Stopped by a trusty Outback location as we were passing through Grand Junction. We were seated quickly, and our waitress was there in an instant to take our drink and food orders. My family and I have been going to Outback for quite a while, and it was usually pretty good. There was a time we were seated near the bathrooms and all you could smell was the strong air freshener scent plus the other not so good bathroom smell, but all of our other visits had been good. However, our first time back after covid was not a good experience. There was next to nothing on the menus. I understand downsizing, but with a menu as large as they usually have, they could put more than 5 items on the revised version. The worst part was the smell. I've been eating at Outbacks since they opened. In the past I could always count on good or better food quality and flavor. I could trust that I would have a good meal Since I moved to GJ, 7 years ago, I have not eaten there very often. I recently received a gift card a couple months ago, and have been there about 3 times in the last few months. The food just is not what it used to be. Unfortunately, an all to common phrase. In general the servers have always been very good. I ate there last week, and that meal was not very good. But it seems to be going from bad to worse. On my visit today, my unfortunate choice was the "Hearts of Gold Mahi," please refer to the menu description. The only good thing about the meal was the size of the portion of Mahi Mahi. The good ends there. The fish had no seasoning and it didn't look like it had been grilled. There was supposed to be a "light lemon sauce", but there was none. I had to ask for a cup of the sauce, which was almost flavorless. It was supposed to be topped with artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes and green onions. This was almost non-existent and were overcooked. There is no mention in the menu that the fish was served on a bed of seasoned rice. With that not known I ordered a side of seasoned rice. While it is seasoned, it is an extremely dry rice. The Mixed Veggies that came with the meal, were not served. I had to ask for them. They arrived and were cooked well, not overcooked. The problem is, it was almost like they had not been through prep service. The broccoli had woody stems, the pea pods were not trimmed, the carrots were rather woody and only the two tiny slices of squash were ok. The Ice Tea was fine for the first 2 glasses, then the 3rd was almost colorless, and tasteless. And one plus. The bread was good as usual. This restaurant obviously has a problem in the kitchen, and therefore with management that allows it to be served. As a restaurant manager you cannot just trust that the kitchen is doing a good job. Like a chef that should be tasting the food to maintain quality, the manager needs to be tasting the food also. This is not being done. read more

Our waitress looked like we disappointed her with our order. She brought delicious bread, our order, and refilled my husbands ice tea one time. Dined at Outback on 06/14/2016. I am still relatively new to the whole small town living and dining experience. I moved from Denver where it was easy to find a quality steakhouse and amazing dining experience. However, I have found it is hard to find here. Starting out the meal was great, we had an attentive waitress. The bread was great; the salads were crisp, fresh, everything a salad should be. We had a variety of cuts of meat and different sizes as our meals. Two of them had sauces on them and two didn't. The unfortunate part of the meal was that the steaks were luke warm at best. Those who ordered them medium to medium well were ok with it. But the two who had ordered well done were a little upset when they showed up lukewarm at the table. Then when the sauces put on the steaks happened to be cold causing them to be colder than the ones who ordered them medium we found it offputting. Our table wasn't the only table with the food in such condition other tables were also talking about it and complaining about it. I wrote off the temperature as having to deal with the sauces they advertised perhaps they should have them heated up or hot. Overall the food wasn't bad, or horrible, it was cool and not to temperature I expected from a nice steakhouse. read more

Do not use online ordering with this Outback Steakhouse. I placed an online take out order at 1:30pm. I was told it would be ready at 1:50pm with an email. I showed up a little before 2pm and was told that no one was at the Take Away desk and that my online order was not started. I had ordered wings and asked how long it takes to prepare the wings. I was told 6 minutes. 16 minutes later the wings finally showed up. Why offer online ordering when this restaurant does not actually look at the online orders. In addition, I was told the manager would be by to apologize but during my 16+ minute wait he never showed up. This particular Outback Steakhouse is poorly managed. read more

Was in town for a few days and hadn't been to outback in a really long time. I was pleased to see that they got a new menu and it is very easy to follow. Ordered a New York Steak wood-fire grilled, medium and it came out just how I wanted it. I honestly was surprised at how good it was. The Cesar salad I ordered on the side was also great, along with a loaded baked potato. I will definitely be going to outback more often after the experience I had here. read more

The Outback Steakhouse in Grand Junction is the worst Outback Steakhouse I've ever been to. They are quite possibly the worst restaurant in Grand Junction. Last two times I've been there it was terrible. My order was so badly messed up that I got mostly the wrong items. There menu options were not all available. The last time I was there two of the three of party got their meals but I never got mine...not even my salad I ordered. Everyone was done eating by the time they finally brought my dinner out. The manager apologized and only offered a free dessert to make up for my inconvenience. I think compensating me by adjusting the bill would have be more fair. I won't be back anytime soon. I suggest that if you want a good meal with friends go elsewhere. read more

