My family and I love Oriens Cafe for their ice cream! Never a long line, and such quick service. They have plenty of flavors and I haven't tried one that I haven't liked. The ice cream is so rich and creamy. Their desserts are also a hit. The cannoli being my favorite. Unfortunately the only thing that was good about my meal was the gelato- which was very good! My soup tasted like it was from a can and the spinach and cheese arancinoi. It was cold and tasted old. Not good at all. I was really hoping everything would be better. read more

Adorable! This little cafe is is a such a cute place to have a nice quick lunch or for some yummy gelato. There's outdoor seating during the warm months which is nice. Went for dinner. I ordered soup and 1/2 mearball Panini with Chai. My dinner mates order ziti/ meat sauces with expresso. My daughter ordered hot chocolate with desert. All the hot drinks were tepid. My soup was lots of broth and veggie stock but very little chicken. At least it was hot, unlike my Panini and others pasta. Add to it the ziti was dry and the sauce wasn't very good. The plus side: Deserts and gelato were delicious. Looking around, it seems 75-80% of the people were there for coffee and desert. So skip the food, eat the sweets. read more

I love the food here and coffee! BUT the staff is just SO MISERABLE. I worked in fast food and customer service for about 10 years and I just haaaaate going to places where you feel like you're bothering/annoying the staff for coming there. There is nothing worse than deferred excitement at the taste of bland watery sauce... this will not happen at Oriens cafe...the pasta and sauce fills you with savory comfort. Let me preface this review by saying that this is strictly a review of customer service. I wish wholeheartedly that I could review the food. But not for a lack of trying, I have never been able to eat at Oriens. And here is why. For teachers in Greece, Oriens has always been the prime lunch destination during any professional development day. Us teachers can't leave school most days of the school year, so this is our one chance to try the esteemed and fresh menu. However, this also makes it impossible to get through the line going out the door on these days. It seems that all teachers flock here around noon. Time after time, I have sadly had to make an alternate lunch choice when I drove up and saw the daunting line of chattering teachers out the door. Teachers talk a lot. You know they will be there quite awhile. And we are only given 30 minutes, after all. So, imagine my excitement when one of my traveling-teacher colleagues came in this morning raving about Orien's breakfast sandwiches. "And it's not busy at all now!" she exclaimed! Myself and another teacher only needed one cursory glance at each other before we grabbed our purses and headed for the sign-out sheet. Today, the one day of the year we can take a flexible lunch break, we can get to Oriens before the pick-a-little-talk-a-little brood arrives. And even better, for one of our favorite things; none other than the breakfast sandwich. "Freshly scrambled egg with crispy bacon and oozing cheese on a buttery croissant". Our colleague's words rang in our ears as we anxiously drove up to Oriens. A lot of cars, but to our astonishment, no line!!! We walked in, and not only was there no line, but there was no single person dining at Oriens at this moment! We had the entire place to ourselves. We approached the counter around 11:14 am, our eyes frantically searching for a breakfast menu. Two friendly faces finally appeared and greeted us. "We heard you have the most incredible breakfast sandwiches!" we said almost unanimously. "Oh. Yes, but we are no longer serving breakfast." My co-worker and I glanced around to the empty cafe. "Not even a breakfast sandwich"? I pleaded. "No, we stop serving breakfast at 11. How about some lunch?" "We specifically came here with our hearts set on breakfast sandwiches," my co-worker added. "Sorry, no breakfast after 11!" Disappointment ensued. Hunger overwhelmed us. With our heads drooped and our taste buds frustrated, we politely declined the lunch, and defaulted to a commonly-known bagel chain down the road. Now, I understand that some high profile restaurants and chains have strict breakfast serving policies. I furthermore understand that if we had been asking for gourmet french toast, pancakes or eggs benedict, that these policies should be strictly adhered to, or that it would make a lot of extra work for someone to prepare when lunch is already what is cooking. But, we merely wanted a scrambled egg, with some bacon (available on some lunch sandwiches), and some cheese, melted onto a croissant. And since it seems there were no other customers to tend to...well, you get the point. Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'll ever being trying any of the food at Oriens. If I do, I'll be sure to post an updated review, that will hopefully share a very different tone. read more

