I've been a customer of Tommy's for a long time now, and I can't believe I haven't yelp them yet. Remembering the good old days of taking that road trip to LA, to their original stand, on Beverly and Rampart, every late Friday or Saturday night. Those were the days. Now that I'm a little older...ok, much older, I can't go as often as I would like. All the items here are still great as the original stand, blah blah years ago. At this particular restaurant, place is nice and clean. Doesn't have The character of the original stand, but same great tasting food. The employees are super friendly and nice, attentive and helpful. If I could, I would eat here twice a week. Still a fan after all these years. 4 stars. read more

It's been awhile since I've been to a Tommy's. My buddy pointed out there was a bogo on the 21st of July and he was hanging out with an old friend I hadn't seen in years so I met up. The bogo was buy one chili cheese burger and get one free. I ended up getting the second one but gave it to a homeless dude down the street. The burger ingredients haven't really changed and it was still greasy and tasty. I also bought chili cheese fries to go along with my order. The place was overall looking clean. This Tommy's gives more of the fast food franchise vibe vs the OG Rampart location. Big restaurant. A lot cleaner then the LA location. Drive thru was fast. Food came out quick. Chili Cheese Fries - $5.05 - SUPER small for the price you pay. Chili was good. Very simple and made well but small. Chili Cheese Dog - $4.60 - Big hot dog portion wise. The hot dog itself was small and skinny. The bun was big. Good chili and comes with all the toppings. I prefer the iconic original location more. I haven't had chili cheese in a long time and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the Caliente Burger and Chili Cheese Fries for delivery. I have to say, it was really messy but it was delicious! The spiciness hit the spot and the chili was really tasty. I didn't enjoy the fries as much as I did the burger and the portion is a bit small. I'll definitely come back to have more of their chili as well as try out the chili dogs! read more

Worked late last night- long day at work- decided to drive thru Tommys- 10pm- Black El Mone Police SUV in front of me in drive thru- ordered chilie bowl, Double chile cheese burger, fries and single chile burger- drive up to pay- was told no need- the cops covered my order! - no need to pay! WHAT! Tried to catch up to them to share my fries or at least say Thank You! No Luck. Made my week- I will pay it forward. Was craving a chili dog today, and so I looked to see what was around me, and Tommys came up. I havent have Tommys since I was high school and I dont really remember much about it. So I ordered the Chili Dog + Chili Fries (I can feel the Heartburn as I order it) Went thru the drive thru - Grubbed, and I dunno - its not as good as some of the reviews make it. The chili is like a paste consistancy. The pickle didnt really go with the chili either. The container holding the fries were soaked thru with grease, no lie. I want to start by saying that I really enjoy going to Tommy's and ordering my double cheeseburger combo and chili cheese dog. However, I would not recommend going to this location. I have gone to many other Tommy's location and the food is excellent. At the El Monte location, the quality of the food is terrible. Prior to 2020, I would visit this location frequently and the food and service was excellent. Since then, I slowly stopped visiting the El Monte location because I noticed that quality of the food was not the same. The first thing I noticed is that the chili sauce and meat patty consistently tasted old. The chili sauce many times was dark, very thick and salty, and the meat patty's tasted old and were very dry around the edges. This happened several times and I decided to stop going to the El Monte location. Instead, I have gone to other Tommy's locations where the food has been consistent and delicious. I had not returned to the Tommy's El Monte location since approximately March or April 2023. Today, I was driving by the Tommy's El Monte location and I decided to give it a try. I ordered a chili cheeseburger with extra mustard, chili cheese dog and a large drink. I was really looking forward to my meal and when I got home, I immediately began to eat my meal. AGAIN, I was disappointed. The first thing I noticed is that the chili sauce at this location is totally different than at all of the other Tommy's locations. It was light colored and very runny! When has the sauce been runny at Tommy's? Never! Also, the meat patty on my chili cheese burger was dry and stiff around the edges, as if the meat patty had been sitting for a while. Someone from Tommy's Corporate office needs to investigate this because this location is obviously not following the same formula/ingredients as all the other Tommy's location. As for the customers, I would recommend going to a different location. This place is horrible! Stay away! read more

Sloppy Tommy's Burger just threw the burger together tasted terrible and very salty. Maybe that's called a gravity Burger. As the gravity shifts so does the burger. Soft warm chili fries were gross. Stopped by for dinner since it was Tuesday. Gotta love the monthly Tuesday specials. I've been to a few different Tommy's and the seating is less than acceptable for plus size folks. However this location has mostly Fat Friendly seating. The dining area was very clean. The staff was all smiles and very friendly. Our food was very hot and fresh. Great food. Great location. How things change. Tommy's use to be so good. Messy chili burger and fast service - Loved it. Now Service is much slower, burgers are packed very neatly and not as good. I usually only go to the Original one on Rampart & Beverly, Where there were chips and canned sodas. Now they have changed and the food and service has too. Still Like Tommy's sometimes but quality and service has gone way down. I wish they could have left the Original place the same with the chips and canned soda and fast service with delicious messy chili burgers. Been to this location' drive through twice and both times service were fast and friendly enough. Ordered Chili burger, chili fries and a drink. Don't forget the yellow chilies and ketchup to get those chili fries even "dirtier". It's been more than twenty years since I first had a taste of Tommy's chili burgers and fries and it hasn't changed at all. TLDR, it's not healthy, it's not inexpensive, and it's not for every day. What it is, is an experience and worth going at least once but if you don't like chili, don't bother. I normally have the number 1 extra chili (I don't upgrade to the 1/4 pounder option). For me extra chilli on the burger is key because I don't like getting chilli cheese fries... but I want some chilli cheese fries lol. With the extra chilli on the burger you can shake it a bit and scoop to your hearts content. Unlike a lot of visitors, I grew up with the original, original Tommy's in Los Angeles. I personally can't understand how people can eat this more than once a month maybe? Still every time I go to Tommy's it's great and I'm happy. At this specific Tommy's, everything is super clean. The staff is polite, and service is fairly quick. They have a drive thru, but I prefer dining in. Growing up it used to be a Wendy's and the shape of the restaurant remains the same. A quick add is that their tamales are kinda dry but the chilli helps, hotdogs are great, and the normal size drink is big. read more

Tommy's is probably a yearly visit for me. Today was the day my bro is visiting from Seattle. He was feeling Tommy's chili. My brother ordered the double with chili fries. My boys orders the chili cheese dogs with fries. My oldest wanted chili fries, but I told him to use the excess chili that falls off for his fries. I'm sure he would pay for it afterwards. That's just too much chili. I got a chili cheeseburger. man it taste just like the last time I had it. I will see how I feel later. Lol. Smooth and warm so you have to eat it right away I think the onions and pickles enhance the flavor. This location seemed quiet at about 2:30 in the afternoon not sure about lunch rush.
