The quality of the food this restaurant serves has been hit and miss over the years that I have been going. This time it was not quite a miss or a hit. I ordered blooming onion, bone in New York strip, caesar salad, fries, and a Wallaby Darned mixed drink. Everything tasted good, but my steak temperature was way off. I ordered a medium well and received a rare steak. I would have sent it back, but I was 1/4 done with it before I realized. No one asked me how my steak was. There was a manager named Mark that spent 90% of his time talking to a couple in the bar that was next to our table. He made sure they were having a good experience but didn't bother to make sure everyone else at the restaurant was having a good experience. They must have been friends or family to him, but do your job when your at work. read more

We went here on a busy Saturday night. Our wait was short,but I would recommend getting a reservation especially on weekends or if you have a big group. For our appetizer, we ordered the Aussie Signature Sampler. This appetizer includes Bloomin' onion petals, Mac & Cheese Bites and Cheese Fries. ($9.99) It is a good portion and we had to get it boxed up so we would still have room for our entrees. For my entree, I ordered the Queenland Chicken and Shrimp Pasta, which has grilled chicken and noodles with Parmesan cheese sauce. The pasta was delicious. My other half ordered the Melbourne Porterhouse steak with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. His steak was cooked just right and was a very large portion. The service was good for a busy Saturday night. Very disappointing visit. Food was just okay. Service slightly better. The negatives were MY food. First steak ordered medium rare was medium to well done. Sent back. Server returned with steak that was closer to raw and full of gristle. Would not eat, took home for my dog who was filled with joy over such a treat. When I got home, I could barely cut it up for him using a sharp steak knife. I remember years ago when Outback in Fort Wayne opened it used to be one of my favorite places. (Yes, I am that old). Steaks were always high quality, perfectly served to the desire temperature and dinners were pleasant with great servers who really cared about the customer. We used the check in feature on our phone app and when we arrived we were offered a booth or table option. We chose booth and we're then told it would be an additional 15 minutes so I said table would be fine. Then they tried to seat our family of 5 at a 4 top, that they were raising the ends on, but it was so close to another table the end touched the back of one of their chairs. We spotted two empty large booths and said we would wait for a booth. A few inches later we were taken to one of the empty booths. I'm unsure why these were not an option the first time? We didn't have much time to glance at the menu before Cory, our server got our drink order. He was very prompt at getting drinks and our order taken. We got bread and a refill on bread. My husband and daughter both ordered soup. My husbands came but not daughters. I just thought they were bringing it with the meal because she was sharing her dinner with her sister. No, they brought a loaded baked potato rather than baked potato soup. They corrected. We were offered more bread, but it never got delivered. Also, did not get drink refills, half of my meal and my daughters was spent with an empty glass. Offered a refill on next visit to our table by server when he asked if we wanted dessert. Overall food was good. The fries weren't the best, chewy and lukewarm. But it was some of the best broccoli I've had at a restaurant, cooked through, and hot. The steaks, were cooked mid to mid well (asked for medium rare), we're seasoned well, but a bit dry and chewy. Coconut shrimp, delicious. Grilled shrimp, left a lot to be desired. It was like barely boiled shrimp, not cooked through and not even Grill marks. Piled with some sort of tomato onion combo. Yuck. The thing that I was not a fan of, wad the hamper full of dirty napkins sitting right in the entry to the kitchen. And the rug on the floor coming out of the kitchen was pushed up against the wall creating a slip/trip/fall hazard. I don't like looking at my own dirty laundry, I certainly don't want to look at someone else's while I'm dining out. Also, cringed every time someone walked in or out of the kitchen because of that rug. You can see both in the photo I've included. One more thing, a lady kept pushing a tray holder with a tray on it up and down the aisles collecting dirty plates. It was rough on the ears. And just flat out looked lazy. Went here for our anniversary and really enjoyed it. The service was fast and friendly, the food was great and hot, and our waitress was informed about the food. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable. I had sirloin and coconut shrimp and the steak was a perfect medium rare. We had the steak dip for our appetizer and it was SO good. My husband had the chicken and shrimp pasta, which was good, too. We have always enjoyed Outback, but do not go often due to the ridiculous location. Ordered Shrimp on the Barbie. Did not get the barbie with the shrimp...ONLY shrimp. After eating 3 of the shrimp realized the shrimp was half done. Some hours later, I began to get nausea, diarrhea and some abdominal pains. Day 2, Slept alot because I was weak and still had nausea. Day 3 still weak and nausea. Alice Springs Chicken Service was great!! I ordered Alice Springs Chicken and a sweet potato. Nothing else. The chicken was a mess and the cook decided to add heat. I cannot tolerate heavy spice and could not eat the chicken. It was sloppily prepared, overcooked, and was presented with two sweet potatoes. No where was the spicy character noted. I don't want to see a "pile" of messy food in a restaurant. The second sweet potato did not have butter or brown sugar, the way I had ordered the first one. So I had one sweet potato for dinner since the chicken was not as described. I scraped the cheese from the sides and edges of the plate and the mushrooms from under the sweet potato and took the whole thing home. We were with people we had not seen for a long time and I did not complain. Server was terrific. The restroom had a container with a toilet wand sitting out. The floor of the restaurant was slimy with the "cleaner of doom" used by restaurants about to fail. It was dangerously slippery and I cannot figure out why anyone uses that cleaner, but its use predicts the restaurant's future. Dirty floor, unpleasant cleaning practices, and poorly prepared food are not good portents for success. Do not spice up bland dishes!! Some of us LOVE bland food. Went for my husband's birthday dinner and holy cow. It was so bad that after we finally got out of there we had to go somewhere else to get food. First of all our waitress kept returning to our table to ask how we were doing without actually offering to take our order. I had to finally call her back and stop her from walking off in order to finally put in an order, usually she just came by asked us if we were good and walked off while we were responding. We had almost finished our appetizer (crab cakes) before finally being able to put in our order. For our entrees my husband ordered a steak and I ordered the steakhouse quesadilla. I also ordered a strawberry mojito. The steak was black when it came out, covered in spice and dry throughout. Except for a single corner that was bloody and not cooked at all. So spicy my husband had to cut it into pieces and swallow whole with his drink. His side of Mac-and-cheese had the same spice dumped on top of it and mixed throughout, rendering it inedible. My quesadilla had chunks of fat instead of meat strewn throughout with the same chard black spice that was used on his food. The fat was cold and congealed by the time I got my food, the cheese already hard and the tortillas soaked thru and stuck to the plate they arrived on. I also ordered a side of garlic butter shrimp, which came on a skewer and covered in the same spice everything else was, completely blackened without any butter or garlic apparent anywhere in the dish. My strawberry mojito didn't arrive until the end of the meal, and when it did it was a solid red. The bartender had blended the strawberries with the limes and mixed the entire thing together like some kind of margarita. It was nothing but sour pulp. Entire thing cost us over $80 and was completely unacceptable. It was also a Sunday night during peak dinner hours, but they weren't busy enough to warrant not knowing how to cook their food or god forbid mix a drink. Never returning, and once I've saved up the money to splurge on another birthday meal for my husband I'll be sure to pick a place we know we won't be burned at. read more

