Found this place on Yelp because we were looking for something local to try. And it exceeded our expectations. We didn't expect much because of how small the restaurant was and the lack of interior design but honestly the sushi overcame all of those minor details. It was so fresh and delicious, and the waitress was so kind and caring. I will definitely come here again and recommend to others.

Clean and pretty space. Front of the house and back of the house, all friendly! Ordered the yellowtail cut roll and super albacore roll. Fresh and light.

This place is incredible. Fish and service are top notch. Best sushi north of Victory, and honestly it's just as good, if not better quality than a lot of places on Ventura. You won't be disappointed.

Lemony Roll, Albacore Roll, and Philadelphia Roll. Salmon sashimi had nice big pieces and so delicious!

I have lived in the Valley Glen area for 20 years and have always driven outside of my area for good sushi. Well, not anymore! This is place has friendly staff, super clean, yummy food, and great prices. You gotta try the Lemony Roll - amazing!! Koi Sushi is delicious, don't pass on it!!

Black Snapper- chef recommendation. FIRE Exceeded our expectations

This place NEVER disappoints! Been here 5x now in the last few months. When you're in the mood for quality fish, this is your spot. Aside of the cleanliness of the restaurant and staff delivering awesome customer service- the food is top tier. I forgot to take a pic of my favorite Toro, the Kama-Toro! This is a MUST try and return again and again sushi spot! You really won't be disappointed

A small hidden sushi spot that is quaint and cute. Their sushi was pretty good, my favorite was their negitoro hand roll. Service was quick and they were very nice.

First off this is a chef we followed from a well known sushi place and he is a crazy chef with unique variety of flavors. Secondly we came all the way from Beverly Hills and eat sushi all the time and his hands and quality of fish is beyond amazing. The place is a small new resteraunt. We ate everything and missed some pictures of the toro sushi and the seared engawa but it was phenomenal. Better than any sushi resteraunt, perfect ratio of fish and rice and seared to the perfect touch. Andre is very special and his culinary skills and his cutting of the fish is great allows it to melt in your mouth. We had great service and everything was clean and fast. Definitely enjoyed it all!

Ordered 6-7 different rolls, but they all tasted like same. Fish wasn't fresh and not comparable to another restaurants.

I ordered takeout and they had everything out in 15 minutes, fresh and delicious. The restaurant inside seemed really nice to dine in but to go was the vibe for me. I went with the special combo box of salmon teriyaki, miso soup, rice, vegetable tempura and salad. A TON of food for $20. Also went with some classic rolls like the cali, shrimp tempura, and cucumber roll and they all hit the spot. About $6-8 for each cut roll. All in all, attentive and kind service, quick to get the food out and satisfied my sushi cravings. *The tempura sweet potato was my FAV*

I wasn't too hungry, but I ordered the seared scallops w/ soy wrap, and they were actually really, really good. The crispy rice and shrimp tempura were also really good. The service was great, everything came out quickly, and the place itself is cute. It's definitely a smaller spot. Parking kind of sucks since there's not really any, but the food and service made up for it. I only gave it four stars because of the parking, not the service. I can definitely see myself coming back here!

I'll start with the few negatives because, honestly, there weren't many. With how popular this place has become and the number of regulars that come in every day, parking can be a little difficult. Thankfully, they have someone outside helping direct cars and navigate the parking situation, which definitely makes things easier. The interior is also a little outdated and could use some updating, but once the food comes out, you quickly forget about it. Now for the good stuff. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Great service always makes a difference, and the staff here really added to the overall experience. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Rice Cake, Crispy Shrimp Roll, Mula Roll, and KB4 Roll, and every single one was a hit. Spicy Tuna Rice Cake -- Easily one of the highlights of the meal and an absolute MUST TRY. You get four pieces of crispy rice that have the perfect crunch on the outside while still being light and fluffy inside. They're topped with avocado and some of the best spicy tuna I've ever had. The tuna was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and creamy. I could've ordered another plate of these by themselves. Crispy Shrimp Roll -- Another must-try. This roll has so much flavor and the perfect amount of crunch without being overwhelming. At only $10, it's honestly hard to pass up. I can definitely see myself ordering this every time I come back. Mula Roll -- This one is definitely on the pricier side at $28, but it's worth it. It's loaded with premium, incredibly fresh fish, including unagi and tuna, along with avocado and savory sauces. The fish was buttery and fresh, with a subtle kick of heat that brought everything together. Definitely a roll for anyone who likes richer, more flavorful sushi. KB4 Roll -- A great combination of spicy tuna, yellowtail, albacore, and salmon. What I really liked was that the fish was served chunky rather than finely minced, so you could actually appreciate the different textures and flavors. The fish was incredibly fresh and practically melted in your mouth. Absolutely delicious. Overall, Chiba is a hidden gem in the Valley and easily one of the better sushi spots I've tried. Between the quality of the fish, the flavors, the portions, and the friendly service, it's a place I'll definitely be coming back to. Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Overall: 10/10 -- Highly recommend! If you're in the Valley and looking for a new sushi spot, put Chiba on your list. You won't regret it.

