Today, my wife and I had a very special lunch experience. I have been physically impaired for a year and this is THE FIRST TIME I am out of the house in over a year. Sure, it was only a trip to my Doctor, but after, we could go out to lunch. A real treat that I was excited about! I have been thinking (obsessing) about meals at Outback, so my wife drove six miles out of our way to visit Ledgewood's Outback. I need a wheelchair and (surprise!) the restaurant is handicapped accessible. The hostess saw us coming and she rushed to hold both sets of doors for us. She led us to the first station, but I preferred a different (not better) table. 'No problem...' and she met my request. Our server was right on hand. I ordered several appetizers of my dreams and a drink. While waiting for our food, the manager (sorry friends! I forgot her name) came to chat & my wife mentions that this was my first outing. The manager was interested & thanked us for choosing Outback to beak my fast. The food came, the server was attentive, my appetizers and drink were (as anticipated) excellent!!! YES! I HAD A GREAT LUNCH! Sorry to see the meal finished, I requested the check. To my surprise, the manager came and told us she was compting the whole meal!! A PERFECT FINISH TO AN EXCITING DAT! This review is MOSTLY about our waitress, Priscilla, and is intended for the management. But, another mistake was made. I'll start with that. My sister lives in Ledgewood so every few months (for 4 years now!) I drive up there from central jersey and take her out to dinner at the Outback. We usually order the Ribeye and have not had a problem with it. This time, it was my sister's birthday and she decided to treat herself to the Filet Mignon -- Medium. I ordered the Ribeye, as usual, but asked for the smokey bourbon sauce on the side. When the food arrived I was missing the bourbon sauce. My sister pointed out that her filet was charred. The waitress waited while my sister cut into. She was delighted to see that it was pink inside, but after taking her first bite, she decided that it tasted burnt and sent it back. I reminded the waitress that I still needed the bourbon sauce. The waitress took the filet and returned a little while later with the new filet -- also charred! My sister didn't want to push the issue so she told the waitress that the meat was fine, but the waitress should've caught this. My sister did not eat the filet. She decided to take it home and said she would cut it up and put it on a salad. So much for her birthday dinner! In the mean time, I was enjoying my Ribeye -- still without the bourbon sauce. The next time we saw our waitress, she was cleaning off the table behind us. I reminded her about the bourbon sauce. My steak was half gone by this time. She ran off to get it. Then there was the wine. I ordered a glass of wine. I asked for a Merlot or Cabernet. She didn't say anything just nodded. My sister wanted one as well. The wine she brought us was delicious but we were shocked when we saw it on the bill. $25.99 for two glasses. Holy Crap! I usually pay $7 per glass! You don't bring a customer the top shelf stuff with out checking first. My bad for not specifying, but this was wrong. Of course, by the time I noticed, I had already signed the credit card receipt. Anyway ... as we sat and talked, the waitress started cleaning the booths behind us. not just wiping them down, but taking off the cushions and sweeping the floor around us. This too seemed wrong. If there were chairs she would have probably put them ontop of the tables! It was only 9 PM at this point. Finally, she brought the check and left. There was no pen. My sister and I kept talking but it was a good while before we saw her again so we could ask for the pen. Anyway ... The waitress was pleasant and in a good mood. I just don't think she was attentive to the details. She is the customer's advocate and should've made sure the Filet was not charred the first time, let alone the second time! She should've made sure we weren't surprised with the price tag of the wine she chose to bring us. She shouldn't have disturbed us with her extensive cleaning of the tables around us. So we came her last friday night with a group of 6. Seated pretty quickly and got our drinks. The waitress was pretty fun too, one of our friends gave up beer for lent and had to order a sangria, we were busting his chops that its he was ordering a bitch drink and when she came back to see how we were she asked him "How is your bitch drink?" We all laughed and the night went on. For food. if you order something rare its going to come rare. Which is a godsend. Some places cook rare to about medium and tell you its rare not here. Also probably my absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Ahi-seared tuna. Ive ordered the appatizer as a dinner before, its just that good. My friend who doesnt ear fish loved it, or at least i asume so since she ate about a quarter of it. There aussie fries are pretty good but i feel like every time i eat them im taking a year of my life. But if you think about it, thats probably going to just be a shitty year anyway. