The waiter was talking in a tired voice. The service is ok, could be better. The food was not the best. The takoyaki was under cooked. The cowboy bone was cold and tough to chew. The tempura shrimp was undercooked. The beef skewer was cold and tough to chew. The beans in the red bean ice cream were not sweet at all. The only good thing is the vanilla ice cream, and the spicy and non spicy crab sushi. The chicken wings were dry and had no flavor. There was barely any noodles in the udon it was mostly soup. The food takes a long time to get to you and it's usually cold. The food made me feel like not eating anymore. Definitely not coming back soon. And you are required to give them a tip. Blaine and Antoine said it best, "Hated it!" Had never been to Osaka Sushi before and I really wanted to give it a chance, since I was craving a nice hot teriyaki dish. As soon as I saw the (small) plate of beef teriyaki that was set down before me, I became quite skeptical whether the cooking staff knew what teriyaki was supposed to look like. The beef had the appearance of a sliced-up Steakum, and the meat's consistency pretty much tasted like it. Plus, judging from the cool temperature of the cooked meat, I can only guess that the cook took the meat right out of the freezer, slapped it on the grill and within seconds scraped it off and flopped it onto the platter. The teriyaki sauce was nothing to write home about either. The second dish I ordered was shrimp teriyaki and I was fairly dreading its impending arrival. But I held out some sliver of hope because my appetite had been left in the lurch from the first dish. As the shrimp teriyaki came into view, I'm uncertain whether or not the waiter noticed my unmistakable grimace. I could just tell that the shrunken, poorly-breaded shrimp were going to taste like styrofoam peanuts. I just knew it. So as soon as I bit down on one of the shrimp and started to taste the fried breading that coated the morsel, my brain immediately formed a supremely unfavorable opinion of not only the dish, but the whole shoddy enterprise called "Osaka Sushi". Don't recommend bringing kids they will charge you for it as an adult they need to update their prices they have 2 different prices for kids ages on the menus and In the front as you walk in. They also measure your kids height by the front door which I don't think is a little unprofessional and a little weird and the portions they bring out to you I don't think are worth the price because they are very small portions especially for being a hibachi place. The stage was set as we walked into the restaurant for lunch--one of the customers vomited their whole meal as we walked by. From this point, we set our already low expectations even lower--a sushi place that charges you only $13 for all you can eat can't be that great. When I first heard about the all you can eat sushi buffet at Osaka, its needless to say I was a little skeptical. I thought the sushi was going to be prepared in advance and sit in buffet trays, BUT luckily it wasn't! The sushi was good, but not great. I would describe it as a step above college café sushi (if your university offered it), but again, IT'S ALL YOU CAN EAT FOR $13! The main component (the rice) is nicely seasoned with vinegar and warm most of the time. The fish was thankfully neither warm nor tasting like it was frozen. It may not have been the freshest fish, but at least tasted good. The rolls, on the other hand, depend on which you order. I've been here twice and have noticed that the popular rolls--like spicy salmon and spicy tuna--taste like they've been sitting for a while, but the rarer rolls like the fried banana roll is always at the ideal temperature. This confirms for me that if you order a limited amount of one roll, the rest of the sushi is placed to the side until another customer order it. This is the biggest caveat from the sushi available at the restaurant. On the other hand, the sashimi is good. The temperature it is served at still depends on the popularity. But in a way, this is a good thing--it makes you explore and try new things most people wouldn't. However, the best part is that the $13 includes a ton of other items such as assorted tempura, appetizers, ice cream, and noodles. So, this is also a noodle and ice cream buffet. Some of the more interesting items available are the salmon head, salmon neck, and salmon belly. But stay away from the skewer beef. It is completely unseasoned, gummy, and tasteless. After asking about the menu, telling the server, being super up front etc...server did not make sure the the food order was marked gf, or did not check with the chef, whatever - delivered food I could not eat to the table. Once is totally understandable. But after receiving THREE dishes I could not eat, it was 40 minutes into our all-you-can-eat time and we tried to leave and just pay for our drinks - because we couldn't eat any of the food!! The manager tried to charge us the full price for the all you can eat, did not apologize for any allergy issues - even though I could have made a much bigger deal about that - and only after I made a slight scene in front of other customers did he allow us to leave. A friend recommended this AYCE (All You Can Eat) Sushi bar and I could never turn down a recommendation for an AYCE. First impression as you walk in is that everything is fairly modern, everything is very clean and well kept. The staff greet you as you walk in. You can choose AYCE or a-la-carte, personally I recommend going with AYCE. It isn't like your traditional buffet where the food is premade and sits out drying out. The food is made when you order it and brought over by your waitress. Your waitress will take your order and they bring your food out to you as it is made. We were very full and pleased with the food and service we received. Everything came out quickly and tasted great. The sushi rice was nice and soft, not dry or hard like at places that pre-make their sushi. There wasn't one thing that we ordered that we wouldn't order again. Came here with a group of 4. We did the "All you can eat" sushi about an 2 hours before they closed. So, there was ample time for us to order and eat. The restaurant wasn't too busy, maybe a few other tables of 2-3 a piece. A typical restaurant night. We ordered a first round of sushi and enjoyed it - it took 45 mins for them to make it and bring it to us though and I was surprised at the long wait time given how sparse the restaurant was of customers. It was explained to me that Osaka does this routinely, they make you wait ungodly amounts of time when you buy the "All you can eat", so your stomach digests and you're less hungry, thus, they don't have to feed you as much. It's all basically a scam. So, we ate our first round of Sushi and the young girl comes over with an iPad and asks us for our next order. We tell her what we'd like and she tells us the order is placed and should be right out. We wait and wait and wait for what seems like an hour. After checking, it sure as heck is over an hour and they're now only 30 mins from closing. We usher the young girl back over to us and ask where our order is. She just shrugs and says "I don't know what you're talking about" "Kitchen just closed sorry" and comes back with a $100 check. $100 for WHAT? This place is a downright SCAM! Cancelling with my card company and I'd hope no one else has to deal with this. It seems they use the language barrier concept to hide behind the blatant scam they are pulling on customers. I'm reaching out to the NYS Board as well to notify them of Osaka's scamming practices. $100 FOR WHAT? What did I eat? 2 pieces of a Rochester Roll and half of a shrimp roll for $100? It's a great lunch time price and has a decent amount of options to choose from. Although even with the cheap price I wouldn't suggest going here. I went when it was around half full and waited significantly longer than expected or the server to take our order or refill water. The sushi was okay but the seaweed salad was pretty good. Came here for the first time last week. I currently live in Henrietta so a lot of the local sushi places are generic and "fishy" however I was pleasantly surprised! I did the all you can eat deal and it truly was all you can eat appetizer followed by meal as much as you want and a dessert if you still have room at that point. Last week my wife and I decided to check this place out because we drive by it a lot. We went inside and got seated right away. It was dinner time and I think most people come here for lunch. We both got the all you can eat for $22 each person. The food was good and the staff was very friendly. The only downfall is its kind of pricey for dinner. The apps were delicious and the sushi was very fresh. This is close to my office and very good. The price is outstanding! I will be back for sure. There is a lot to choose from on the menu that is included in the price including desserts. And if you have little children from 11 and under they have kids pricing which is outstanding too. I went with one of my friends who has type 1 diabetes, so she limits the amount of carbs she can eat. When she had some rice on her plate (not even a 1/4 cup of rice), they tried to force her to eat it and they refused to give her more sushi. They said if she can't eat all the rice then she needs to get something else besides sushi. They were very rude about it and the manager came over and told us it was "the law" and she should try to eat it.
