Stumbled upon this gem in the middle of the river walks at San Antonio. We just landed and we were looking for something to eat. We ordered the oyster, clam chowder soup and their lobster roll! Oh my goodness! I wasn't expecting that I would be impressed with their lobster roll but I devoured that lobster in less than five minutes lol. Service was excellent! We were well taken care of and the scenery was nice especially you see the people walking in the river.

This review is for the bar only. We were visiting San Antonio and venturing through the Riverwalk when the humidity and the crowds just became too much. We decided to duck into Ostra as it looked very inviting from the sidewalk and was not very crowded. We found two seats at the bar. First, the bar itself is very nice. The bright blue lit bar top is beautiful. Our bartenders were Guillermo and Juan. They were both very friendly and attentive. I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese olives and asked for the martini to be shaken and served very cold. It was served as requested and to the rim. Guillermo delivered. My husband ordered a margarita and he said it was delicious. Not too sweet and it had tajin on the rim. While we ordered additional cocktails, Juan took time educating us on the various tequilas they stock and how certain types of tequilas are used or recommended in various cocktails or should be a sipping tequila. It is an oyster bar and we were offered to taste their oysters although we declined. They have a person who pulls together some impressive. They were quite beautiful. Overall we had a great experience and plan to come back next time we are in San Antonio.

Ostra is a wonderful place to dine if you're looking for fresh seafood right on the riverwalk. The outdoor seating was fantastic, as was the food. The service was 10/10! So friendly and accommodating.

Eating on the river walk is always a treat if you love people watching. And if Peter is your server, you're bound to enjoy your meal as he recommends great dishes. p.s. try the pistachio ricotta cake!

Perfection! For starters, water was actually amazing and very refreshing, service was great! Our waiter was Peter and he was very considerate and attentive. Food was scrumptious, and everyone got their own little Heinz ketchup bottles. Nice environment as well.

A very cool place to hangout and people watch not to mention be treated like royalty while you enjoy the fine dining. The inside seating area is really nice with ample lighting and clean looks. The main reason why I decided to check this place out was mostly down to the location. It's situated on the River and pretty close to the Alamo, As far as the menu goes I think it's well balanced with a good selection of meats and seafood. I particularly like the clam linguini, which was done to perfection. The appetizer was also really amazing with a nice dish of fresh Calamari along with noodles which was well presented. I'd like to give a special mention to our server "Yaya" who really made our visit to Ostra that much more memorable.

This place is lovely. We went for restaurant week. If the weather had been warmer, I would have chosen to eat outside right on the River Walk, next to the Selena Bridge. Our server was very friendly. We enjoyed our meal.

A friend and I went in for dinner and sat at the bar. I was expecting really great service and memerable food based on other reviews, but I was highly disappointed! We asked what kind of oysters they had in the bartender didn't know. Luckily the chef came out and took some time to talk about the oysters. Once we got them, they were delicious. To go with the oysters we ordered dirty martinis with blue cheese olives. The bartender didn't chill our glass. He also never came back to take our order any further. We finally cashed out and left. I will say, on a positive note, the chef was really nice and knowledgeable and the staffer working on sucking the oysters took some time to talk to us about the seafood he was making. I also thought the ambience was good for a date night. Also, the bar chairs were really comfortable.

The brunch was tasty and service was great. It is not the best brunch place in San Antonio but this was a great option before heading to the spa. We loved our bartender at the rooftop cafe which is also located in the Mokara Hotel.

Came here for lunch. We had the Cobb salad, which was really good. We also had the lobster and shrimp tacos, they were a bit small but very tasty. Had the yogurt parfait as a dessert and it was great. We will definitely return.

Meeting in the middle because the location is great. Food, not so much. Ordered the Migas which says "gf" and they brought me out Flour tortillas to go with it. Luckily I questioned before I ate. If something says "gf", please don't serve gluten with it. The eggs didn't have any flavor and it was $$$.