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years and this last visit was by far was the worst. The restaurant wasn't really busy that night so we thought we'll be in and out. 15-20 minutes sitting there no one acknowledged us at. We realize that our waitress was having a long and unprofessional conversation with a gentleman sitting next to us. I waived at her to get attention and she looked at me and proceeded to her conversation. So we decided to leave and eat somewhere. As we were leaving, my wife ran into the manager and explain the situation and the look that she gave us was of not a care of the world. Sad because we really like the food. Honestly, I am only giving this locations 5 stars because the manager working tonight, Amber is the friendliest person I have ever met. Most managers just come over to your table and say hello and walk away. As we watched her she was running plates, speaking with customers for a long time and cleaning up tables. Every location should have a manager like this because she was so warm and made you feel welcome. She was on top of her staff to make sure all of the tables were being attended to. Best dinner I could have asked for. I order the Victoria Lobster and filet mignon with the pecan blue cheese salad ABSOLUTELY amazing. RosaMarie our waitress brought everything out perfect timing, she was so patient with us as we continueed to get business calls every time she came over to take her order. We have been here multiple times and there is always something wrong with our order. Over cooked steak, undercooked, and even frozen salad! Today we order from there for delivery. We were excited they now deliver to give us a different option for takeout. However, huge disappointment. Our prime rib was ordered rare and came over cooked. They also forgot the vegetables that were suppose to come with it. My filet minion was ordered medium rare and it was blue. Cold to touch in the middle. I put it back on my stove for 5 minutes on eat side and still raw on inside and burnt now on the outside. Extremely disappointed. A steak house should know how to cook a steak with their eyes closed. This was the first time coming to the outback at the ledge wood location and I must say I was impressed. I came on a Saturday night so I'm obviously there was a bit of a wait. However while we were waiting for staff came out with samples of the blooming onion as well as big cups of soda or water. This is the first restaurant ever been to where they actually serve you free of charge drinks and apps while you wait. We waited approximately 40 minutes for a table. Again it was a Saturday night so it was expected and the time went by pretty quickly given that you're munching on food and drinks while we are waiting. I would highly recommend coming to this location was great, it was fresh, it was tasty and the waitstaff was on point. read more

Wow, did this Outback go down in quality and WAY UP IN PRICE! We've been going to Outbacks for many years, including this one and WOW we are massively disappointed in the quality. For example, we ordered a Bloomin' Onion and it came out overcooked and difficult to chew. So when we told them this, the replacement Onion they gave us was basically the same. Not only that, but Outback has increased their prices to the point we'd rather dine at Mortons or Ruth's Chris Steakhouse... I mean, why not go to those places instead considering how expensive Outback has become. Oh well, time to move on. It was nice knowing you, Outback, but we'd rather get our money's worth somewhere else. P.S. - My friend ordered their 9oz "filet" and it was basically what their Outback Special used to be. Not worth the $25 price tag they're asking. I got their salmon and it was fishy tasting. Granted, it's a fish, I'm aware of that, but fish when cooked shouldn't TASTE like fish. We have been here at least 30 to fifty times in the past four years and can tell you the prices have not gone up. They send you emails for promotions and if you fill out the survey on your receipt you get a free app. The staff is super friendly and aco adapting. I worked here 15 years ago when the joint first opened. Loved the food back then and still love it now. I'm trying to convince the owner to open for lunch on weekdays...and apparently it's a WIP:) I always get the Outbacker special (sirloin) as its the best they have...but they have added a ton of new items to the menu over the years. Now they give you a coupon with every check for a free blooming onion if you fill out a quick/simple survey online. I get one to go on every visit and pick at it all week (for breakfast...I know it's strange). All salad dressings are made on sight and delicious...the Caesar is my favorite of all time...but I always get it with the house salad. I'm also trying to get the owner to sell them because I love it so much!! The place just got a new owner (mendi). He is super cool and friendly and always appreciates feedback. Cathy is also to best waitress but if I go and she isn't there I'm always taken care of regardless. Outback generally has the best steak for a chain restaurant. I went her eon a soggy labor day and was seated quickly. I tried the new wood fire mixed grill with 6 ounce steak and mahi mahi with the garlic mashed potatoes. Aussie cheese fries to start as well. This outback did not dissapoint. Ordered the chicken on the barby and paid extra to get the asparagus as the side. Asked for light spice on the chicken. Guess their idea of light