For some reason I'm not an 2018 elite member. Even though I post more than half the elites do. Anyway here's my review. Came here later in the night probably around 9pm. It wasn't very busy. Maybe 10 customers in the whole building. It took awhile for us to receive our food and our waitress failed to refill our drinks a couple time. We actually had to bring it to her attention. I was hoping for better service bc yelp is doing an event here that I wanted to go to. After the bad service and high price bill, I think I'll pass and spend my money somewhere else. read more

Ok normally don't review but this is one of my worst experiences eating out. Server was fine food though was horrible. Ordered the chicken sandwich and a kids cheese burger meals. First different server brought the wrong food fine3 minutes later right food came. Ok cut my chicken sandwich in half took a bite it was cold not Luke warm cold. I sent it back. 5 minutes later different server brought back the same sandwich heated up now the small chicken tender is dried out and hard as a rock on the ends. My son eat half of his cheese burger. So I asked if I could have the rest he said yes only for me to find the center to be raw. Haven't been to an outback in YEARS til recently. During quarantine noticed they have signs for takeout so 1 weekend decided to try it. It was great! Quality of the meat surprisingly good. I'm not crazy about the pepper seasoning on their filets but it was good. Last evening decided we needed to go out for dinner and went there with their limited seating. The new norm with at least 6 feet between tables. Ordered the same thing - filet but with no pepper. Outstanding! I only gave it 4 vs 5 stars because I thought it was a little pricey for an Outback. With tip $200 for family of 4 with a few apps and 1 adult beverage. Filets were done perfectly (my daughter and myself) My husband got the ribeye and son the salmon. All great. Will be going back. We went there for my wife's birthday. I have to admit my steak was excellent (boneless 12 ounce ribeye medium rare). The waitress forgot my lobster tail and I was aggravated at the fact that she must of picked out the smallest one (3 bites) available! I was also a bit unhappy waiting for the take out container when she was just standing around! My husband and I had the pleasure of attending a Yelp event here to help launch their new menu items. We were completely spoiled. The service was excellent. The staff was knowledgeable and were able to explain the new items clearly and concisely. The food: Steakhouse quesadilla was our first appetizer and let me tell you it was delicious! The ratio of cheese to meat was perfect! 3 point Rib Blooming Onion: First you can never go wrong with a blooming onion! The ribs fell off the bone. The fries were served with a melted shredded cheese blend on top. In my opinion I would just stick with a plain blooming onion. This reminded me of an appetizer sampler served on top of each other. Each food item tasted good and was easily shareable with the people at our table. Shrimp Topped Salmon: This item was also served with a chopped salad with bleu cheese vinaigrette dressing. I would HIGHLY suggest this salad because it was so tasty and I am not usually a fan of bleu cheese dressings. The salmon was served with a sauce and shrimp on top. The shrimp was cooked well and the sauce added a nice flavor. The salmon was flaky but not as moist as I would have liked but still had great flavor. Steak and Ribs: The ribs were served in three different flavors, bbq, Sriracha honey, and a dry rub. The rib meat fell off the bones while we were eating them! My favorite flavor was the sriracha honey! It does have some heat to it but it wasn't overwhelming. The steak was cooked well and had great flavor. Double Chocolate Mini Dessert: This dessert was my favorite part of the meal! It was served in a small glass dish similar to a mason jar. It include layers of chocolate mousse and Oreos! Save room for this dessert!! Alcohol: We were served the flight on a boomerang. Our servers also informed us on what beer would be best for each food item. We also were able to taste the strawberry rose sangria. I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was sweet with the right amount of rose flavor. Overall, our experience at Outback was wonderful. The staff was friendly and inviting. The food was flavorful and delicious. It is well worth checking out for the first time or giving another chance if you've checked it out before. read more

