Nando is the sweetest! We walked up and he greeted us at the door. Looking at the full patio I told him we had been hoping for a table outdoors. He said "give me a minute," and in just that time he and a couple of other guys brought out a table and 2 chairs and set us right up. So sweet! We ordered the seared scallops appetizer, and for entrees the Boeff Bourguignon and the Lamb chops. For drinks, the house martini and the cucumber basil martini. They initially brought me the cucumber basil sangria and I just thought they ran out of martini glasses so I didn't say anything...even though they served it on ice. I drank nearly half of it before asking Nando what it was. He said "what did you order?" When I told him he said "then we will give you cucumber basil martini!" When I asked again what was in my glass, he said "I don't know what that is but you did pretty good!" Oop. He generously comped me the martini. And also brought us Creme de Menthe when we finished our meals. So sweet. All in all, fantastic experience. Eclectic for sure. From an Osteria we expected Italian food but the menu was largely French. Yet the website describes the restaurant as Mediterranean and, indeed, they did serve us pita and tzatziki. I seriously don't know why I don't come to Osteria Nando more often! They have the best service and very accommodating and to top off, the food is delicious! We went with a group of 5 persons on a Friday night, and we had some accommodations that we needed, such as vegan options and catering to fully cooked dishes. Our main server, Davide was excellent in making sure we were taken care of! We ordered Octopus in tomato sauce, truffle fries (vegan! No cheese), eggplant hummus, escargot, chicken parm, braised short ribs, cauliflower vegan bowl, mushroom vegan bowl and the vegan ravioli. Wow! All of the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious and on point! We all loved the bowls (obviously!) and the braised short ribs were major highlights. The chicken parm was delicious but the portion was so small. Not enough chicken parm and too much pasta. On top of it all, Davide gave us tiramisu and grappa to end our wonderful evening. The smoked salmon benedict was quite good, although the thin English muffin base was a bit of a disappointment. Came in around 7:30 pm with 3 friends, after having spent a glorious afternoon at the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. One friend was visiting from out of town. We were all hungry but not starving, and 2 of us are not exactly "on a budget," but not inclined to spend big bucks. Two of us each had a glass of wine, two of us stayed with water. All of us ordered one of this restaurant's excellent bowls. Two ordered the charred broccoli and charred cauliflower bowl, one without the quinoa, which was no problem. The other two ordered the grilled mushrooms bowl. One of each ordered the grilled chicken add-on. Everyone loved their dinner! I was the grilled mushrooms with the added chicken. I was very pleased with the delicious variety of mushrooms and green vegetables - green beans, peas, cippollini onions, broccoli. The sauce that was served on the side with each person's bowl was an absolutely delicious lemon sauce. When 1 friend asked for another serving of that sauce, they brought it right over. After ordering, they brought the 2 wines to the table and served a small dish with pita triangles and a small tzatziki dip. Very good. The dessert menu looks really good; I expect to visit again with my husband and I know we'll share a dessert. Tonight all 4 women opted out. We ate early, so there was no wait, either getting a table or getting oir food. It did seem to fill up after we got there, so a reservation probably makes sense. The entrees, however, left something to be desired. The seafood risotto was rich with seafood, which was a nice contrast from some of the stingier seafood dishes in other restaurants. But overall, it was heavy without a lot of flavor. And the cacio e pepe was not especially noteworthy, outside of some pepper and LOTS of salt. Service was great, everyone was super attentive and friendly. The space itself feels a bit like an old Italian (and French? and Mediterranean?) restaurant, with dim lighting, dark wood furniture, and wine bottles lining the walls. Might be a nice choice for a dinner, but prepare for heavy dishes that won't necessarily stand out. read more

The restaurant you were originally gonna go to just gave you a 90 minute wait. You're searching for another restaurant to go to, and your friend finds an upper scale Italian place across the street. You go "Well, what other options do we have?" And you decide to check it out. That was the situation me and my two buddies were in last night. We were tired, hungry, and kinda demoralized. So when we walked into Osteria Nando and were seated right away (despite it being a busy Saturday night) we knew we were in for a treat. Service was beyond impeccable. Despite it being a packed dinner service, my party and I didn't have to wait long for service. Our server was friendly and charismatic, and we honestly felt right at home despite not knowing this place existed 15 minutes before. Food and drinks came out quickly, and they were perfect. We ordered the Steak au poivre and lobster ravioli, alongside a few cocktails. The steak was cooked beautifully and seasoned to perfection. Even the fries were seasoned well. The lobster ravioli was to die for, and the server even brought over some shredded parmigiana. The drinks were a bit on the stronger side, which can be a plus or minus depending on your taste. And to top it all off, our serve brought us a tiramisu on the house! It was delicious of course. I'm not sure when I'll be on the upper east side again, but when I do come by that neck of the woods, Osteria Nando will definitely be one of my stops for the day. read more

