our group of 12, and instead of combining tables right away our waiter replied that we would fit into the table that typically sits 9. WTH?? There was not a single other person in the restaurant and the staff was too busy "chilling" with each other at the bar than actually doing their job. As we were settling in the waiter decided to announce to us that cork fee is $30/bottle of wine...excuse me, but Manhattan restaurants don't even charge that much! Who do you think you guys are? I asked to see the cork fee rules in writing and obviously it was nowhere to be found. To add on, after speaking to the owner a few days later I was told that they actually don't charge a cork fee and he was not sure why the staff told us that. We were ready to leave and go to Chateau de Capitaine (which by the way doesn't charge a cork fee Mondays through Thursdays and has VERY friendly staff). And then the waiter, Artem, changed his mind and told us they would honor us as returning customers and waive the cork fee. Looking back I wish we had left. Needless to say the waiter hustled us for every penny he could, suggesting and almost forcing us to order the most expensive platters that we did not need numerous times. I kept explaining to him that we didn't need a cheese and olives platter for $40, but simply wanted olives while we waited for food between courses to arrive. The entire experience was unpleasant and restaurant service nonexistent. To conclude, it's unfortunate that our joyous family event was spoiled by incompetent staff that would rather rip customers off. The food was decent. read more

Food decent, small dance floor, really annoying air-conditioning situation. They appear to have two mini-split ACs for the entire place, so if you are close to one you have cold air blowing on you all night, but if you are far from it you are too hot! Not the same orange grill as it used to be. They have put together a horrible team of servers that make you feel as if you are attending a lunchroom in a Gulag. If you really wish to get the full Soviet Russia experience and pay 100$ per person, then this is definitely a place for you. I am far from being a picky person, I understand that you cannot manage everyone at 100% but it seemed to me that in this joint the busboys and waiters tell the owners and managers what to do. I rarely belittle businesses on social sites, knowing how detrimental it could be to one's business, but this place deserves to be put out of business. On top of it all our party was overcharged probably hoping to get away with the fact that crowd had a good time and was tipsy, but that's just low. Had my bday party celebration here. The food and presentation was good. The service was great, the downside was the music. The singers sang songs from 1970 & 1980, after they took a break and were given $ to sing few more songs, they had the DJ play few very old songs. It seemed that it was intentionally done so that everyone could go home. The singer had her car keys in her hands ready to leave. I read the reviews of previous guest and I also went to the restaurant with my wife for a night out and we "LOVE IT".From my ex[perience visiting for the first time I gave it 5 STARS. I understand this is a Russian owned business, but I didnt get that they don't serve anyone else if your not Russian there were other races there as well. If that be the case why advertise on Cable, which is where we found about the place, just advertise on Russian TV. Anyway. the food was UNBELIEVABLE, the service was OUTSTANDING. The only issue I had was with the valet.. They offered it, but it didnt say it was PAID PARKING until he brought me my car and said $10, plus he took forever to come with our car. All in all it was good. I had the salmon with cherry and wine sauce with wild rice, my wife had the organic chicken with a potatoe pancake with grape sauce. We had the Spanish Paprika Chicken wings which was good. They is one other curiosity I would like to ask them, why you dont have a blender to make frozen drinks ie: Daqs, Coladas? Food was ok,poor selection and no traditional Russian food even though it is a Russian restaurant.No show whatsoever but a lame live music performance.Super boring. The food is great but what really made me write this is the experience I had with some of the workers there regarding valet parking. The company they hired charged me $20 for parking "up front" without me even asking. Then when I left they were no where to be found and they never issued me a ticket that I even gave them my car. The workers scrambled around looking for the valet workers couldn't find them or the keys. Then they finally found the keys somewhere and asked me how much I was charged and he immediately took a $20 out of his pocket and gave it to me with out me even asking. Now that's what I call stepping up. That's something most Russian restaurants would never do. That goes a long way with me. I wish I knew the gentleman's name. Great job. read more

The food here was absolutely amazing. I went on a Tuesday in the middle of the day. The menu had an amazing selection, which I was so excited to choose from. Everything we ate was mouth watering. Absolutely delicious! I had the Stripe Sea bass with pesto mashed potatoes. It was on point. My partner and I was fighting over who gets the last bite :). He had the Scallops as well as the Lobster with Squid sprinkles with a bit of Caviar. I have to admit I stole some from his plate. Definitely recommend. I had a large private event at Orange Grill in May. We rented out the entire restaurant for the day, and I am happy to say that I was so so pleased with the service, the wonderful food (from a cocktail setting oyster bar to a main course of Russian cuisine to a fondue fountain and cake pop tree for dessert), the great DJ and singer which got everyone dancing, and the excellent bar and sushi staff. The staff made our event so much easier than at other restaurants where such events are difficult to plan, execute, maintain, and make guests happy. They worked flawlessly with the party planner I had hired for the event. What I really liked about the staff was that they seemed to enjoy the party as well. They were extremely kind towards guests and even engaged them in party activities like photography and dance without being obtrusive whatsoever to the event. The food was magnificent! The sushi was amazing, everyone enjoyed the drinks, all main course items were cooked to perfection (no possible complaints here), and the dessert, as I mention before, was ravishing in presentation and taste. The decor in the restaurant was very nice and contemporary without sacrificing the Brooklyn charm. The large flower mural on the back wall definitely added some more pizazz to our party. I would give Orange Grill 6/5 stars if I could. For your next event choose orange grill you will be happier than at any party you've ever hosted before!!!!! read more

Had a birthday party for my boyfriend on friday night. The ambiance and design is probably 5 stars... I loved it... The cold and hot appetizers are Yummy and interesting... Food presentation is wonderful and inviting... The portions are small but variety is enough to get you full.. The variety of food is nice. Additional plus that music starts much later in the evening so you have an opportunity to talk to people at your table. Also the music choice and variety is also very nice.The only downside is that at end of the evening, in addition to 18% of Tip, the additional tip has been requested... went for dinner with my family. made reservation day before for 8:30 arrived 8:35 the waiter told us that he gave our table to somebody else. he said that we are late and he tried to call us twice and no one answered. total lie, never called, wrote reservation for 7. finally offered a table next to sushi bar (usually reserved for staff) said that he will sit us in 30 min for a regular table. 2 hours later still no table, had to leave. no one apologized, waiters were rude. last time there, they have lost us as customers forever. read more