Everything was extremely greasy. We ordered a blooming onion and the plate had a pool of grease on it. Took 45 minutes to get our food at 5 pm when there were only 6 other tables. We were a party of two and several other groups sat down after us, had gotten their food, and wereleaving by the time our food showed up. Wife's steak came back bloody when asking for well done. The shrimp that came with the meal were sitting in a pool of grease and were dripping when she picked them up. Our server came back to check on us 20 minutes after food was delivered. Favorite area restaurant by far. Hasn't always been great, but since the new proprietor took over a few years ago it's been fantastic. The food is great, but if there are ever problems the staff work quickly to get it resolved. The staff is amazing, especially Devin, Lindsey, Amy & Allison... and of course, Mark. I usually get the sirloin, but my husband changes it up - his favorites are the salmon, the philly, and the kids Mac n cheese. I recently dined in at Outback with my dad and sister. I honestly always forget Fort Wayne has an Outback ....and I was reminded why. Service was friendly. Nothing over the top and I felt a tad rushed by our server. Pet peeve - when a server places the book on the table while you are still eating. Especially at a sit down, "higher-priced" restaurant. My dad was still finishing his meal when the book was placed right in front of him. Not a fan of servers who do this. Our bill was about $70 with waters, my sister and I splitting a 8 oz. steak and shrimp entree, and a 6 oz. steak and lobster meal for my dad. Some will argue that is cheap for surf and turf - but the quality spoke otherwise. I love red meat. I can say I am a well-seasoned red meat eater around town, and Outback would be the last place I suggest for a quality steak. The temperature was spot on but our sirloin was extra fatty, more than expected, and lacked flavor. I could've made it at home for way less and better flavor (which is not what you want when you are paying to go out to eat). The Caesar salad size portion was larger than I expected and then the $1 up charge for asparagus was disappointing as the asparagus was thin and there were about 5 pieces total... My dad did enjoy his steak and lobster so maybe we got the bad one out of the bunch. Atmosphere was nice and it was decently busy for a weeknight. The only thing I am willing to run back to Outback anytime soon for is the blooming onion. They still have that going for them. read more

I got the medallions medium rare and they were over cooked and so spicy I couldn't eat it. The Mac and cheese was so spicy as well it looked like the pepper shaker broke in the Mac and they just stirred it in. My fiancé got the ribeye was was supposed to be rare but was well over medium. My husband and I went to Outback for lunch today, we were celebrating his Birthday. Our server Terry, was amazing! He was very attentive, but not too attentive. Not overbearing. You can tell he serves for the love of it!! The food was prepared perfectly. A sign of a great server is to only have glasses on the table at the end of the meal. He did exactly that. We used to come here a lot but then they axed some of our favorite dishes. For my father's birthday, he wanted to come back and try it out. It was kind of a let down. My mother had the teriyaki steak medallions which were chewy and hardly had any teriyaki flavoring. Dad had the Alice Springs chicken, which he said was good as usual. I had the breaded shrimp, and they were okay but tasted like frozen shrimp. My wife had the Alice Springs chicken also but hers was a tad cold. I'm not sure what happened to Outback. It used to be a fun destination but now it's just kind of blah. The staff was nice and the place was clean, but maybe we're just over the contrived Australian shtick? I had to ask multiple times for my drink and they brought me the wrong drink, and when the table next to us spilled a drink no employees helped whatsoever.
