First Oregano's experience. Walked in on a Saturday night with a 45 minute wait. Loved the Yelp waitlist integration. Worked perfectly and guessing our seating time exactly to the minute! We were seated by the wonderful front staff who helped us make it through the long wait with pesto pizza samples. Service was wonderful and the atmosphere of the restaurant will welcome me back anytime. The food though... Our order: Started with some appetizers: Six Pack Shrimp, Stuffed Mushrooms, and the Brussel Sprouts. Shrimp was well cooked and buttered and overall uneventful, but that was the best of our appetizers. The mushroom itself was way over salted to the point of visible salt on the bottom of it, small mistake probably, but otherwise I think could have been a great dish. The Brussels were where we ran into the most issues, they just were really underdone. My wife and I love Brussels sprouts, but you need to really cook them to prevent the hard, green, raw flavor these had. Extra salt you can scrap off, but nothing we could do for these. The rosemary combo didn't help the bitter flavor at all, but I wouldn't count out that flavor combo until another try with more cooked sprouts. Our table couldn't finish more than a couple Brussels sprouts and we hoped mentioning our disappointment to the server would prevent others similar experiences, that wound up bringing the manager to ask how to improve the dish in the future and they comped the dish. They didn't need to do that, but the gesture was very well received and I saw the manager have a couple of these interactions with other guests which tells me they really care about the quality of what they are doing, which was so cool to see! Of the two entrees we ordered, the Bistro Classic pizza got a pass around the table. Not amazing, but we looked forward to the slice or two leftover to have the next day. And then the best dish of the night, the Italian Flag Lasagna. While not an incredible lasagna, it was cooked very well and stood out among everything we ordered. I would richen up that red sauce with more tomato paste to keep it lively and acidic, the cheese was great but the exposed pasta turned to a hard and thick cracker after broiling. The employees get a 5 star for sure. Kevin was our waiter and he was very nice. We went there around 1:30 on a Saturday and got seated around 2:50. Our food didn't arrive until 3:30. Kids were very hungry and they do not provide bread baskets to snack on after seated. The time to get our food after it was placed was close to 40 mins. The place was packed. Very hectic feeling. I had to send silverware back twice because it was dirty. One of the times there was a giant leaf stuck to a desert spoon. The salads are delicious and huge. One is big enough for 2 people to share. The kids meals are priced right and generous portions. Overall, it wasn't amazing. The pizza was average. read more

We were told the wait would be 40 mins... as I write this it's been 1 hour and 15 mins... stuck outside in the cold with a 4 year old and still have no idea when our table would be ready. Still have "2" parties in front of us like we did 20 mins ago. Expect an additional 30 mins to your wait time here. Terrible service. read more

Just left Oregano's as usual the food was excellent, great service from the host who promptly seated me to Monique who took care of all my dining needs, service was prompt, The Picasso Salad was excellent and as large as ever, love that the lettuce doesn't taste like it came out of a bag of nitrogen, everything crisp, chicken was excellent. Guess I get lucky judging by some of the reviews, I frequent Oreganos every time I'm in the area and have never had a bad experience in 15 years. Thanks again read more

CHEATERS! ....i. Will not support a business that lies right to my face. Was going to go to oreganos for my birthday with Renae when I thought I'd have their Margarita, waitress says sorry were out of house tequila. I point out the fact that the menu clearly says in two different ways they use "top shelf" very nicely because I'm very confused. She leaves and a bartender returnes and leans down on the table over me and asks what the problem is? I explain and he says they " talk them up to sell them, and if I want top shelf it's more $" and then just stared down at me when I said that's clearly lying and actually had to tell him to move and get out of my face so we could leave.... was looking forward to eating there but I don't know if your going to lie about that what else are they doing... I have been going to Oreganos for 17 years and look forward to dinner when visiting Az. I dined at this location tonight and felt that something was off with the food. The penne pesto did not taste the same and the pizza was on the burnt side. I have eaten at every location from Chandler to Flagstaff and NEVER had a bad experience, but this particular location missed the mark. Almost turned me off to Oreganos entirely. I think corporate management needs to investigate. read more

Service is absurdly bad. I called around 5:30 PM for a take-out pizza. They told me it was a 2 hour wait. I was dumbfounded. I called Venezia's which is 20 minutes further away. They said I could pick it up in 20 minutes, which I did. Then 20 minutes back to the house and 20 minutes to eat it. I still wound up saving an hour vs. Oregano's. This is not the first time I've experienced a horrendous wait time at Oregano's, but it will be the last! read more

