So I lived near the original location in my early life but this was literally the first time I tried this place. The chili tastes like refried beans which is a really interesting taste. I forgot to order regular Chili Hamburgers since my sister is lactose intolerant but it was okay lol you only live once. This was literally both our first times eating here. It's TOMMY'S. Obviously the chili is what brings people here. It definitely wasn't the location or the service. The burgers seem to be shrinking and the price increases. Anyway it's still good food with that trademark flavor you can only get from an ORIGINAL TOMMY'S location. This location I noticed was not as generous with their chili portion compared to other locations I've been to. That being said you can't go wrong with this signature special. I Love Tommy's double cheeseburgers. Been eating 2 double cheeseburgers every visit for over 40 years. The last two trips to Norwalk Tommy's has been VERY DISAPPOINTING!! So before going to this place, I read through a few reviews and I thought maybe people are just exaggerating about the bad service. Tommy's is one of my favorite hamburger joints but I had not been to this specific location. It is actually hard to complain because I love their food. The problem I had today was the Drive-Thru service. The gal who took my order was just not listening or (I thought) maybe there is an issue with the mic or speaker. Anyhow, I was able to place my order after listening to her really annoying voice demanding (Not asking nicely) to repeat my order for the third time. 2 California Classic w/cheese, 2 Cheese Burgers, 1 Chili Dog and 1 Chili Fries. When I get to the window she asked me how many chili fries I had ordered so I said One. She then continued to repeat my order and missed the chili dog so I said "AND ONE CHILI DOG" she gave me the total and I said I ALSO WANT A CHILI DOG", she repeated my total and I was going to tell her again about the chili dog but thought it was useless. I was actually thinking, I sound stupid because she probably already has my chili dog. Unfortunately, I was wrong about her having my chili dog and about the mic or the speaker been the problem, she was just not listening. Ugh... been going to this place all my life. LOL I know for a fact their meat quality has changed, but with the chili on top, you won't miss it too much. From the hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chili boats, chili sausage burgers for breakfast to hot dogs, they have just about all the food you would find in a hamburger stand. I don't care for their store frozen fries alone nor with ketchup, but the chili & cheese with onions on it is the business. :) When I come here, I always order the chili boat. I grew up in this area and I don't think the night crowd is really that bad. They just want to come and have a bite to eat and be on their way. I remember riding my bike here or walking with my friends to have a burger and fries when I was in high school. Before that. my dad would drive me. Back to the review, it's a chiliburger joint in Norwalk for goodness sakes. You get what's on the menu, no frills, no fancy 3-ply napkins. The burgers are great, I don't get extra chili on my fries because that makes me feel like I'm going to have a myocardial infarction. If I get the chilidog, then I get chili on the fries. I love how the chilidogs come with a slice of tomato and pickles! the combo is around 5 bucks. I'll give it a 4 for the food and quick service. If you're so scared of the neighborhood, just get drive-thru and keep your "high-class" self in the car. I like nice restaurants but when I get the chili craving, it has to be from Tommy's. I love this place and have been coming here since the 1970's. Tonight, I had the regular Chili Cheese Burger, a Chili Cheese Hotdog (instead of Fries), and an extra-large Cherry Pepsi. (They no longer have Coca-Cola products.) While the hotdog was good, I'm not impressed with it. It's not the worst that I've had. It just wasn't the best. I think next time, I'm going to stick with Chili Cheese Fries. Since they've begun to offer the Quarter Pound Chili Cheese Burger, I've been buying it and wondering what the difference was between it and the regular one that I bought tonight. Now I know. It seems that they've made the regular one wafer thin, and if you want the original thicker burger, pay the extra for the Quarter Pound one.