They start you off with pita bread and a ranch like spread. I got a Brussel sprouts hash from the brunch menu - it was tasty and the potatoes were nicely seasoned as well. My friend got the salmon benedict which came with a spicy aioli that paired nicely with these potatoes even if they may not have been intended for it. I also sampled the seafood risotto (good) and the squid ink pacherri carbonara which may have been my favorite. It is a small portion but filling due to the creaminess. Most of us also got dessert. The Paris brest filling was nutty and tasty although I'm not the biggest fan of eclairs. The chocolate souffle was gooey and the ricotta pistachio cake was delicate with moist cake layers that will appeal to those who doesn't want anything too sweet. Don't let the scaffolding fool you! This place is an underrated gem on the UES! We loved our dinner here and highly recommend it! I made a reservation on Yelp for 6 people for a Sunday evening. We arrived, there were a few other tables and we were happily greeted by Justin who took great care of our party. I ordered the beef bourgeon and it was AMAZING! It was served in a gigantic iron skillet and fell apart! The sauce was incredible and it wasn't too salty! My boyfriend had the homemade pasta with short ribs which he loved! Other delicious dishes at our table were the lemon burrata ravioli in truffle cream sauce (small portion but delicious), the filet mignon (biggest filet I've seen served for the price point) and the lobster special with squid ink pasta! We were able to relax and casually enjoy our meal in the intimate setting. We ordered a bottle of wine but they had tons of great cocktails too! At the end, Justin brought out a complimentary piece of tiramisu for me since we were celebrating my birthday and allowed us to try a glass of red wine that he recommended! Overall, I was so impressed by this spot! I'd highly recommend the food and the atmosphere for a casual date night, special occasion dinner or just a night out! The pasta was perfectly cooked and ragu was fantastic. Of course I wish the portion was bigger but that's because it was that good. Came in here after a show at the comic strip around 10 ish because we didn't want our date to end. They have happy hour and brunch as well. Nice little outside seating. Very cozy and intimate, a dressed up for dinner kind of place with French Mediterranean cuisine. My date and i sat at the bar, and the young man was very pleasant. I had a glass of wine and ordered the oysters while my date had the scallops. The oysters were very fresh and tasty and paired well with my wine. My date couldn't stop raving about the scallops, and they WERE good!! They also came with pita bread on the site, but it was the sauce that brought everything together; it was bursting with flavor, and I was surprised. When I called to make a reservation for some friends and me, I spoke to Justin who assured me we would have a fabulous evening. I was looking for a place to celebrate Passover and came across Osteria Nandi. Seeing great reviews I made a reservation right away. Upon arrival we were immediately seated. The staff were friendly and the ambiance was intimate. We ordered the lamb chop & brazing. Both were amazing. The skin on the brazino was crispy. The olive caper sauce had just the right amount of saltiness to build on the other flavors of the dish. The broth was light and overall it was delicious. My only question was went only one piece? For $32 i expect a little more in portion. In pictures posted by others there were two. Hmm... The lamb was prepared medium as requested. It came with 4 pieces and a nice mash & side of spinach. The dish was flavorful and tasty. My bro had the same question. for $38, should the portion be slightly larger, specifically the meat on the lamb chop. The souffle was very good though i would describe it more as a chocolate molten lava cake. I did love everything and would come back... I hope the portion size of other dishes are slightly more filling. read more

In all honesty, we booked this reservation last minute and didn't expect much. It beat all expectations. I didn't take great photos, but as a party of 7, 4 people had the hangar steak, 2 had the burger, and I had the Alexandria salad (beet salad with arugula and blue cheese?). The only thing I'd say is that the advertised cuisine is very confusing - Mediterranean, French, and Italian. We got random naan with some tzatziki - both great - as complements for the table. But, idk why they are trying to combine these different cuisines and food styles. I'd just say, pick French/Mediterranean fusion, scale the menu down to the hits, and go on from there. The menu is unnecessarily big, they don't need all those items. Pick the top items and focus on making them incredible/something that people are missing in their life. Came here for Saturday brunch - the restaurant was empty when we arrived so we had some hesitation, but the experience was great! The service and food were excellent and the ambiance was rustic and relaxing. We got seated in the corner angle of the restaurant with a great spot for placing our baby/stroller. We were served promptly with multiple iced cappuccinos for our group and an array of appetizers including the eggplant hummus and pita, and Greek salad for the table. The appetizer portions were a little small, but the entrées were quite sizable. Most of our table ordered vegetable bowls - a number of them on the menu with diverse combinations including eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms and spinach leaves. I ordered the avocado toast with feta cheese on top, well toasted bread and a side of toasted potatoes. The indoor decor also sets a dramatic stage for the meal, with stellar lighting and artistic walls. Had brunch here on a recent Sunday. The place is pretty, and it wasn't too noisy. Our party got the Brussels sprout hash, which they liked, and the classic benedict which was just ok and even had some eggshell in it. Most of the staff were very pleasant and accommodating, but one blond woman, whose role I did not catch, was very obnoxious. I saw her behind the bar once or twice so she does work there. She stood at the head of a table of newly arrived young women and seemed to be welcoming them, but she went on for quite a while like she was their personal entertainment. She was pretty much shouting, with a lot of political content about how she loves Trump and thinks JD Vance is hot. We were across the room and had no trouble hearing her. Well, a little deceit here--if you paid cash you saved a 4% CC add-on--not a saving.