This place is absolutely awesome all the way around! Came in during AZ bike week close to closing. ALL the staff was super friendly and the food was amazing. They didn't even rush us at all. As far as the food-Nothing boring here and some really great twists on standard dishes that made it extra fun. We all tried different dishes and every one of them was fantastic! If you like waiting over 2 hours to eat upon arrival to a restaurant then go here. They took forever to take the order then they took forever to make the food! They said their kitchen was backed up! They seem to always say this. Either hire more people or dont take any new to go orders. Serve the people actually at the restaurant first. And the food wasn't even that good. The last few times have been very disappointing. We have always enjoyed our service and meals here but no longer. The female manager is of no help to the staff & rude to them as well. Tonight will be the last time we go back for awhile. Bartender was not at all very warm or friendly (they weren't busy), food marginal & the big dressing spill at the front door I reported when we walked in was still tracked all over the sidewalk, leaving an oily slippery mess someone will fall on when we left. Got there at 5:30 and I was told the wait us an hour and a half! Forget that! Also the entrance is set up so bad it's annoying! You check in, enter, and exit all into a narrow doorway! Really?! First off, to JD H, we live in Cave Creek, so I'm not a "schlepper"nor am I a "pretentious yenta from Phoenix". Anyway, this was our first time to visit any Oregano's so we're debating whether Oregano's just isn't our thing, or if it was this location. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30. There were some others waiting, but being that there were only two of us, we were seated immediately. Our server was nice and attentive. However, I'm only giving them a two star rating because of the food. We had the BIG dinner salad for $3.89. They weren't kidding when they say BIG!!! The salad was huge enough to share with four people. Needless to say we only ate about half. The salad definitely gets 5 stars. Here's where it goes downhill. I ordered "Alfredo the Dark" with chicken, and my husband ordered Bollo Pasta with meat sauce. It took about 45 minutes to be served. When it arrived, our server was there immediately with cheese. While looking at my alfredo, I asked her where the chicken was. She said she did not see it either, and was going to check if it was her error or the kitchen's. She came back and admitted it was her error, apologized profusely, and said we would be comped for my meal. She also offered to get me the chicken, but I declined since it had taken 45 minutes already and I didn't want to wait anymore. The alfredo was dry, it needed more cream, and the pasta was undercooked; definitely not impressed. Now on to the Bollo Pasta. It was definitely a generous portion, but there was not a lot of sauce. The angel hair pasta was overcooked and was mushy. We asked for more sauce, which they did bring out after about 5 minutes, my husband put it on his pasta and proceeded to eat. He said the sauce wasn't very good. I tasted it and there was waaaaay to much oregano in the sauce. Now mind you, I love my sauce to have spices, but this was overbearing. I'm not sure if this is how all of the Oregano's locations' bollo sauce tastes or if the cook had an accident. I really hoped to like Oregano's as we are looking for a go-to restaurant that's nearby. We're not sure if we should try this location again, try another location, or just give up. We definitely were not impressed. Once again though, our server was good and we had no qualms with her, it was the actual meal that was horrible. read more

You guys, it's Oregano's. Stop expecting fine dining. The food is borderline meh and good. The portion sizes are for huge fat American families. Share with each other! You have to wait for a table. If you don't want to wait for a table you should go somewhere else. Yes, it's often a very long wait. Very, very... Long wait time for a table. It's your choice if you want to wait or not. Don't complain about it. I'm sure every server wishes they could turn the tables faster but they can't. Just chill out. Have some sangria. And make sure you get a pizza cookie before you leave. Not the best restaurant in the world. And really not the very best food in the world. Very loud with zero chance of any intimacy. Tables are way to close together, such that one finds themselves part of or in the middle of conversation at next table. Family oriented. They make no effort to keep families with loud children separated from adult tables. However, my biggest complaint is the absolutely filthy bathrooms. I am a great believer that you should not be able to see the dirty dishes stacked up in the wash area which is very obviously also. Just no kind of ambience for an Italian restaurant. When I return? I think not, for there are much better choices in Cave Creek. read more

This place is a great addition to Cave Creek. No wonder there are always lines out the yazoo and parking is at a premium---we have needed a place in town that provides tasty food at reasonable prices in a fun, casual atmosphere. I find their thin crust pizza perfect---just enough crust to get yummy toppings to my mouth and cut in convenient squares. I love the Pablo Picasso salad. The sausages and peppers and onions are delish. Service is pretty good considering the traffic===they screw up, but they fix it with grace and speed. I am really happy Oregano's has come to town! And kudos to the company that they spent the time and money to rehab one of the oldest buildings instead of tearing it down. I think that says a lot. read more

After 3 years here in AZ, I finally went to Oregano's. We had family in from OC and they were in the mood for Italian. We had 3 boys-under age 9 with us and great-grandparents in their upper 80's. There were food allergies, various needs and everyone was hungry! Our group of 12 was wonderfully taken care of by a young man who was very vigilant about my dairy allergy, considerate about my mom's various dietary restrictions and made even our 2-yr old grandson very happy with a kid's pizza slice. The food took a while to get to us, but that was okay-there were old movies playing on the TV (boys had never seen black and white!) and outside of that little glitch we were very happy. The pizza is alright. My suggestion is do NOT order an appetizer. Every single time that we did it came out the same time as the pizza which kinda defeats the purpose of ordering an appetizer. Run by a bunch of high school kids that never been taught about the dining experience and how to serve properly. I blame management more than the service or kitchen staff. I was invited out w/ friends while in Cave Creek. I saw the 3 stars, but let them convince me to go... They said it was great. The food was good. The service is terrible. Took over 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Another 35 minutes for our food to come out, and then we waited another 20 minutes after we finished eating to get our bill. We just ordered for the first a deep dish pizza from Oregano's Pizza in Cave Creek, AZ. Being from Chicago, we are extremely particular about our pizzas. The pizza was even better than Lou Malnati's, if you can imagine that (Sorry Lou). We visit Scottsdale about twice a year and will never eat any other pizza besides Oregano's. The sausage had to be homemade and the crust was amazingly flaky not to mention more cheese than we've ever had on a pizza. Great job, Oregano's! P.S. The only pizza we eat in Chicago is Lou Malnati's. I mention this only because I didn't want you to think I was badmouthing Lou Malnati's in any way ... it's also amazing pizza. read more

Told my family this wasn't worth the hour wait they advised it would be...and certainly not worth almost 2 hours! Al, the manager, did give complementary garlic cheese bread, but still not coming back. Don't know how you miss-estimate a wait by almost 100%. read more