Stopped at Outback on the first day of a vacation. I have never been more disappointed in an Outback. The first thing that the waitress told us is that they were out of tomatoes!!! Out of tomatoes, I happen to know that there are grocery stores in Grand Junction!! The salads were made with a lettuce that the description slimy is the best I can come up with. A young man with a small, Registered service dog sitting quietly under his table was ordered by the manager to Leave before he could finish his meal. The man politely tried to explain his seizure disorder due to diabetic low's but the manager continued to demand he leave! We went there today for lunch after my son had baseball and every other restaurant around was a 30+ min wait. We were able to get right in which should have been our first clue. They don't give out menus, which I get right now but my husband was having an issue getting the menu and looked on the device on the table yet the entrees weren't on it??? We ordered the cheese fries for an app which were good. We ordered our lunch, my husband had the halibut (which only comes with 1 side), I ordered the Cobb, and my son had the pasta. As empty as the place was it took WAY to long for our order to come out. My husbands dish was insanely small for the price!!! $24.99 for a small piece of fish and a scoop of potatoes...no soup or salad, no second side. My salad was decent but if I wanted chicken (which a traditional Cobb should have on it) it would have been extra. My sons pasta was not a traditional Alfredo sauce by any means. It was pretty oily and the chicken was just a full breast on top, I mean come on how hard is it to cut it up to put on the pasta? The only thing that saved the visit was our server was nice and took care of us but you're better off going next door to IHOP. read more

Was one of me and my wife's (THE BOSS ) favorite restaurant for prime rib for date night Fridays until there coolers broke down one night and apparently broke down when no one was there to notice because they still sold meat from the same cooler that had broken down because when they brought out our prime rib it smelled as if it was from a dead cows a$$ hole!! Asked the server to smell the nice piece of meat that they had brought us and after doing so all she could say was LET ME GET THE Manager! Well after waiting for about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting and smelling the cows a$$ hole she finally comes out. So we tell her everything was great as far as service goes but the prime rib was not smelling too good so she smelled it and tried telling us nothing was wrong with it so after telling her it was not what it was ever other time we have been there ( keep in mind we went there every Friday night for date night ) she still tried to tell us it was ok well than I asked why was there a refrigerated trailer right out the window that we were looking out of . she then lied that it was for keeping the stuff cold while the got the cooler fixed (the same cooler that was never broken to begin with) so we just decided to send the prime rib back and finish our drinks and go well while this is all going on I over herd the people behind us order the same as we did (prime rib) same sides and everything (talk about small world) and they brought out the same plates as the ones we just sent back !!!! Our experience here was less than subpar. It took us 30 minutes for our waitress to even introduce herself and another 15 to get waters. She proceeded to ignore us for the rest of our meal and didn't interact with our seat. What's even worse is that she tended to all her other tables much faster and deliberately avoided our table when we confronted her about the issue. Our meals came out pretty poorly also. The steak was cooked rare and had to be put back on the grill to make it to standard. My pasta was cold and salty as well. Had been driving all day and was ready for one of your great steaks. Sit down and about ten to fifteen minutes finally was asked what we wanted to drink. In about five to ten minutes we got that. Then ordered. After a long wait we got our food. The well done steak was almost medium rare. I sent it back. Ten to fifteen minutes I got it back. Blood still running. I sent it back. Before it could get back ten to fifteen minutes later I told the server to cancel and bring me a check. I told them I had another hour and a half to drive and was in a bit of a hurry. Finally the manager brought it to me with a to go box. I didn't want it but she insisted so I told her to put it in the box and give me the check. Looked down and she had taken 10.00 off. I paid. I was way late for my event waiting on their lousy service plus had to stop and get something to eat. The steak was cold and no utensils to cut it up with. I missed my event and went on to my hotel. I'm moving to that area in a month. You won't be getting my business. It's a shame because in Texas where I live we have good cooks and service. Decided to go back last night since we finally moved here. It was a lot better than it was but have a couple of things they could still work on. I'd give them a four star for last night Moved near this Outback and keep trying to give them a chance to get it right. I`m a little surprised by the bad reviews for this place. My husband and I go here a couple times a month and have never had any major issues. We don`t go to chains all that often but there aren`t many places to get ribs. The one time my order wasn`t complete the manager, Lisa, took care of it immediately. She let us use an expired coupon for a blooming onion. She was very helpful with suggestions for our meal. Lisa, the manager came by to make sure everything was good. We talked awhile and she said she was buying us desert. Unnecessary but very welcome. We have always been treated very well at this location. read more

I went to visit out back in grand junction to celebrate my daughter's birthday and as always did not disappoint me we had a really good time I had the 22 ounce rib eye and it was amazing my daughter had a good time the server was really friendly and knowledgeable I wouldn't pick another place to have a nice Juicy steak and great atmosphere I highly recommend it read more

This outback is making outbacks looks bad, that bobcock or whatever her name is that owner needs to step up, ordered $30 steak 40% of it was fat tangled with muscles and things super hard to cut through cause of all that, mac n cheese had no cheese or flavor in it like seriously?! Those are 2 things I love at outbacks, never going there again. Only the ones in Fort Collins and Cheyenne. Obviously they know what they're doing as their steaks are thick juicy and tender and mac and cheese has gooey tasty cheese in it!