My wife and I went here for the first time for some dessert . The atmosphere is nice and very casual . The desserts looked fantastic but nothing is labeled or has any prices on it. I said that it was our first time here and the girl came around the counter and very delightfully explained what everything was. My wife had some mousse (hazelnut I think) and I had the Rum Baba. We also had some English Breakfast tea and French Vanilla coffee. The desserts were absolutely delicious. I don't think I've ever tasted anything like Rum Baba. Sooo good ! The prices are pretty reasonable too. It was obvious that there were a lot of regular customers here which I think is wonderful. I'll definitely have to go back on a warmer day and try the Gelato. (I am giving five stars based solely on the gelato. I have never had an actual meal here) Anytime I think about gelato I have to go get it. The gelato at Oriens is just phenomenal. Full of flavor and very rich. The establishment itself is very cute and casual and the gelato itself looks so pretty when it is sitting in the cooler. The flavors change based on the seasons, and at one point they had a cherry flavor that was out of this world, but I haven't seen it resurface since. Everybody I know absolutely adores the Dark Chocolate flavor they make (I've been told it tastes like a frozen double chocolate brownie), however, I can't stand chocolate ice cream so I always get the Stracciatella with a little Cookie Dough mixed in. It's very creamy, rich, and delicious. It's worth every penny and they fill up your dishes very well. If you are unsure of a flavor, you can ask for a tiny spoon of whatever it is and you can try it before buying the whole dish. Great experiences usually. Once or twice the wait was a little ridiculous but nothing to stop me from getting my gelato... read more

One of my must visit spots whenever I'm in town. These are traditional Sicilian recipes. The gelato is amazing, I usually go for the spumoni or dark chocolate. The pastries and cannoli are among the best in the Roc. They always have great soups and sandwiches for lunch. I have always found the owner and staff to be personable and helpful, so some of the other comments on service here surprise me. I am one happy Sicilian woman right now. read more

Love this place! Employees are always nice and helpful. Food has consistently been great. The half grilled veggie sandwich with half caprese salad is my favorite. This place is the best Italian discovery in Greece! I don't know if many of you are aware, that the town of Greece was discovered by Italians. I was surprised that such a nice and kind of upscale place was located in Greece(which is filled with people who are mostly low income like myself) and not located in the more affluent area like Pittsford. This cafe is owned by 2 authentic Italians( there are too many Italians who really have no clue about the food and culture other than pasta). They had a nice display of pastries, not the typical Italian cookie tray that you see in most "Italian" bakeries, they had an array of desserts that I don't see often. The cafe had 2 displays of slices of cakes and the other was an array of gelato. I wish I took pictures of all the desserts! which looked so heavenly! I ordered the Cannoli gelato and this pistachio/coffee cake. The gelato tasted delicious! Very smooth! And the cake was not that bad either. Expect to pay more than you thought, my mom and I ordered a few things and it rang up $30! It was definitely a sad day for my wallet, but a happy day for my tummy! read more

I have not had gelato in the US that came close to gelato in Italy, that is until Orien's Cafe opened. I've tried gelato in Boston, Rochester, Miami, Toronto and always disappointed. The texture and flavors wrong!! Orien's however is spot on-thick, creamy and full of flavor. Rum baba are also a favorite treat-authentic! My grandfather would get so excited to bite into an Orien's baba. It transported him home to Italy and the baba he would get there. A definite must if one enjoys the taste of rum baba is the baba cake. Delicious!! As for gelato my favorite is nucciola, tastes like Nutella. So glad that Orien's not only opened in Rochester but in Greece. They are a family favorite!! read more

Complete hidden gem! I'm embarrassed to say that it's taken be years before I happened upon this little cafe and gelato store. It's located off Long Pond in the County Village plaza. The gelato is amazing, best I've had outside of Italy. They have a nice assortment of cookies and pastries all are really good; lots of old school Italian style. You can also order salads, sandwiches and dinners. It's small, and can get crowded fast, but it's worth it. read more

I really like the atmosphere and its a great place to hang out in the summer months. The desserts and gelato are always amazing, where the food is alright. It tastes like everything is microwaved, so if you go here make sure its for the sweet treats and not dinner. I would highly recommend the tre bon chocolate mousse. On a rare night out, my wife and I had very a pleasant conversation without interruption and without loud background noise. Great Fried Veg Panini, the gelato and cookies were delicious. Took forever for the food to come out but we were there at a strange time for it to be as busy as it was. Oriens has amazing gelato and pastries! For that they would get a five, but ordering system is inconsistent, food prep takes forever. Once this summer, we placed our order, sat outside and 45 min later went in to inquire about our food and they had " lost," our order. Grrr the sandwiches and salads are delicious, but a little pricey bc they don't come w chips or fruit and for 9$ there should be something to accompany the panini. The meatball panini is my fav. Come here for the gelato. Everything else here is good. I've had paninis, cakes, and pastries here. But, the gelato is what sets Oriens apart. I've been away a couple of years and this last time I was back, the gelato was not as amazing as I remembered it being. I don't know if it was just the batch or if they're using a mix instead of from scratch ingredients.