spice is MUCH different than ours. It was so peppery it was essentially inedible. The 4 sad shriveled stalks of asparagus definitely weren't worth the extra dollar we paid for them. We had stayed away from this Outback for the last 7 years or so because the food had gone from delicious to nothing but pepper. We decided to give them another chance -- it was the last one. Horrible! We were the only ones and sat in a booth in the bar section. Bartender was our server, and there was a hostess. Food was what is to be at a chain restaurant. Greasy! Paid, walked to my car, realized I forgot my RayBans, went back and they were gone! Gone! Nowhere to be found. Now, there were only 2 employees working. I asked for a manager and a young guy comes out front, assures me the owner will call me the next day by 11am because he can look at the camera to see what happened. No call. I called and the owner and he immediately went nuts on me! Told me I accused his employees of stealing and they don't steal (idiot) and the camera on that booth doesn't work (idiot). What did I do to deserve a boiled burnt old rotten "baked potato". The ''steamed' vegetables were so soggy it looked like someone's vomit. The grilled of piece of fish tasted like chemicals, maybe propane gas or something. And I get to pay $30. For this crap. I usually set the bar pretty low for chain restaurants, however, the two times I have been to this Outback, I've been thoroughly impressed with the service (the food is good too). I was most recently here about a week ago on a Friday night. There was a small wait, but nothing too crazy for a Friday night. Once we were seated, out server came to greet us in no time. She brought out the bread really quickly and she just made for an all around enjoyable experience. Each of us had some small modification to the dish we were ordering and to our delight, everything was correct the first time around when it came to our table. The waitress checked in frequently to see how everything was and brought us refills before our glasses were even empty. The food was good for an Outback. The staff really make this place! I haven't been here in a while as I don't consider it a very good steak house. My wife wanted to go so I said okay. I was pleasantly surprised to say we had a fantastic overall experience. The restaurant was very clean, and well decorated. Our server couldn't have been any nicer. Unfortunately I didn't ask her name. The appetizers, and main course came out in a timely fashion. The quality was excellent and prepared just the way we requested. The manager came around asking if we were happy with our meal and she was very personable. Was excited to see that they offer delivery now! Ordered last night and everything was prepared exactly as we requested. Delivery was prompt and the food was packaged wonderfully, our salads and desserts were both still cool and the steaks and sides were still nice and hot. On to the real disappointment, both steaks. The only question here is which $30 steak was worse? Took 10 minutes and 3 tries to get a waitress. She demanded our drink order before anything else. I ordered well done but not dry salmon, I got raw salmon. If I wanted sushi there are far better places to go. I sent it back, it took 30 minutes to get burnt salmon back! It took 3 people to get a manager who raised her voice to me. On top of everything, the waitress handled dirty dishes, did not wash her hands when she came over. The server played with her long hair serving our food. My companion ate alone. They offered no compensation, tried charging me twice for the salmon, only when I threatened to call the police for theft of service, did they take the charge off the bill. Never will go there again. They had a great manager who they treated poorly and she went elsewhere, this is a place run by fools. Complaints have been made to consumer affairs and the health department. Stopped by with my family for a celebratory lunch shortly after opening on 01/19. Our server (can't recall his name, very short blonde hair, taller guy) made the experience. He was incredibly polite, engaging, and offered up very helpful suggestions while we ordered. He visited our table throughout the meal just the right number of times, and was quick to bring refills, etc. On the level you'd receive at a high end restaurant. Food was as you would expect at an Outback, reasonably good for the price, and prepared correctly according to the order. I normally don't leave reviews on things unless the experience was great or terrible, and I wanted to leave this review due to the outstanding service. Seriously, the food was the worst crap ever. The wait staff, however, was decent for the most part. Very attentive but clueless about the food they were serving. There were three of us at dinner tonight. No cocktails and it was about 100 bucks. Our 20 year old guest had prime rib that was bland and cooked incorrectly. Another had shrimps and steak that was not edible. Literally drenched in garlic and oil. I had the Caesar salad with about six mini shrimp. The romaine lettuce actually tasted like it wasn't washed. Just horrible. The sampler appetizer contained this onion ring concoction that people say is delicious. It was a platter of sodium. We didn't complain--We simply will never go back. read more