Overall, Id get sushi from here again and if theres an off chance no one is there, my husband and I would def love to chitchat with while receiving our orders and eating in-front of him bar style. There was no option on the website to cancel, but since I was already at the resturant I decided to cancel in person. When I tried cancelling this is what happened, a server cancelled my order in the kitchen, despite me being unable to cancel the payment part, was made to wait an additional 20 minutes (The total wait time was an hour) while never once being able to directly speak with a mananger, also while I waited the server sheepishly avoided eye contact with me, was then given the managers phone # to resolve the issue later in the evening only to never be contacted, got a notification two hours later that my order was picked up (impossible), had to go in the next morning, finally talked to the manager, was forced to wait an additional 20min while being ignored only to find out that this whole time I had to contact doordash or corporate. Time I could have gotten back if the people were up front about being unable to resolve the issue in store. All the while I was dealing with issues of pain and so was not prepared for a task as simple as a refund to be a two day journey. Now my main issue is not so much with the workers at the branch, I think corporate is largely to blame for this situation. My only critiques of the service are as follows: If you didn't have an answer, just say you don't know or you can't do that. Don't cancel an order in the kitchen until the customer cancels the order in the app. If your making a customer wait, just occasionally acknowledge them so they don't feel forgotten or like they are being avoided. I'm not new, I use to work in customer service and I've been made to wait before, but generally someone just occasionally gives you a fake smile and says "we're still working on it" and don't sheepishly try to avoid eye contact. For corporate my issues are as follows. On the website you should give an option to cancel the order, and if not at least make it clear to the customer that they have to contact DoorDash. The phone number you posted in the 'Help Me' section, it's a dead number. Doesn't seem unreasonable to give you restaurant branches the ability to cancel or edit orders at store locations. If corporate can't do that, you should let your employees know that issues like that needs to be handled either through corporate or doordash to save time. The stores are clearly understaffed and so employee's are unable to problem solve when issues come up because they are busy. If properly staffed, this problem could have been handled relatively quickly. In the past when I was so inconvenienced by the service, restaurants usually either waived the fee, offered free items or a gift card, because they actually cared. To be offered nothing, not even a proper apology def. Makes me feel like SilverLake Ramen doesn't really give a crap about anything but making money.

Long story short, my wife was starting to sweat so she wanted to be inside with some A/C. So far, so good. Our waiter was so awesome, but it was his first day, so understandably, he made a couple of very minor mistakes that were easily fixed. He brought out a dish we did not order (which he swapped for the correct one) and he forgot to bring the cocktail that my wife ordered. Again, no big deal. Now... the food. If you are looking for a sushi restaurant, this is not for you. They do have some sushi, but it is very limited, and frankly the options they did have were wildly overpriced. Selling salmon sashimi for $40 is a huge ask. As for the atmosphere, it's a pretty sharp looking space, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but they leave all the windows and doors open at all times, so if it's a warm evening, you're going to be hot even if you sit outside. Also, the music gets progressively louder as nightfall progresses, so it can be tough to have a conversation without shouting. Bottom line, if you're looking for a good sushi spot, there are half a dozen other places within walking distance that are, in my opinion, much better. If you're looking for a wider variety of Japanese cuisine, and have a few hundred extra dollars lying around, then go ahead and give Taisho a try.