We had our anniversary dinner here. We sat outside on the Riverwalk great view. Decorated very upscale. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. My husband had the steak and I had the shrimp cocktail for my dinner. The restaurant treated us to a very yummy lavender cake for our special occasion. Bit pricey but very good

So, we didn't plan a trip to San Antonio. But, due to circumstances beyond our control, here we are. Now, we consider ourselves "foodies" and travel A LOT, so I wasn't expecting to have theBEST lobster roll I've ever tasted- in TEXAS! What made it great you ask? The balance of delectable lobster filling to the perfectly toasted buttered roll. And, the best Parmesan truffle fries EVER too. You know it's going to be good when the aroma of truffles wafts up to your nose as it gets placed on the table in front of you. Not to mention the freshly grated Parmesan just floating on top like soft white fluff Service, great. Thank you Gilbert, and thank you Steven for caring enough to check on us . If there was one tiny detail that could be improved on, it's the timing out of the kitchen, but even then, it was worth the wait. Either way with all the restaurants located on the RiverWalk, we picked a real gem.

It was clear we were in the right spot. The curtains were drawn when we arrived, creating a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Then, after the sun set over the Bexar County Courthouse, the curtains were opened and we were treated to a beautiful view of the River Walk. The timing couldn't have been more perfect -- it completely elevated the evening. Service was outstanding. Toryn was our server, and his approach was relaxed, friendly, and professional. He checked in periodically without ever being intrusive, and our water glasses were refilled constantly without us having to ask. The entire front-of-house team worked seamlessly together and made us feel genuinely taken care of. We also were given a lovely bread service. And the food -- absolutely delicious. The starters were phenomenal and set the tone for the meal. The meats were cooked perfectly -- flavorful, tender, and beautifully executed. Every course felt thoughtful and well-prepared. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, Biga on the Banks exceeded expectations. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience on the River Walk. Five stars all the way.

For such a high priced place the service is not even close to commensurate. Feels more like a Applebees level service. Additionally, things like serving bread that is cold, overcooking the meat - despite being supposedly the chefs preferred and recommend temp! The only nice option is that there is a 3 course fixed price menu that is relatively decently priced if you are ok with the options. But your meat won't be cook properly. Big pass from now on.

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

Typically when you sit down at the yard house bar, the bartenders usually clean off the bar with a wet towel and remove the sticky beer/food from the previous patrons and then put down the place settings and black napkin settings. None of that happened. They also always card everyone in the party, I didn't see them card anyone in the bar this night. While there were plenty of staff (in different color shirts - white, black and grey) behind the bar not one person said hello, welcomed anyone on our side of the bar or made eye contact. They were more focused on cleaning the glasses than taking our order. It was just odd. Getting past that, I enjoyed the local cider selection (kiwi strawberry) and my husband enjoyed the Belgium golden ale house beer). Food was great as well we enjoyed the boneless wings Korean style, Miguel's queso and ahi sashimi. Delicious. I also enjoyed the music videos playing on one of the tvs that was so fun. Bathrooms were clean but both needed work. In the women's, I noticed the vacant/occupied switches were not in working order as some of the signs said occupied but they were not; and the ones that said vacant were occupied. My husband noticed that there was no soap or towels in the men's bathroom. It's the little things. Even if you are crowded you should be staffed well enough to take care of these things.

Unfortunately, the experience changed once we were seated. Our waiter was incredibly short and came across as rude throughout the meal. When we asked for recommendations or some of his favorite menu items, his response was essentially, "I don't know what you like," rather than offering any guidance. The service somehow felt rushed even though the food itself came out slowly, and there were very few check-ins during the meal. When it came time for dessert, we asked to see a dessert menu and were simply told, "It's on the menu you have," which summed up the lack of hospitality we experienced at the table. I ordered the Mustang Chicken, and unfortunately it was very disappointing. The chicken was fatty, full of tendon, and tasted more like a frozen piece of chicken that had been dropped into a deep fryer than something I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. It's disappointing because the restaurant has a great atmosphere and our experience at the bar started off so well. Unfortunately, between the table service and the quality of the food, I would not recommend Cappy's based on this visit.
